Fussilat [41]: 38 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

فَاِنِ اسْتَكْبَرُوْا فَالَّذِيْنَ عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ يُسَبِّحُوْنَ لَهٗ بِالَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَهُمْ لَا يَسْـَٔمُوْنَ ۩ (فصلت : ٤١)

fa-ini
فَإِنِ
But if
is'takbarū
ٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟
they are arrogant
fa-alladhīna
فَٱلَّذِينَ
then those who
ʿinda
عِندَ
(are) near
rabbika
رَبِّكَ
your Lord
yusabbiḥūna
يُسَبِّحُونَ
glorify
lahu
لَهُۥ
Him
bi-al-layli
بِٱلَّيْلِ
by night
wal-nahāri
وَٱلنَّهَارِ
and day
wahum
وَهُمْ
And they
لَا
(do) not
yasamūna
يَسْـَٔمُونَ۩
tire

Transliteration:

Fa inis-takbaroo fallazee na 'inda Rabbika yusabbihoona lahoo billaili wannnahaari wa hum laa yas'amoon (QS. Fuṣṣilat:38)

English / Sahih Translation:

But if they are arrogant – then those who are near your Lord [i.e., the angels] exalt Him by night and by day, and they do not become weary. (QS. Fussilat, ayah 38)

Still, if they show arrogance, then those who are with your Lord proclaim His purity night and day, and they do not get weary.

But if they wax proud (and persist in their attitude, it does not matter, for) the angels near-stationed to your Lord glorify Him night and day, and never grow weary.

But if they become haughty (then remember) that those who are close to your Lord sing His praises night and day and do not grow weary of (doing so).

So if these (disbelievers) be haughty, so (in any case) those (the angels) who are with your Lord say His Purity night and day, and they do not get weary. (Command of prostration # 11)

But if they disdain [the worship of Allah], those who are near your Lord glorify Him night and day, and they are not wearied.

If they are too arrogant (to worship Him alone), it is a fact that those who are in the Presence of your Lord (the angels and His sincere servants among humankind and jinn), glorify Him alone by night and day and are tireless (therein).

If they wax too proud (to prostrate before Him let them know that) those who are the near ones of your Lord glorify Him night and day and they never grow weary (of it). (Prostration)

English Literal

So if they became arrogant, so those who (are) at your Lord they praise/glorify to Him by the night and the daytime, and they do not get bored/tired.

So if these (disbelievers) be haughty, so (in any case) those (the angels) who are with your Lord say His Purity night and day, and they do not get weary. (Command of prostration # 11)

Tafsir jalalayn

But if they disdain, to prostrate to God alone, still those who are with your Lord, that is to say, still the angels, glorify, perform prayers to, Him night and day, and they tire not, they never weary [thereof].

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

فَإِنِ اسْتَكْبَرُوا

But if they are too proud,

i.e., to worship Him Alone, and they insist on associating others with Him,

فَالَّذِينَ عِندَ رَبِّكَ

then there are those who are with your Lord (i.e., the angels),

يُسَبِّحُونَ لَهُ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَهُمْ لَا يَسْأَمُونَ



glorify Him night and day, and never are they tired.

This is like the Ayah;

فَإِن يَكْفُرْ بِهَا هَـوُلاءِ فَقَدْ وَكَّلْنَا بِهَا قَوْماً لَّيْسُواْ بِهَا بِكَـفِرِينَ

But if these disbelieve therein, then, indeed We have entrusted it to a people who are not disbelievers therein. (6;89)
