Al-Qur'an Surah Ghafir Verse 9

Ghafir [40]: 9 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَقِهِمُ السَّيِّاٰتِۗ وَمَنْ تَقِ السَّيِّاٰتِ يَوْمَىِٕذٍ فَقَدْ رَحِمْتَهٗ ۗوَذٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيْمُ ࣖ (غافر : ٤٠)

waqihimu
وَقِهِمُ
And protect them
l-sayiāti
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِۚ
(from) the evils
waman
وَمَن
And whoever
taqi
تَقِ
you protect
l-sayiāti
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ
(from) the evils
yawma-idhin
يَوْمَئِذٍ
(that) Day
faqad
فَقَدْ
then verily
raḥim'tahu
رَحِمْتَهُۥۚ
You bestowed Mercy on him
wadhālika
وَذَٰلِكَ
And that
huwa
هُوَ
[it]
l-fawzu
ٱلْفَوْزُ
(is) the success
l-ʿaẓīmu
ٱلْعَظِيمُ
the great"

Transliteration:

Wa qihimus saiyi-aat; wa man taqis saiyi-aati Yawma'izin faqad rahimtah; wa zaalika huwal fawzul 'azeem (QS. Ghāfir:9)

English / Sahih Translation:

And protect them from the evil consequences [of their deeds]. And he whom You protect from evil consequences that Day – You will have given him mercy. And that is the great attainment." (QS. Ghafir, ayah 9)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

and save them from evils (of punishment). And whomsoever you save from evils that day, it is surely because you bless him with mercy. And that is the great achievement indeed.”

And protect them from ˹the consequences of their˺ evil deeds. For whoever You protect from the evil of their deeds on that Day will have been shown Your mercy. That is ˹truly˺ the ultimate triumph.”

Protect them from all evil deeds: those You protect on that Day from [the punishment for] evil deeds will receive Your mercy- that is the supreme triumph.’

"And preserve them from (all) ills; and any whom Thou dost preserve from ills that Day,- on them wilt Thou have bestowed Mercy indeed; and that will be truly (for them) the highest Achievement".

Protect them from evil; and whosoever You preserve from evil on that Day shall have surely received Your mercy. This will be the great triumph."

Save them from the ills [of the Day of Retribution]; and whomever You save from the ills that day, You will have had mercy upon him, and that is the great triumph.’

"And protect them from (doing) evil deeds (and the consequences thereof on the Day of Judgment). Whoever You protect from evils on that Day, You have surely had mercy on him; and that is the supreme triumph."

`And save them from all types of evils. Indeed, You will have shown mercy to the person whom, on that Day, you save from evils. And that (to be saved) is indeed the great achievement.´

English Literal

And protect them (from) the sins/crimes; and whom You protect/preserve from the sins/crimes (on) that day, so You had mercy upon him, and that it is the winning/success , the great.

Our Lord, make them enter the Gardens of perpetuity, which Thou hast promised them and such of their fathers and their wives and their offspring as are good. Surely Thou art the Mighty, the Wise:

Lord, keep them away from evil deeds. Whomever You have saved from evil on the Day of Judgment has certainly been granted Your mercy and this is the greatest triumph.

And save them from the sins, and whomsoever You save from the sins that Day, him verily, You have taken into mercy." And that is the supreme success.

Protect them from all evil deeds: those You protect from [the punishment for] evil deeds will receive Your mercy -- that is the supreme success."

And shield them from the evil deeds. Whomever You shield from the evil deeds, on that Day, You have had mercy on him. That is the supreme achievement.”

Tafsir jalalayn

And shield them from evil deeds, that is, [from] the chastisement thereof; for whomever You shield from evil deeds that day, the Day of Resurrection, verily him You will have had been merciful to; and that is indeed the supreme triumph'.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَقِهِمُ السَّيِّيَاتِ

And save them from the sins,

means, the actions and the consequences.

وَمَن تَقِ السَّيِّيَاتِ يَوْمَيِذٍ

and whomsoever You save from the sins that Day,

means, the Day of Resurrection,

فَقَدْ رَحِمْتَهُ

him verily, You have taken into mercy.

means, `You have protected him and saved him from punishment.'

وَذَلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ



And that is the supreme success.
