Al-Qur'an Surah Ghafir Verse 41

Ghafir [40]: 41 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

۞ وَيٰقَوْمِ مَا لِيْٓ اَدْعُوْكُمْ اِلَى النَّجٰوةِ وَتَدْعُوْنَنِيْٓ اِلَى النَّارِۗ (غافر : ٤٠)

wayāqawmi
وَيَٰقَوْمِ
And O my people!
مَا
How (is it)
لِىٓ
for me
adʿūkum
أَدْعُوكُمْ
(that) I call you
ilā
إِلَى
to
l-najati
ٱلنَّجَوٰةِ
the salvation
watadʿūnanī
وَتَدْعُونَنِىٓ
while you call me
ilā
إِلَى
to
l-nāri
ٱلنَّارِ
the Fire!

Transliteration:

Wa yaa qawmi maa leee ad'ookum ilan najaati wa tad'oonaneee ilan Naar (QS. Ghāfir:41)

English / Sahih Translation:

And O my people, how is it that I invite you to salvation while you invite me to the Fire? (QS. Ghafir, ayah 41)

Allah informs that the believer said;

وَيَا قَوْمِ مَا لِي أَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَى النَّجَاةِ

"And O my people! How is it that I call you to salvation,

That believer said;`Why do I call you to salvation, which is the worship of Allah alone with no partner or associate, and belief in His Messenger, whom He has sent,'

وَتَدْعُونَنِي إِلَى النَّارِ
