Al-Qur'an Surah Ghafir Verse 35
Ghafir [40]: 35 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
ۨالَّذِيْنَ يُجَادِلُوْنَ فِيْٓ اٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ بِغَيْرِ سُلْطٰنٍ اَتٰىهُمْۗ كَبُرَ مَقْتًا عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ وَعِنْدَ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا ۗ كَذٰلِكَ يَطْبَعُ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ قَلْبِ مُتَكَبِّرٍ جَبَّارٍ (غافر : ٤٠)

Transliteration:
Allazeena yujaadiloona feee Aaayaatil laahi bighairi sultaanin ataahum kabura maqtan 'indal laahi wa 'indal lazeena aamanoo; kazaalika yatha'ul laahu 'alaa kulli qalbi mutakabbirin jabbaar(QS. Ghāfir:35)
English / Sahih Translation:
Those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without an authority having come to them – great is hatred [of them] in the sight of Allah and in the sight of those who have believed. Thus does Allah seal over every heart [belonging to] an arrogant tyrant. (QS. Ghafir, ayah 35)

Tafsir jalalayn
Those who dispute the signs of God, His miracles (alladhna yujdilna f yti'Llhi, the subject) without any warrant, any evidence, that has come to them -- greatly hateful [is that], disputing of theirs (kabura, the predicate of the subject) in the sight of God and in the sight of those who believe. So, just as they have been led astray, God sets a seal, of misguidance, on the heart of every arrogant tyrant (read qalbin, `the heart of', with nunation, or without, qalbi). As the heart grows arrogant, so does the individual and vice versa (kulli, in both readings, is meant to indicate the totality of the misguidance of such hearts, not the totality of the hearts).
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
الَّذِينَ يُجَادِلُونَ فِي ايَاتِ اللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ سُلْطَانٍ أَتَاهُمْ
Those who dispute about the Ayat of Allah, without any authority that has come to them,
means, those who attempt to refute truth with falsehood and who dispute the proof without evidence or proof from Allah, Allah will hate them with the utmost loathing.
Allah says;
كَبُرَ مَقْتًا عِندَ اللَّهِ وَعِندَ الَّذِينَ امَنُوا
it is greatly hateful and disgusting to Allah and to those who believe.
meaning, the believers too will despise those who are like this, and whoever is like this, Allah will put a seal on his heart so that after that he will not acknowledge anything good or denounce anything evil.
Allah says;
كَذَلِكَ يَطْبَعُ اللَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ قَلْبِ مُتَكَبِّرٍ
Thus does Allah seal up the heart of every arrogant.
meaning, so that they cannot follow the truth.
