قَالُوْا رَبَّنَآ اَمَتَّنَا اثْنَتَيْنِ وَاَحْيَيْتَنَا اثْنَتَيْنِ فَاعْتَرَفْنَا بِذُنُوْبِنَا فَهَلْ اِلٰى خُرُوْجٍ مِّنْ سَبِيْلٍ ١١
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- They (will) say
- rabbanā
- رَبَّنَآ
- "Our Lord!
- amattanā
- أَمَتَّنَا
- You gave us death
- ith'natayni
- ٱثْنَتَيْنِ
- twice
- wa-aḥyaytanā
- وَأَحْيَيْتَنَا
- and You gave us life
- ith'natayni
- ٱثْنَتَيْنِ
- twice
- fa-iʿ'tarafnā
- فَٱعْتَرَفْنَا
- and we confess
- bidhunūbinā
- بِذُنُوبِنَا
- our sins
- fahal
- فَهَلْ
- So is (there)
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- to
- khurūjin
- خُرُوجٍ
- get out
- min
- مِّن
- any
- sabīlin
- سَبِيلٍ
- way?"
They will say, "Our Lord, You made us lifeless twice and gave us life twice, and we have confessed our sins. So is there to an exit any way?" (QS. [40] Ghafir: 11)Tafsir
ذٰلِكُمْ بِاَنَّهٗٓ اِذَا دُعِيَ اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهٗ كَفَرْتُمْۚ وَاِنْ يُّشْرَكْ بِهٖ تُؤْمِنُوْا ۗفَالْحُكْمُ لِلّٰهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْكَبِيْرِ ١٢
- dhālikum
- ذَٰلِكُم
- "That
- bi-annahu
- بِأَنَّهُۥٓ
- (is) because
- idhā
- إِذَا
- when
- duʿiya
- دُعِىَ
- Allah was invoked
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah was invoked
- waḥdahu
- وَحْدَهُۥ
- Alone
- kafartum
- كَفَرْتُمْۖ
- you disbelieved
- wa-in
- وَإِن
- but if
- yush'rak
- يُشْرَكْ
- (others) were associated
- bihi
- بِهِۦ
- with Him
- tu'minū
- تُؤْمِنُوا۟ۚ
- you believed
- fal-ḥuk'mu
- فَٱلْحُكْمُ
- So the judgment
- lillahi
- لِلَّهِ
- (is) with Allah
- l-ʿaliyi
- ٱلْعَلِىِّ
- the Most High
- l-kabīri
- ٱلْكَبِيرِ
- the Most Great"
[They will be told], "That is because, when Allah was called upon alone, you disbelieved; but if others were associated with Him, you believed. So the judgement is with Allah, the Most High, the Grand." (QS. [40] Ghafir: 12)Tafsir
هُوَ الَّذِيْ يُرِيْكُمْ اٰيٰتِهٖ وَيُنَزِّلُ لَكُمْ مِّنَ السَّمَاۤءِ رِزْقًا ۗوَمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ اِلَّا مَنْ يُّنِيْبُ ١٣
- huwa
- هُوَ
- He
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- (is) the One Who
- yurīkum
- يُرِيكُمْ
- shows you
- āyātihi
- ءَايَٰتِهِۦ
- His Signs
- wayunazzilu
- وَيُنَزِّلُ
- and sends down
- lakum
- لَكُم
- for you
- mina
- مِّنَ
- from
- l-samāi
- ٱلسَّمَآءِ
- the sky
- riz'qan
- رِزْقًاۚ
- provision
- wamā
- وَمَا
- But (does) not
- yatadhakkaru
- يَتَذَكَّرُ
- take heed
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- man
- مَن
- (one) who
- yunību
- يُنِيبُ
- turns
It is He who shows you His signs and sends down to you from the sky, provision. But none will remember except he who turns back [in repentance]. (QS. [40] Ghafir: 13)Tafsir
فَادْعُوا اللّٰهَ مُخْلِصِيْنَ لَهُ الدِّيْنَ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْكٰفِرُوْنَ ١٤
- fa-id'ʿū
- فَٱدْعُوا۟
- So invoke
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- mukh'liṣīna
- مُخْلِصِينَ
- (being) sincere
- lahu
- لَهُ
- to Him
- l-dīna
- ٱلدِّينَ
- (in) the religion
- walaw
- وَلَوْ
- even though
- kariha
- كَرِهَ
- dislike (it)
- l-kāfirūna
- ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ
- the disbelievers
So invoke Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, although the disbelievers dislike it. (QS. [40] Ghafir: 14)Tafsir
رَفِيْعُ الدَّرَجٰتِ ذُو الْعَرْشِۚ يُلْقِى الرُّوْحَ مِنْ اَمْرِهٖ عَلٰى مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهٖ لِيُنْذِرَ يَوْمَ التَّلَاقِۙ ١٥
- rafīʿu
- رَفِيعُ
- Possessor of the Highest Ranks
- l-darajāti
- ٱلدَّرَجَٰتِ
- Possessor of the Highest Ranks
- dhū
- ذُو
- Owner (of) the Throne
- l-ʿarshi
- ٱلْعَرْشِ
- Owner (of) the Throne
- yul'qī
- يُلْقِى
- He places
- l-rūḥa
- ٱلرُّوحَ
- the inspiration
- min
- مِنْ
- by
- amrihi
- أَمْرِهِۦ
- His Command
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- upon
- man
- مَن
- whom
- yashāu
- يَشَآءُ
- He wills
- min
- مِنْ
- of
- ʿibādihi
- عِبَادِهِۦ
- His slaves
- liyundhira
- لِيُنذِرَ
- to warn
- yawma
- يَوْمَ
- (of the) Day
- l-talāqi
- ٱلتَّلَاقِ
- (of) the Meeting
[He is] the Exalted above [all] degrees, Owner of the Throne; He places the inspiration of His command [i.e., revelation] upon whom He wills of His servants to warn of the Day of Meeting. (QS. [40] Ghafir: 15)Tafsir
يَوْمَ هُمْ بَارِزُوْنَ ۚ لَا يَخْفٰى عَلَى اللّٰهِ مِنْهُمْ شَيْءٌ ۗلِمَنِ الْمُلْكُ الْيَوْمَ ۗ لِلّٰهِ الْوَاحِدِ الْقَهَّارِ ١٦
- yawma
- يَوْمَ
- (The) Day
- hum
- هُم
- they
- bārizūna
- بَٰرِزُونَۖ
- come forth
- lā
- لَا
- not
- yakhfā
- يَخْفَىٰ
- is hidden
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- from
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- min'hum
- مِنْهُمْ
- about them
- shayon
- شَىْءٌۚ
- anything
- limani
- لِّمَنِ
- For whom
- l-mul'ku
- ٱلْمُلْكُ
- (is) the Dominion
- l-yawma
- ٱلْيَوْمَۖ
- this Day?
- lillahi
- لِلَّهِ
- For Allah
- l-wāḥidi
- ٱلْوَٰحِدِ
- the One
- l-qahāri
- ٱلْقَهَّارِ
- the Irresistible
The Day they come forth nothing concerning them will be concealed from Allah. To whom belongs [all] sovereignty this Day? To Allah, the One, the Prevailing. (QS. [40] Ghafir: 16)Tafsir
اَلْيَوْمَ تُجْزٰى كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ ۗ لَا ظُلْمَ الْيَوْمَ ۗاِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَرِيْعُ الْحِسَابِ ١٧
- al-yawma
- ٱلْيَوْمَ
- This Day
- tuj'zā
- تُجْزَىٰ
- will be recompensed
- kullu
- كُلُّ
- every
- nafsin
- نَفْسٍۭ
- soul
- bimā
- بِمَا
- for what
- kasabat
- كَسَبَتْۚ
- it earned
- lā
- لَا
- No
- ẓul'ma
- ظُلْمَ
- injustice
- l-yawma
- ٱلْيَوْمَۚ
- today!
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- sarīʿu
- سَرِيعُ
- (is) Swift
- l-ḥisābi
- ٱلْحِسَابِ
- (in) Account
This Day every soul will be recompensed for what it earned. No injustice today! Indeed, Allah is swift in account. (QS. [40] Ghafir: 17)Tafsir
وَاَنْذِرْهُمْ يَوْمَ الْاٰزِفَةِ اِذِ الْقُلُوْبُ لَدَى الْحَنَاجِرِ كَاظِمِيْنَ ەۗ مَا لِلظّٰلِمِيْنَ مِنْ حَمِيْمٍ وَّلَا شَفِيْعٍ يُّطَاعُۗ ١٨
- wa-andhir'hum
- وَأَنذِرْهُمْ
- And warn them
- yawma
- يَوْمَ
- (of the) Day
- l-āzifati
- ٱلْءَازِفَةِ
- the Approaching
- idhi
- إِذِ
- when
- l-qulūbu
- ٱلْقُلُوبُ
- the hearts
- ladā
- لَدَى
- (are) at
- l-ḥanājiri
- ٱلْحَنَاجِرِ
- the throats
- kāẓimīna
- كَٰظِمِينَۚ
- choked
- mā
- مَا
- Not
- lilẓẓālimīna
- لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ
- for the wrongdoers
- min
- مِنْ
- any
- ḥamīmin
- حَمِيمٍ
- intimate friend
- walā
- وَلَا
- and no
- shafīʿin
- شَفِيعٍ
- intercessor
- yuṭāʿu
- يُطَاعُ
- (who) is obeyed
And warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Approaching Day, when hearts are at the throats, filled [with distress]. For the wrongdoers there will be no devoted friend and no intercessor [who is] obeyed. (QS. [40] Ghafir: 18)Tafsir
يَعْلَمُ خَاۤىِٕنَةَ الْاَعْيُنِ وَمَا تُخْفِى الصُّدُوْرُ ١٩
- yaʿlamu
- يَعْلَمُ
- He knows
- khāinata
- خَآئِنَةَ
- (the) stealthy glance
- l-aʿyuni
- ٱلْأَعْيُنِ
- (the) stealthy glance
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and what
- tukh'fī
- تُخْفِى
- conceal
- l-ṣudūru
- ٱلصُّدُورُ
- the breasts
He knows that which deceives the eyes and what the breasts conceal. (QS. [40] Ghafir: 19)Tafsir
وَاللّٰهُ يَقْضِيْ بِالْحَقِّ ۗوَالَّذِيْنَ يَدْعُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِهٖ لَا يَقْضُوْنَ بِشَيْءٍ ۗاِنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْبَصِيْرُ ࣖ ٢٠
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- yaqḍī
- يَقْضِى
- judges
- bil-ḥaqi
- بِٱلْحَقِّۖ
- in truth
- wa-alladhīna
- وَٱلَّذِينَ
- while those (whom)
- yadʿūna
- يَدْعُونَ
- they invoke
- min
- مِن
- besides Him
- dūnihi
- دُونِهِۦ
- besides Him
- lā
- لَا
- not
- yaqḍūna
- يَقْضُونَ
- they judge
- bishayin
- بِشَىْءٍۗ
- with anything
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- huwa
- هُوَ
- He
- l-samīʿu
- ٱلسَّمِيعُ
- (is) the All-Hearer
- l-baṣīru
- ٱلْبَصِيرُ
- the All-Seer
And Allah judges with truth, while those they invoke besides Him judge not with anything. Indeed, Allah – He is the Hearing, the Seeing. (QS. [40] Ghafir: 20)Tafsir
