Al-Qur'an Surah An-Nisa Verse 76

An-Nisa [4]: 76 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

اَلَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا يُقَاتِلُوْنَ فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ ۚ وَالَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا يُقَاتِلُوْنَ فِيْ سَبِيْلِ الطَّاغُوْتِ فَقَاتِلُوْٓا اَوْلِيَاۤءَ الشَّيْطٰنِ ۚ اِنَّ كَيْدَ الشَّيْطٰنِ كَانَ ضَعِيْفًا ۚ ࣖ (النساء : ٤)

they fight

سَبِيلِ
(the) way
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِۖ
(of) Allah;
wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
and those
kafarū
كَفَرُوا۟
who disbelieve
yuqātilūna
يُقَٰتِلُونَ
they fight
فِى
in
sabīli
سَبِيلِ
(the) way
l-ṭāghūti
ٱلطَّٰغُوتِ
(of) the false deities
faqātilū
فَقَٰتِلُوٓا۟
So fight (against)
awliyāa
أَوْلِيَآءَ
(the) friends
l-shayṭāni
ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِۖ
(of) the Shaitaan
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
kayda
كَيْدَ
(the) strategy
l-shayṭāni
ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ
(of) the Shaitaan
kāna
كَانَ
is
ḍaʿīfan
ضَعِيفًا
weak

Transliteration:

Allazeena aamanoo yuqaatiloona fee sabeelil laahi wallazeena kafaroo yuqaatiloona fee sabeelit Taaghoot faqaatiloo awliyaaa'ash Shaitaan; inna kaidash Shairaani kaana da'eefa (QS. an-Nisāʾ:76)

English / Sahih Translation:

Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who disbelieve fight in the cause of Taghut. So fight against the allies of Satan. Indeed, the plot of Satan has ever been weak. (QS. An-Nisa, ayah 76)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

The believers fight in the way of Allah, and the disbelievers fight in the way of Tāghūt. So, fight the friends of Satan. No doubt, the guile of Satan is feeble.

Believers fight for the cause of Allah, whereas disbelievers fight for the cause of the Devil. So fight against Satan’s ˹evil˺ forces. Indeed, Satan’s schemes are ever weak.

Those who believe fight in the way of God; and those who do not, only fight for the powers of evil; so you should fight the allies of Satan. Surely the stratagem of Satan is ineffective.

The believers fight for Allah’s cause; and the disbelievers fight for the devil’s cause – so fight against the friends of the devil; undoubtedly the devil’s conspiracy is weak.

Those who have faith fight in the way of Allah, and those who are faithless fight in the way of fake gods. So fight the friends of Satan; indeed the stratagems of Satan are always flimsy.

Those who (truly) believe fight in God’s cause, while those who disbelieve fight in the way of taghut (powers of evil who institute patterns of rule in defiance of God). So (O believers) fight against the friends and allies of Satan. Assuredly, Satan’s guile is ever feeble.

Amatul Rahman Omar

Those who believe fight in the cause of Allâh, and those who choose disbelief fight in the cause of the transgressor; fight you, therefore, against the friends of satan, surely, the stratagem of satan is ever weak.

English Literal

Those who believed, fight/kill in God`s sake, and those who disbelieved fight/kill in the devil/idol`s sake, so fight/kill the devil`s supporters/allies/followers, that the devil`s conspiracy/deceit was weak.

The believers fight for Allah’s cause; and the disbelievers fight for the devil’s cause - so fight against the friends of the devil; undoubtedly the devil’s conspiracy is weak.

"Wherever you be, death will overtake you, though you were in lofty towers." And if a good thing befalls them, they say, "This is from Allah," but if a bad thing, they say, "This is from you (Muhammad)." Say (unto them), "It is all from Allah." What ails these people? They can hardly understand an event.

Those who believe, fight in the Cause of Allah, and those who disbelieve, fight in the cause of Taghut (Satan, etc.). So fight you against the friends of Shaitan (Satan); Ever feeble indeed is the plot of Shaitan (Satan).

And what reason have you not to fight in the way of Allah, and of the weak among the men and the women and the children, who say: Our Lord, take us out of this town, whose people are oppressors, and grant us from Thee a friend, and grant us from Thee a helper!

Those who believe fight in the way of Allah, and those who disbelieve fight in the way of the Shaitan. Fight therefore against the friends of the Shaitan; surely the strategy of the Shaitan is weak.

The believers fight for the cause of God. The unbelievers fight for the cause of the Satan. So fight against the friends of Satan for the evil plans of Satan are certainly weak.

And those who believe fight in the way of Allah, but those who disbelieve fight in the way of the idol. Therefore, fight against those guided by satan. Indeed, satan's guile is always weak.

Those who believe, fight in the cause of Allah, and those who disbelieve, fight in the cause of the Taghut. So fight against the friends of Shaytan; ever feeble indeed is the plot of Shaytan.

The believers fight for the cause of God, while those who reject faith fight for Satan. Then fight the allies of Satan: Satan's scheming is truly weak.

Those who believe fight in the cause of God, while those who disbelieve fight in the cause of Evil. So fight the allies of the Devil. Surely the strategy of the Devil is weak.

Tafsir jalalayn

Those who believe fight in the way of God, and those who disbelieve fight in the way of a false deity, Satan. Fight therefore against the friends of Satan, the supporters of his religion and you will defeat them with the strength you draw from God; surely the plotting of Satan, against believers, is ever feeble, of no substance, and cannot stand up to God's plotting against the disbelievers.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

الَّذِينَ امَنُواْ يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ الطَّاغُوتِ

Those who believe, fight in the cause of Allah, and those who disbelieve, fight in the cause of the Taghut.

Therefore, the believers fight in obedience to Allah and to gain His pleasure, while the disbelievers fight in obedience to Shaytan.

Allah then encourages the believers to fight His enemies,

فَقَاتِلُواْ أَوْلِيَاء الشَّيْطَانِ إِنَّ كَيْدَ الشَّيْطَانِ كَانَ ضَعِيفًا



So fight against the friends of Shaytan; ever feeble indeed is the plot of Shaytan
