Al-Qur'an Surah An-Nisa Verse 57

An-Nisa [4]: 57 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَالَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنّٰتٍ تَجْرِيْ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهٰرُ خٰلِدِيْنَ فِيْهَآ اَبَدًاۗ لَهُمْ فِيْهَآ اَزْوَاجٌ مُّطَهَّرَةٌ ۙ وَّنُدْخِلُهُمْ ظِلًّا ظَلِيْلًا (النساء : ٤)

wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
āmanū
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe[d]
waʿamilū
وَعَمِلُوا۟
and did
l-ṣāliḥāti
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
the good deeds
sanud'khiluhum
سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ
We will admit them
jannātin
جَنَّٰتٍ
(in) Gardens
tajrī
تَجْرِى
flows
min
مِن
from
taḥtihā
تَحْتِهَا
underneath it
l-anhāru
ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ
the rivers
khālidīna
خَٰلِدِينَ
will abide
fīhā
فِيهَآ
in it
abadan
أَبَدًاۖ
forever
lahum
لَّهُمْ
For them
fīhā
فِيهَآ
in it
azwājun
أَزْوَٰجٌ
(are) spouses
muṭahharatun
مُّطَهَّرَةٌۖ
pure
wanud'khiluhum
وَنُدْخِلُهُمْ
and We will admit them
ẓillan
ظِلًّا
(in the) shade
ẓalīlan
ظَلِيلًا
thick

Transliteration:

Wallazeena aamanoo wa 'amilus saalihaati sanud khiluum jannaatin tajree min tahtihal anhaaru khaalideena feehaaa abadaa, lahum feehaaa azwaajum mutahharatun wa nudkhiluhum zillan zaleelaa (QS. an-Nisāʾ:57)

English / Sahih Translation:

But those who believe and do righteous deeds – We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide forever. For them therein are purified spouses, and We will admit them to deepening shade. (QS. An-Nisa, ayah 57)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

As for those who have believed and have done good deeds, We shall admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will live forever. For them there are wives purified. We shall admit them to an umbrageous shade.

Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

As for those who believe and do good, We will admit them into Gardens under which rivers flow, to stay there for ever and ever. There they will have pure spouses,[[ See footnote for {2:25}.]] and We will place them under a vast shade.

As for those who believe and do righteous deeds, We will admit them into gardens under which rivers flow, abiding therein forever. They will have therein pure spouses, and We will admit them into a cool refreshing shade.

And those who believe and work righteous works, anon We shall cause them to enter the Gardens whereunder rivers flow as abiders therein for ever. For them shall be spouses purified, and We shall cause them to enter a sheltering shade.

But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, We shall soon admit to Gardens, with rivers flowing beneath,- their eternal home; Therein shall they have companions pure and holy; We shall admit them to shades, cool and ever deepening.

And those who believe and do good deeds, We shall cause them to enter the Gardens beneath which rivers flow. There they shall abide for ever. There they shall have spouses purified and there We shall cause them to enter a shelter with plenteous shade.

But those who believe and do good deeds We shall admit into gardens with streams of running water, where they will abide for ever, with fairest of companions and coolest of shades.

And those who believed and did good deeds, We shall soon admit them into Gardens beneath which rivers flow – abiding in it forever; in it for them are pure wives – and We shall admit them into places of plentiful shade.

As for those who have faith and do righteous deeds, We shall admit them into gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them forever. In it, there will be chaste mates for them, and We shall admit them into a deep shade.

But those who believe and do good, righteous deeds, We will admit them into the Gardens through which rivers flow, therein abiding for ever. Therein for them will be spouses purified, and We will admit them to an all-protecting shade (ease and contentment).

And those who believe and do righteous deeds We shall certainly admit them to Gardens served with running streams. They shall abide therein for ever. There shall be for them (to keep their company) therein, (spiritually and physically) purified companions, and We shall admit them to (a place of) thick and pleasant shades (of Our mercy and protection).

English Literal

And those who believed and did/made the correct/righteous deeds, We will enter them treed gardens, the rivers flow from beneath it, (they are) immortally/eternally in it, for them in it (are) purified spouses, and We enter them (in) shade, continuous/permanent shade.

And those who believed and did good deeds, We shall soon admit them into Gardens beneath which rivers flow - abiding in it forever; in it for them are pure wives - and We shall admit them into places of plentiful shade.

O you who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger and those in authority amongst you; and if you dispute (quarrel or argue) about anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you (in truth) believe in Allah and the Last Day; that is better and fairer in the end.

But those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) and do deeds of righteousness, We shall admit them to Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), abiding therein forever. Therein they shall have Azwajun Mutahharatun [purified mates or wives (having no menses, stools, urine, etc.)] and We shall admit them to shades wide and ever deepening (Paradise).

Maulana Mohammad Ali

Those who disbelieve in Our Messages, we shall make them enter Fire. As often as their skins are burned, We shall change them for other skins, that they may taste the chastisement. Surely Allah is ever Mighty, Wise.

And (as for) those who believe and do good deeds, We will make them enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them for ever; they shall have therein pure mates, and We shall make them enter a dense shade.

We will admit the righteously striving believers into the gardens wherein streams flow. They will live therein forever in a cool shade with their pure spouses.

As for those who believe and do good works, We shall admit them to Gardens underneath which rivers flow, they are there for eternity, and for them purified spouses. And We shall admit them into plenteous shade.

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, We shall admit them to Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), abiding therein forever. Therein they shall have Azwajun Mutahharatun (purified mates), and We shall admit them to shades, wide and ever deepening.

As for those who believe and do good works, We shall make them enter Gardens through which rivers flow, to dwell therein forever; therein they shall have pure spouses, and We shall admit them into a dense shade.

Talal Itani

As for those who believe and do good deeds, We will admit them into Gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein forever. They will have purified spouses therein, and We will admit them into a shady shade.

Tafsir jalalayn

And those that believe, and perform righteous deeds, We shall admit them to Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide; they shall have therein spouses purified, of menstruation and every impurity, and We shall admit them to plenteous shade, that is everlasting [shade], never replaced by any sun, and this is the shade of Paradise.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَالَّذِينَ امَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ الصَّالِحَاتِ سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الَانْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا

But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, We shall admit them to Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), abiding therein forever.

describing the destination of the happy ones in the gardens of Eden, beneath which rivers flow in all of its areas, spaces and corners, wherever they desire and wish. They will reside in it for eternity, and they will not be transferred or removed from it, nor would they want to move from it.

Allah said,

لَّهُمْ فِيهَا أَزْوَاجٌ مُّطَهَّرَةٌ

Therein they shall have Azwajun Mutahharatun (purified mates),

free of menstruation, postnatal bleeding, filth, bad manners and shortcomings.

Ibn Abbas said that the Ayah means,

"They are purified of filth and foul things."

Similar was said by Ata, Al-Hasan, Ad-Dahhak, An-Nakhai, Abu Salih, Atiyah, and As-Suddi.

Mujahid said that;

"they are, free of urine, menstruation, spit, mucous and pregnancies."

Allah's statement,

وَنُدْخِلُهُمْ ظِـلًّ ظَلِيلً



And We shall admit them to shades, wide and ever deepening (Paradise).

means, wide, extensive, pure and elegant shade.

Ibn Jarir recorded that Abu Hurayrah said that the Prophet said,

إِنَّ فِي الْجَنَّةِ لَشَجَرَةً يَسِيرُ الرَّاكِبُ فِي ظِلِّهَا مِايَةَ عَامٍ لَا يَقْطَعُهَا شَجَرَةَ الْخُلْد

There is a tree in Paradise, that if a rider travels under its shade for a hundred years, he will not cross it. It is the Tree of Everlasting Life
