Al-Qur'an Surah An-Nisa Verse 146

An-Nisa [4]: 146 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

اِلَّا الَّذِيْنَ تَابُوْا وَاَصْلَحُوْا وَاعْتَصَمُوْا بِاللّٰهِ وَاَخْلَصُوْا دِيْنَهُمْ لِلّٰهِ فَاُولٰۤىِٕكَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَۗ وَسَوْفَ يُؤْتِ اللّٰهُ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ اَجْرًا عَظِيْمًا (النساء : ٤)

illā
إِلَّا
Except
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
tābū
تَابُوا۟
repent
wa-aṣlaḥū
وَأَصْلَحُوا۟
and correct (themselves)
wa-iʿ'taṣamū
وَٱعْتَصَمُوا۟
and hold fast
bil-lahi
بِٱللَّهِ
to Allah
wa-akhlaṣū
وَأَخْلَصُوا۟
and are sincere
dīnahum
دِينَهُمْ
(in) their religion
lillahi
لِلَّهِ
for Allah
fa-ulāika
فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
then those (will be)
maʿa
مَعَ
with
l-mu'minīna
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَۖ
the believers
wasawfa
وَسَوْفَ
And soon
yu'ti
يُؤْتِ
will be given
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
(by) Allah
l-mu'minīna
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
the believers
ajran
أَجْرًا
a reward
ʿaẓīman
عَظِيمًا
great

Transliteration:

Illal lazeena taaboo wa aslahoo wa'tasamoo billaahi wa akhlasoo deenahum lillaahi faulaaa'ika ma'al mu'mineena wa sawfa yu'til laahul mu'mineena ajran 'azeemaa (QS. an-Nisāʾ:146)

English / Sahih Translation:

Except for those who repent, correct themselves, hold fast to Allah, and are sincere in their religion for Allah, for those will be with the believers. And Allah is going to give the believers a great reward. (QS. An-Nisa, ayah 146)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

- except those who repent and correct themselves and hold on to Allah and make their Faith pure for Allah. So, those are with the believers, and Allah will give the believers a great reward.

except those who repent, mend their ways, hold fast to Allah, and are sincere in their devotion to Allah; they will be with the believers. And Allah will grant the believers a great reward.

except those who re-pent and mend their ways and hold fast to Allah and make their faith exclusive to Allah. Those people shall be numbered with the believers and Allah will certainly bestow on the believers a great reward.

But those who repent and amend, and hold firmly to God, and are sincere and wholly obedient to God, are surely with the faithful; and God will bestow on the faithful a great reward.

Except those who repented and reformed themselves and held fast to Allah’s rope and made their religion sincerely only for Allah – so they are with the Muslims; and Allah will soon bestow upon the believers a great reward.

Except those who repent and mend their ways and hold fast to God and practice their Religion purely and sincerely for God’s sake: those (who repent) are counted with the believers, and in time God will grant to the believers a tremendous reward.

Yet such of these (- hypocrites) who turn with sincere repentance and amend (themselves) and hold fast to Allâh and become sincere in their allegiance to Allâh, it is these who are with the believers and Allâh will soon grant these believers a great reward.

English Literal

Except those who repented, and corrected/repaired, and they held fast with God, and they became faithful (to) their religion to God, so those (are) with the believers, and God will give the believers a great reward .

Except those who repented and reformed themselves and held fast to Allah’s rope and made their religion sincerely only for Allah - so they are with the Muslims; and Allah will soon bestow upon the believers a great reward.

Allah loves not publicity of evil speech, unless one has been wronged; for Allah is Hearer and Knower.

Except those who repent (from hypocrisy), do righteous good deeds, hold fast to Allah, and purify their religion for Allah (by worshipping none but Allah, and do good for Allah's sake only, not to show-off), then they will be with the believers. And Allah will grant to the believers a great reward.

The hypocrites are surely in the lowest depths of the Fire, and thou wilt find no helper for them,

Except those who repent, and reform, and hold fast to God, and dedicate their religion to God alone. These are with the believers; and God will give the believers a great reward.

Tafsir jalalayn

Save those who repent, of hypocrisy, and make amends, in their deeds, and hold fast to, put their trust [in], God and make their religion purely God's, free from any pretence; those are with the believers, in terms of what they shall be given; and God will certainly give the believers a great wage, in the Hereafter, and that is Paradise.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ تَابُواْ وَأَصْلَحُواْ وَاعْتَصَمُواْ بِاللّهِ وَأَخْلَصُواْ دِينَهُمْ لِلّهِ

Except those who repent (from hypocrisy), do righteous good deeds, depend on Allah, and purify their religion for Allah,

replacing showing off with sincerity, so that their good deeds will benefit them, even if they were minute.

فَأُوْلَـيِكَ مَعَ الْمُوْمِنِينَ

then they will be with the believers.

on the Day of Resurrection.

وَسَوْفَ يُوْتِ اللّهُ الْمُوْمِنِينَ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا



And Allah will grant to the believers a great reward.

Allah then states that He is too Rich to need anyone and that He only punishes the servants because of their sins.
