وَيَقُوْلُوْنَ طَاعَةٌ ۖ فَاِذَا بَرَزُوْا مِنْ عِنْدِكَ بَيَّتَ طَاۤىِٕفَةٌ مِّنْهُمْ غَيْرَ الَّذِيْ تَقُوْلُ ۗ وَاللّٰهُ يَكْتُبُ مَا يُبَيِّتُوْنَ ۚ فَاَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللّٰهِ ۗ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ وَكِيْلًا ٨١
- wayaqūlūna
- وَيَقُولُونَ
- And they say
- ṭāʿatun
- طَاعَةٌ
- "(We pledge) obedience"
- fa-idhā
- فَإِذَا
- Then when
- barazū
- بَرَزُوا۟
- they leave
- min
- مِنْ
- from
- ʿindika
- عِندِكَ
- you
- bayyata
- بَيَّتَ
- plan by night
- ṭāifatun
- طَآئِفَةٌ
- a group
- min'hum
- مِّنْهُمْ
- of them
- ghayra
- غَيْرَ
- other than
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- that which
- taqūlu
- تَقُولُۖ
- you say
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- But Allah
- yaktubu
- يَكْتُبُ
- records
- mā
- مَا
- what
- yubayyitūna
- يُبَيِّتُونَۖ
- they plan by night
- fa-aʿriḍ
- فَأَعْرِضْ
- So turn (away)
- ʿanhum
- عَنْهُمْ
- from them
- watawakkal
- وَتَوَكَّلْ
- and put (your) trust
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- in
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِۚ
- Allah
- wakafā
- وَكَفَىٰ
- And sufficient
- bil-lahi
- بِٱللَّهِ
- is Allah
- wakīlan
- وَكِيلًا
- (as) a Trustee
And they say, "[We pledge] obedience." But when they leave you, a group of them spend the night determining to do other than what you say. But Allah records what they plan by night. So leave them alone and rely upon Allah. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 81)Tafsir
اَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُوْنَ الْقُرْاٰنَ ۗ وَلَوْ كَانَ مِنْ عِنْدِ غَيْرِ اللّٰهِ لَوَجَدُوْا فِيْهِ اخْتِلَافًا كَثِيْرًا ٨٢
- afalā
- أَفَلَا
- Then (do) not
- yatadabbarūna
- يَتَدَبَّرُونَ
- they ponder
- l-qur'āna
- ٱلْقُرْءَانَۚ
- (on) the Quran?
- walaw
- وَلَوْ
- And if
- kāna
- كَانَ
- it had (been)
- min
- مِنْ
- (of)
- ʿindi
- عِندِ
- from
- ghayri
- غَيْرِ
- other than
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- lawajadū
- لَوَجَدُوا۟
- surely they (would have) found
- fīhi
- فِيهِ
- in it
- ikh'tilāfan
- ٱخْتِلَٰفًا
- contradiction
- kathīran
- كَثِيرًا
- much
Then do they not reflect upon the Quran? If it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 82)Tafsir
وَاِذَا جَاۤءَهُمْ اَمْرٌ مِّنَ الْاَمْنِ اَوِ الْخَوْفِ اَذَاعُوْا بِهٖ ۗ وَلَوْ رَدُّوْهُ اِلَى الرَّسُوْلِ وَاِلٰٓى اُولِى الْاَمْرِ مِنْهُمْ لَعَلِمَهُ الَّذِيْنَ يَسْتَنْۢبِطُوْنَهٗ مِنْهُمْ ۗ وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهٗ لَاتَّبَعْتُمُ الشَّيْطٰنَ اِلَّا قَلِيْلًا ٨٣
- wa-idhā
- وَإِذَا
- And when
- jāahum
- جَآءَهُمْ
- comes to them
- amrun
- أَمْرٌ
- a matter
- mina
- مِّنَ
- of
- l-amni
- ٱلْأَمْنِ
- the security
- awi
- أَوِ
- or
- l-khawfi
- ٱلْخَوْفِ
- [the] fear
- adhāʿū
- أَذَاعُوا۟
- they spread
- bihi
- بِهِۦۖ
- [with] it
- walaw
- وَلَوْ
- But if
- raddūhu
- رَدُّوهُ
- they (had) referred it
- ilā
- إِلَى
- to
- l-rasūli
- ٱلرَّسُولِ
- the Messenger
- wa-ilā
- وَإِلَىٰٓ
- and to
- ulī
- أُو۟لِى
- those
- l-amri
- ٱلْأَمْرِ
- (having) authority
- min'hum
- مِنْهُمْ
- among them
- laʿalimahu
- لَعَلِمَهُ
- surely would have known it
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- yastanbiṭūnahu
- يَسْتَنۢبِطُونَهُۥ
- draw correct conclusion (from) it
- min'hum
- مِنْهُمْۗ
- among them
- walawlā
- وَلَوْلَا
- And if not
- faḍlu
- فَضْلُ
- (had been the) bounty
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- ʿalaykum
- عَلَيْكُمْ
- on you
- waraḥmatuhu
- وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ
- and His Mercy
- la-ittabaʿtumu
- لَٱتَّبَعْتُمُ
- surely you (would have) followed
- l-shayṭāna
- ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ
- the Shaitaan
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- qalīlan
- قَلِيلًا
- a few
And when there comes to them something [i.e., information] about [public] security or fear, they spread it around. But if they had referred it back to the Messenger or to those of authority among them, then the ones who [can] draw correct conclusions from it would have known about it. And if not for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy, you would have followed Satan, except for a few. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 83)Tafsir
فَقَاتِلْ فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ ۚ لَا تُكَلَّفُ اِلَّا نَفْسَكَ وَحَرِّضِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ ۚ عَسَى اللّٰهُ اَنْ يَّكُفَّ بَأْسَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا ۗوَاللّٰهُ اَشَدُّ بَأْسًا وَّاَشَدُّ تَنْكِيْلًا ٨٤
- faqātil
- فَقَٰتِلْ
- So fight
- fī
- فِى
- in
- sabīli
- سَبِيلِ
- (the) way
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- lā
- لَا
- not
- tukallafu
- تُكَلَّفُ
- are you responsible
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- nafsaka
- نَفْسَكَۚ
- (for) yourself
- waḥarriḍi
- وَحَرِّضِ
- And encourage
- l-mu'minīna
- ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَۖ
- the believers
- ʿasā
- عَسَى
- perhaps
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- an
- أَن
- will
- yakuffa
- يَكُفَّ
- restrain
- basa
- بَأْسَ
- (the) might
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- (of) those who
- kafarū
- كَفَرُوا۟ۚ
- disbelieved
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- ashaddu
- أَشَدُّ
- (is) Stronger
- basan
- بَأْسًا
- (in) Might
- wa-ashaddu
- وَأَشَدُّ
- and Stronger
- tankīlan
- تَنكِيلًا
- (in) punishment
So fight, [O Muhammad], in the cause of Allah; you are not held responsible except for yourself. And encourage the believers [to join you] that perhaps Allah will restrain the [military] might of those who disbelieve. And Allah is greater in might and stronger in [exemplary] punishment. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 84)Tafsir
مَنْ يَّشْفَعْ شَفَاعَةً حَسَنَةً يَّكُنْ لَّهٗ نَصِيْبٌ مِّنْهَا ۚ وَمَنْ يَّشْفَعْ شَفَاعَةً سَيِّئَةً يَّكُنْ لَّهٗ كِفْلٌ مِّنْهَا ۗ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مُّقِيْتًا ٨٥
- man
- مَّن
- Whoever
- yashfaʿ
- يَشْفَعْ
- intercedes
- shafāʿatan
- شَفَٰعَةً
- an intercession
- ḥasanatan
- حَسَنَةً
- good
- yakun
- يَكُن
- will have
- lahu
- لَّهُۥ
- for him
- naṣībun
- نَصِيبٌ
- a share
- min'hā
- مِّنْهَاۖ
- of it
- waman
- وَمَن
- and whoever
- yashfaʿ
- يَشْفَعْ
- intercedes
- shafāʿatan
- شَفَٰعَةً
- an intercession
- sayyi-atan
- سَيِّئَةً
- evil
- yakun
- يَكُن
- will have
- lahu
- لَّهُۥ
- for him
- kif'lun
- كِفْلٌ
- a portion
- min'hā
- مِّنْهَاۗ
- of it
- wakāna
- وَكَانَ
- And is
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- on
- kulli
- كُلِّ
- every
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- thing
- muqītan
- مُّقِيتًا
- a Keeper
Whoever intercedes for a good cause will have a share [i.e., reward] therefrom; and whoever intercedes for an evil cause will have a portion [i.e., burden] therefrom. And ever is Allah, over all things, a Keeper. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 85)Tafsir
وَاِذَا حُيِّيْتُمْ بِتَحِيَّةٍ فَحَيُّوْا بِاَحْسَنَ مِنْهَآ اَوْ رُدُّوْهَا ۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَسِيْبًا ٨٦
- wa-idhā
- وَإِذَا
- And when
- ḥuyyītum
- حُيِّيتُم
- you are greeted
- bitaḥiyyatin
- بِتَحِيَّةٍ
- with a greeting
- faḥayyū
- فَحَيُّوا۟
- then greet
- bi-aḥsana
- بِأَحْسَنَ
- with better
- min'hā
- مِنْهَآ
- than it
- aw
- أَوْ
- or
- ruddūhā
- رُدُّوهَآۗ
- return it
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- kāna
- كَانَ
- is
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- of
- kulli
- كُلِّ
- every
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- thing
- ḥasīban
- حَسِيبًا
- an Accountant
And when you are greeted with a greeting, greet [in return] with one better than it or [at least] return it [in a like manner]. Indeed Allah is ever, over all things, an Accountant. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 86)Tafsir
اَللّٰهُ لَآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَۗ لَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْ اِلٰى يَوْمِ الْقِيٰمَةِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيْهِ ۗ وَمَنْ اَصْدَقُ مِنَ اللّٰهِ حَدِيْثًا ࣖ ٨٧
- al-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah -
- lā
- لَآ
- (there is) no
- ilāha
- إِلَٰهَ
- god
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- huwa
- هُوَۚ
- Him
- layajmaʿannakum
- لَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْ
- surely He will gather you
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- to
- yawmi
- يَوْمِ
- (the) Day
- l-qiyāmati
- ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ
- (of) Resurrection -
- lā
- لَا
- no
- rayba
- رَيْبَ
- doubt
- fīhi
- فِيهِۗ
- about it
- waman
- وَمَنْ
- And who
- aṣdaqu
- أَصْدَقُ
- (is) more truthful
- mina
- مِنَ
- than
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- ḥadīthan
- حَدِيثًا
- (in) statement
Allah – there is no deity except Him. He will surely assemble you for [account on] the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt. And who is more truthful than Allah in statement. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 87)Tafsir
۞ فَمَا لَكُمْ فِى الْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ فِئَتَيْنِ وَاللّٰهُ اَرْكَسَهُمْ بِمَا كَسَبُوْا ۗ اَتُرِيْدُوْنَ اَنْ تَهْدُوْا مَنْ اَضَلَّ اللّٰهُ ۗوَمَنْ يُّضْلِلِ اللّٰهُ فَلَنْ تَجِدَ لَهٗ سَبِيْلًا ٨٨
- famā
- فَمَا
- So what
- lakum
- لَكُمْ
- (is the matter) with you
- fī
- فِى
- concerning
- l-munāfiqīna
- ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ
- the hypocrites (that)
- fi-atayni
- فِئَتَيْنِ
- (you have become) two parties?
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- While Allah
- arkasahum
- أَرْكَسَهُم
- cast them back
- bimā
- بِمَا
- for what
- kasabū
- كَسَبُوٓا۟ۚ
- they earned
- aturīdūna
- أَتُرِيدُونَ
- Do you wish
- an
- أَن
- that
- tahdū
- تَهْدُوا۟
- you guide
- man
- مَنْ
- whom
- aḍalla
- أَضَلَّ
- is let astray?
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُۖ
- (by) Allah?
- waman
- وَمَن
- And whoever
- yuḍ'lili
- يُضْلِلِ
- is let astray
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- (by) Allah
- falan
- فَلَن
- then never
- tajida
- تَجِدَ
- will you find
- lahu
- لَهُۥ
- for him
- sabīlan
- سَبِيلًا
- a way
What is [the matter] with you [that you are] two groups concerning the hypocrites, while Allah has made them fall back [into error and disbelief] for what they earned. Do you wish to guide those whom Allah has sent astray? And he whom Allah sends astray – never will you find for him a way [of guidance]. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 88)Tafsir
وَدُّوْا لَوْ تَكْفُرُوْنَ كَمَا كَفَرُوْا فَتَكُوْنُوْنَ سَوَاۤءً فَلَا تَتَّخِذُوْا مِنْهُمْ اَوْلِيَاۤءَ حَتّٰى يُهَاجِرُوْا فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ ۗ فَاِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَخُذُوْهُمْ وَاقْتُلُوْهُمْ حَيْثُ وَجَدْتُّمُوْهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوْا مِنْهُمْ وَلِيًّا وَّلَا نَصِيْرًاۙ ٨٩
- waddū
- وَدُّوا۟
- They wish
- law
- لَوْ
- if
- takfurūna
- تَكْفُرُونَ
- you disbelieve
- kamā
- كَمَا
- as
- kafarū
- كَفَرُوا۟
- they disbelieved
- fatakūnūna
- فَتَكُونُونَ
- and you would be
- sawāan
- سَوَآءًۖ
- alike
- falā
- فَلَا
- So (do) not
- tattakhidhū
- تَتَّخِذُوا۟
- take
- min'hum
- مِنْهُمْ
- from them
- awliyāa
- أَوْلِيَآءَ
- allies
- ḥattā
- حَتَّىٰ
- until
- yuhājirū
- يُهَاجِرُوا۟
- they emigrate
- fī
- فِى
- in
- sabīli
- سَبِيلِ
- (the) way
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِۚ
- (of) Allah
- fa-in
- فَإِن
- But if
- tawallaw
- تَوَلَّوْا۟
- they turn back
- fakhudhūhum
- فَخُذُوهُمْ
- seize them
- wa-uq'tulūhum
- وَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ
- and kill them
- ḥaythu
- حَيْثُ
- wherever
- wajadttumūhum
- وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْۖ
- you find them
- walā
- وَلَا
- And (do) not
- tattakhidhū
- تَتَّخِذُوا۟
- take
- min'hum
- مِنْهُمْ
- from them
- waliyyan
- وَلِيًّا
- any ally
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- naṣīran
- نَصِيرًا
- any helper
They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved so you would be alike. So do not take from among them allies until they emigrate for the cause of Allah. But if they turn away [i.e., refuse], then seize them and kill them [for their betrayal] wherever you find them and take not from among them any ally or helper, (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 89)Tafsir
اِلَّا الَّذِيْنَ يَصِلُوْنَ اِلٰى قَوْمٍۢ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُمْ مِّيْثَاقٌ اَوْ جَاۤءُوْكُمْ حَصِرَتْ صُدُوْرُهُمْ اَنْ يُّقَاتِلُوْكُمْ اَوْ يُقَاتِلُوْا قَوْمَهُمْ ۗ وَلَوْ شَاۤءَ اللّٰهُ لَسَلَّطَهُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ فَلَقَاتَلُوْكُمْ ۚ فَاِنِ اعْتَزَلُوْكُمْ فَلَمْ يُقَاتِلُوْكُمْ وَاَلْقَوْا اِلَيْكُمُ السَّلَمَ ۙ فَمَا جَعَلَ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ سَبِيْلًا ٩٠
- illā
- إِلَّا
- Except
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- yaṣilūna
- يَصِلُونَ
- join
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- [to]
- qawmin
- قَوْمٍۭ
- a group
- baynakum
- بَيْنَكُمْ
- between you
- wabaynahum
- وَبَيْنَهُم
- and between them
- mīthāqun
- مِّيثَٰقٌ
- (is) a treaty
- aw
- أَوْ
- or
- jāūkum
- جَآءُوكُمْ
- those who come to you
- ḥaṣirat
- حَصِرَتْ
- restraining
- ṣudūruhum
- صُدُورُهُمْ
- their hearts
- an
- أَن
- that
- yuqātilūkum
- يُقَٰتِلُوكُمْ
- they fight you
- aw
- أَوْ
- or
- yuqātilū
- يُقَٰتِلُوا۟
- they fight
- qawmahum
- قَوْمَهُمْۚ
- their people
- walaw
- وَلَوْ
- And if
- shāa
- شَآءَ
- (had) willed
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- lasallaṭahum
- لَسَلَّطَهُمْ
- surely He (would have) given them power
- ʿalaykum
- عَلَيْكُمْ
- over you
- falaqātalūkum
- فَلَقَٰتَلُوكُمْۚ
- and surely they (would have) fought you
- fa-ini
- فَإِنِ
- So if
- iʿ'tazalūkum
- ٱعْتَزَلُوكُمْ
- they withdraw from you
- falam
- فَلَمْ
- and (do) not
- yuqātilūkum
- يُقَٰتِلُوكُمْ
- fight against you
- wa-alqaw
- وَأَلْقَوْا۟
- and offer
- ilaykumu
- إِلَيْكُمُ
- to you
- l-salama
- ٱلسَّلَمَ
- [the] peace
- famā
- فَمَا
- then not
- jaʿala
- جَعَلَ
- (has) made
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- lakum
- لَكُمْ
- for you
- ʿalayhim
- عَلَيْهِمْ
- against them
- sabīlan
- سَبِيلًا
- a way
Except for those who take refuge with a people between yourselves and whom is a treaty or those who come to you, their hearts strained at [the prospect of] fighting you or fighting their own people. And if Allah had willed, He could have given them power over you, and they would have fought you. So if they remove themselves from you and do not fight you and offer you peace, then Allah has not made for you a cause [for fighting] against them. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 90)Tafsir
