(The Women)

31

اِنْ تَجْتَنِبُوْا كَبَاۤىِٕرَ مَا تُنْهَوْنَ عَنْهُ نُكَفِّرْ عَنْكُمْ سَيِّاٰتِكُمْ وَنُدْخِلْكُمْ مُّدْخَلًا كَرِيْمًا ٣١

in
إِن
If
tajtanibū
تَجْتَنِبُوا۟
you avoid
kabāira
كَبَآئِرَ
great (sins)
مَا
(of) what
tun'hawna
تُنْهَوْنَ
you are forbidden
ʿanhu
عَنْهُ
from [it]
nukaffir
نُكَفِّرْ
We will remove
ʿankum
عَنكُمْ
from you
sayyiātikum
سَيِّـَٔاتِكُمْ
your evil deeds
wanud'khil'kum
وَنُدْخِلْكُم
and We will admit you
mud'khalan
مُّدْخَلًا
(to) an entrance
karīman
كَرِيمًا
a noble
If you avoid the major sins which you are forbidden, We will remove from you your lesser sins and admit you to a noble entrance [into Paradise]. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 31)
Tafsir
32

وَلَا تَتَمَنَّوْا مَا فَضَّلَ اللّٰهُ بِهٖ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلٰى بَعْضٍ ۗ لِلرِّجَالِ نَصِيْبٌ مِّمَّا اكْتَسَبُوْا ۗ وَلِلنِّسَاۤءِ نَصِيْبٌ مِّمَّا اكْتَسَبْنَ ۗوَسْـَٔلُوا اللّٰهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهٖ ۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيْمًا ٣٢

walā
وَلَا
And (do) not
tatamannaw
تَتَمَنَّوْا۟
covet
مَا
what
faḍḍala
فَضَّلَ
(has) bestowed
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
bihi
بِهِۦ
[with it]
baʿḍakum
بَعْضَكُمْ
some of you
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
over
baʿḍin
بَعْضٍۚ
others
lilrrijāli
لِّلرِّجَالِ
For men
naṣībun
نَصِيبٌ
(is) a share
mimmā
مِّمَّا
of what
ik'tasabū
ٱكْتَسَبُوا۟ۖ
they earned
walilnnisāi
وَلِلنِّسَآءِ
and for women
naṣībun
نَصِيبٌ
(is) a share
mimmā
مِّمَّا
of what
ik'tasabna
ٱكْتَسَبْنَۚ
they earned
wasalū
وَسْـَٔلُوا۟
And ask
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
min
مِن
of
faḍlihi
فَضْلِهِۦٓۗ
His Bounty
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
kāna
كَانَ
is
bikulli
بِكُلِّ
of every
shayin
شَىْءٍ
thing
ʿalīman
عَلِيمًا
All-Knower
And do not wish for that by which Allah has made some of you exceed others. For men is a share of what they have earned, and for women is a share of what they have earned. And ask Allah of His bounty. Indeed Allah is ever, of all things, Knowing. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 32)
Tafsir
33

وَلِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مَوَالِيَ مِمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَالِدٰنِ وَالْاَقْرَبُوْنَ ۗ وَالَّذِيْنَ عَقَدَتْ اَيْمَانُكُمْ فَاٰتُوْهُمْ نَصِيْبَهُمْ ۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيْدًا ࣖ ٣٣

walikullin
وَلِكُلٍّ
And for all
jaʿalnā
جَعَلْنَا
We (have) made
mawāliya
مَوَٰلِىَ
heirs
mimmā
مِمَّا
of what
taraka
تَرَكَ
(is) left
l-wālidāni
ٱلْوَٰلِدَانِ
(by) the parents
wal-aqrabūna
وَٱلْأَقْرَبُونَۚ
and the relatives
wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those whom
ʿaqadat
عَقَدَتْ
pledged
aymānukum
أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ
your right hands -
faātūhum
فَـَٔاتُوهُمْ
then give them
naṣībahum
نَصِيبَهُمْۚ
their share
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
kāna
كَانَ
is
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
over
kulli
كُلِّ
every
shayin
شَىْءٍ
thing
shahīdan
شَهِيدًا
a Witness
And for all, We have made heirs to what is left by parents and relatives. And to those whom your oaths have bound [to you] – give them their share. Indeed Allah is ever, over all things, a Witness. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 33)
Tafsir
34

اَلرِّجَالُ قَوَّامُوْنَ عَلَى النِّسَاۤءِ بِمَا فَضَّلَ اللّٰهُ بَعْضَهُمْ عَلٰى بَعْضٍ وَّبِمَآ اَنْفَقُوْا مِنْ اَمْوَالِهِمْ ۗ فَالصّٰلِحٰتُ قٰنِتٰتٌ حٰفِظٰتٌ لِّلْغَيْبِ بِمَا حَفِظَ اللّٰهُ ۗوَالّٰتِيْ تَخَافُوْنَ نُشُوْزَهُنَّ فَعِظُوْهُنَّ وَاهْجُرُوْهُنَّ فِى الْمَضَاجِعِ وَاضْرِبُوْهُنَّ ۚ فَاِنْ اَطَعْنَكُمْ فَلَا تَبْغُوْا عَلَيْهِنَّ سَبِيْلًا ۗاِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَلِيًّا كَبِيْرًا ٣٤

al-rijālu
ٱلرِّجَالُ
[The] men
qawwāmūna
قَوَّٰمُونَ
(are) protectors
ʿalā
عَلَى
of
l-nisāi
ٱلنِّسَآءِ
the women
bimā
بِمَا
because
faḍḍala
فَضَّلَ
(has) bestowed
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
baʿḍahum
بَعْضَهُمْ
some of them
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
over
baʿḍin
بَعْضٍ
others
wabimā
وَبِمَآ
and because
anfaqū
أَنفَقُوا۟
they spend
min
مِنْ
from
amwālihim
أَمْوَٰلِهِمْۚ
their wealth
fal-ṣāliḥātu
فَٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتُ
So the righteous women
qānitātun
قَٰنِتَٰتٌ
(are) obedient
ḥāfiẓātun
حَٰفِظَٰتٌ
guarding
lil'ghaybi
لِّلْغَيْبِ
in the unseen
bimā
بِمَا
that which
ḥafiẓa
حَفِظَ
(orders) them to guard
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُۚ
(by) Allah
wa-allātī
وَٱلَّٰتِى
And those (from) whom
takhāfūna
تَخَافُونَ
you fear
nushūzahunna
نُشُوزَهُنَّ
their ill-conduct
faʿiẓūhunna
فَعِظُوهُنَّ
then advise them
wa-uh'jurūhunna
وَٱهْجُرُوهُنَّ
and forsake them
فِى
in
l-maḍājiʿi
ٱلْمَضَاجِعِ
the bed
wa-iḍ'ribūhunna
وَٱضْرِبُوهُنَّۖ
and set forth to them/ strike them
fa-in
فَإِنْ
Then if
aṭaʿnakum
أَطَعْنَكُمْ
they obey you
falā
فَلَا
then (do) not
tabghū
تَبْغُوا۟
seek
ʿalayhinna
عَلَيْهِنَّ
against them
sabīlan
سَبِيلًاۗ
a way
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
kāna
كَانَ
is
ʿaliyyan
عَلِيًّا
Most High
kabīran
كَبِيرًا
Most Great
Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance – [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], strike them [lightly]. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 34)
Tafsir
35

وَاِنْ خِفْتُمْ شِقَاقَ بَيْنِهِمَا فَابْعَثُوْا حَكَمًا مِّنْ اَهْلِهٖ وَحَكَمًا مِّنْ اَهْلِهَا ۚ اِنْ يُّرِيْدَآ اِصْلَاحًا يُّوَفِّقِ اللّٰهُ بَيْنَهُمَا ۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَلِيْمًا خَبِيْرًا ٣٥

wa-in
وَإِنْ
And if
khif'tum
خِفْتُمْ
you fear
shiqāqa
شِقَاقَ
a dissension
baynihimā
بَيْنِهِمَا
between (the) two of them
fa-ib'ʿathū
فَٱبْعَثُوا۟
then send
ḥakaman
حَكَمًا
an arbitrator
min
مِّنْ
from
ahlihi
أَهْلِهِۦ
his family
waḥakaman
وَحَكَمًا
and an arbitrator
min
مِّنْ
from
ahlihā
أَهْلِهَآ
her family
in
إِن
If
yurīdā
يُرِيدَآ
they both wish
iṣ'lāḥan
إِصْلَٰحًا
reconciliation
yuwaffiqi
يُوَفِّقِ
will cause reconciliation
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
baynahumā
بَيْنَهُمَآۗ
between both of them
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
kāna
كَانَ
is
ʿalīman
عَلِيمًا
All-Knower
khabīran
خَبِيرًا
All-Aware
And if you fear dissension between the two, send an arbitrator from his people and an arbitrator from her people. If they both desire reconciliation, Allah will cause it between them. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Aware. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 35)
Tafsir
36

۞ وَاعْبُدُوا اللّٰهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوْا بِهٖ شَيْـًٔا وَّبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ اِحْسَانًا وَّبِذِى الْقُرْبٰى وَالْيَتٰمٰى وَالْمَسٰكِيْنِ وَالْجَارِ ذِى الْقُرْبٰى وَالْجَارِ الْجُنُبِ وَالصَّاحِبِ بِالْجَنْۢبِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيْلِۙ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُكُمْ ۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَنْ كَانَ مُخْتَالًا فَخُوْرًاۙ ٣٦

wa-uʿ'budū
وَٱعْبُدُوا۟
And worship
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
walā
وَلَا
And (do) not
tush'rikū
تُشْرِكُوا۟
associate
bihi
بِهِۦ
with Him
shayan
شَيْـًٔاۖ
anything
wabil-wālidayni
وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ
and to the parents
iḥ'sānan
إِحْسَٰنًا
(do) good
wabidhī
وَبِذِى
and with
l-qur'bā
ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ
the relatives
wal-yatāmā
وَٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ
and the orphans
wal-masākīni
وَٱلْمَسَٰكِينِ
and the needy
wal-jāri
وَٱلْجَارِ
and the neighbor
dhī
ذِى
(who is)
l-qur'bā
ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ
near
wal-jāri
وَٱلْجَارِ
and the neighbor
l-junubi
ٱلْجُنُبِ
(who is) farther away
wal-ṣāḥibi
وَٱلصَّاحِبِ
and the companion
bil-janbi
بِٱلْجَنۢبِ
by your side
wa-ib'ni
وَٱبْنِ
and the
l-sabīli
ٱلسَّبِيلِ
traveler
wamā
وَمَا
and what
malakat
مَلَكَتْ
possess[ed]
aymānukum
أَيْمَٰنُكُمْۗ
your right hands
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
لَا
(does) not
yuḥibbu
يُحِبُّ
love
man
مَن
(the one) who
kāna
كَانَ
is
mukh'tālan
مُخْتَالًا
[a] proud
fakhūran
فَخُورًا
(and) [a] boastful
Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful, (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 36)
Tafsir
37

ۨالَّذِيْنَ يَبْخَلُوْنَ وَيَأْمُرُوْنَ النَّاسَ بِالْبُخْلِ وَيَكْتُمُوْنَ مَآ اٰتٰىهُمُ اللّٰهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهٖۗ وَاَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكٰفِرِيْنَ عَذَابًا مُّهِيْنًاۚ ٣٧

alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
yabkhalūna
يَبْخَلُونَ
are stingy
wayamurūna
وَيَأْمُرُونَ
and order
l-nāsa
ٱلنَّاسَ
the people
bil-bukh'li
بِٱلْبُخْلِ
[of] stinginess
wayaktumūna
وَيَكْتُمُونَ
and hide
مَآ
what
ātāhumu
ءَاتَىٰهُمُ
(has) given them
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
min
مِن
of
faḍlihi
فَضْلِهِۦۗ
His Bounty
wa-aʿtadnā
وَأَعْتَدْنَا
and We (have) prepared
lil'kāfirīna
لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ
for the disbelievers
ʿadhāban
عَذَابًا
a punishment
muhīnan
مُّهِينًا
humiliating
Who are stingy and enjoin upon [other] people stinginess and conceal what Allah has given them of His bounty – and We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment – (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 37)
Tafsir
38

وَالَّذِيْنَ يُنْفِقُوْنَ اَمْوَالَهُمْ رِئَاۤءَ النَّاسِ وَلَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِاللّٰهِ وَلَا بِالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِ ۗ وَمَنْ يَّكُنِ الشَّيْطٰنُ لَهٗ قَرِيْنًا فَسَاۤءَ قَرِيْنًا ٣٨

wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
yunfiqūna
يُنفِقُونَ
spend
amwālahum
أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ
their wealth
riāa
رِئَآءَ
to be seen
l-nāsi
ٱلنَّاسِ
(by) the people
walā
وَلَا
and not
yu'minūna
يُؤْمِنُونَ
they believe
bil-lahi
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah
walā
وَلَا
and not
bil-yawmi
بِٱلْيَوْمِ
in the Day
l-ākhiri
ٱلْءَاخِرِۗ
the Last
waman
وَمَن
and whoever
yakuni
يَكُنِ
has
l-shayṭānu
ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ
the Shaitaan
lahu
لَهُۥ
for him
qarīnan
قَرِينًا
(as) companion -
fasāa
فَسَآءَ
then evil
qarīnan
قَرِينًا
(is he as) a companion
And [also] those who spend of their wealth to be seen by the people and believe not in Allah nor in the Last Day. And he to whom Satan is a companion – then evil is he as a companion. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 38)
Tafsir
39

وَمَاذَا عَلَيْهِمْ لَوْ اٰمَنُوْا بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِ وَاَنْفَقُوْا مِمَّا رَزَقَهُمُ اللّٰهُ ۗوَكَانَ اللّٰهُ بِهِمْ عَلِيْمًا ٣٩

wamādhā
وَمَاذَا
And what
ʿalayhim
عَلَيْهِمْ
(is) against them
law
لَوْ
if
āmanū
ءَامَنُوا۟
they believed
bil-lahi
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah
wal-yawmi
وَٱلْيَوْمِ
and the Day
l-ākhiri
ٱلْءَاخِرِ
the Last
wa-anfaqū
وَأَنفَقُوا۟
and spent
mimmā
مِمَّا
from what
razaqahumu
رَزَقَهُمُ
(has) provided them?
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُۚ
Allah?
wakāna
وَكَانَ
And is
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
bihim
بِهِمْ
about them
ʿalīman
عَلِيمًا
All-Knower
And what [harm would come] upon them if they believed in Allah and the Last Day and spent out of what Allah provided for them? And Allah is ever, about them, Knowing. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 39)
Tafsir
40

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ ۚوَاِنْ تَكُ حَسَنَةً يُّضٰعِفْهَا وَيُؤْتِ مِنْ لَّدُنْهُ اَجْرًا عَظِيْمًا ٤٠

inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
لَا
(does) not
yaẓlimu
يَظْلِمُ
wrong
mith'qāla
مِثْقَالَ
(as much as) weight
dharratin
ذَرَّةٍۖ
(of) an atom
wa-in
وَإِن
And if
taku
تَكُ
there is
ḥasanatan
حَسَنَةً
a good
yuḍāʿif'hā
يُضَٰعِفْهَا
He doubles it
wayu'ti
وَيُؤْتِ
and gives
min
مِن
from
ladun'hu
لَّدُنْهُ
near Him
ajran
أَجْرًا
a reward
ʿaẓīman
عَظِيمًا
great
Indeed, Allah does not do injustice, [even] as much as an atom's weight; while if there is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward. (QS. [4] An-Nisa: 40)
