Al-Qur'an Surah Az-Zumar Verse 56
Az-Zumar [39]: 56 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
اَنْ تَقُوْلَ نَفْسٌ يّٰحَسْرَتٰى عَلٰى مَا فَرَّطْتُّ فِيْ جَنْۢبِ اللّٰهِ وَاِنْ كُنْتُ لَمِنَ السَّاخِرِيْنَۙ (الزمر : ٣٩)

Transliteration:
An taqoola nafsuny yaahasrataa 'alaa maa farrattu fee jambil laahi wa in kuntu laminas saakhireen(QS. az-Zumar:56)
English / Sahih Translation:
Lest a soul should say, "Oh, [how great is] my regret over what I neglected in regard to Allah and that I was among the mockers." (QS. Az-Zumar, ayah 56)

lest someone should say, “Pity on me, because I fell short in respect of (observing the rights of) Allah and in fact, I was one of those who mocked”,

English Literal
That (E) a self says: "Oh my grief/sadness on what I neglected/abused/wasted in God`s side/direction/right, and that truly I was from (E) the humiliators/mockers ."

Tafsir jalalayn
so apply yourselves to this, before any soul should say, `Alas for me (y hasrat is actually y hasrat, meaning `O regret of mine') for what I have neglected of my duty to God, in other words, [of] obedience to Him. Indeed (wa-in; in is softened in place of the hardened form, in other words [understand it as] wa-inn) I was among those who ridiculed', His religion and His Book;
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
أَن تَقُولَ نَفْسٌ يَا حَسْرَتَى علَى مَا فَرَّطتُ فِي جَنبِ اللَّهِ
Lest a person should say;"Alas, my grief that I was undutiful to Allah..."
means, on the Day of Resurrection, the sinner who neglected to repent and turn back to Allah will regret it, and will wish that he had been one of the righteous who obeyed Allah.
وَإِن كُنتُ لَمِنَ السَّاخِرِينَ
and I was indeed among those who mocked.
means, `my actions in this world were those of one who ridicules and makes fun, not of one who has firm faith and is sincere.'
أَوْ تَقُولَ لَوْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ هَدَانِي لَكُنتُ مِنَ الْمُتَّقِينَ
