(The Troops)

21

اَلَمْ تَرَ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ اَنْزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءً فَسَلَكَهٗ يَنَابِيْعَ فِى الْاَرْضِ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُ بِهٖ زَرْعًا مُّخْتَلِفًا اَلْوَانُهٗ ثُمَّ يَهِيْجُ فَتَرٰىهُ مُصْفَرًّا ثُمَّ يَجْعَلُهٗ حُطَامًا ۗاِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَذِكْرٰى لِاُولِى الْاَلْبَابِ ࣖ ٢١

alam
أَلَمْ
Do not
tara
تَرَ
you see
anna
أَنَّ
that
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
anzala
أَنزَلَ
sends down
mina
مِنَ
from
l-samāi
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the sky
māan
مَآءً
water
fasalakahu
فَسَلَكَهُۥ
and He makes it flow
yanābīʿa
يَنَٰبِيعَ
(as) springs
فِى
in
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
thumma
ثُمَّ
then
yukh'riju
يُخْرِجُ
He produces
bihi
بِهِۦ
with it
zarʿan
زَرْعًا
crops
mukh'talifan
مُّخْتَلِفًا
(of) different
alwānuhu
أَلْوَٰنُهُۥ
colors
thumma
ثُمَّ
then
yahīju
يَهِيجُ
they wither
fatarāhu
فَتَرَىٰهُ
and you see them
muṣ'farran
مُصْفَرًّا
turn yellow
thumma
ثُمَّ
then
yajʿaluhu
يَجْعَلُهُۥ
He makes them
ḥuṭāman
حُطَٰمًاۚ
debris?
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
that
ladhik'rā
لَذِكْرَىٰ
surely, (is) a reminder
li-ulī
لِأُو۟لِى
for those of understanding
l-albābi
ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ
for those of understanding
Do you not see that Allah sends down rain from the sky and makes it flow as springs [and rivers] in the earth; then He produces thereby crops of varying colors; then they dry and you see them turned yellow; then He makes them [scattered] debris. Indeed in that is a reminder for those of understanding. (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 21)
Tafsir
22

اَفَمَنْ شَرَحَ اللّٰهُ صَدْرَهٗ لِلْاِسْلَامِ فَهُوَ عَلٰى نُوْرٍ مِّنْ رَّبِّهٖ ۗفَوَيْلٌ لِّلْقٰسِيَةِ قُلُوْبُهُمْ مِّنْ ذِكْرِ اللّٰهِ ۗ اُولٰۤىِٕكَ فِيْ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِيْنٍ ٢٢

afaman
أَفَمَن
So is (one for) whom
sharaḥa
شَرَحَ
Allah has expanded
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has expanded
ṣadrahu
صَدْرَهُۥ
his breast
lil'is'lāmi
لِلْإِسْلَٰمِ
for Islam
fahuwa
فَهُوَ
so he
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
(is) upon
nūrin
نُورٍ
a light
min
مِّن
from
rabbihi
رَّبِّهِۦۚ
his Lord
fawaylun
فَوَيْلٌ
So woe
lil'qāsiyati
لِّلْقَٰسِيَةِ
to (those are) hardened
qulūbuhum
قُلُوبُهُم
their hearts
min
مِّن
from
dhik'ri
ذِكْرِ
(the) remembrance of Allah
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِۚ
(the) remembrance of Allah
ulāika
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
Those
فِى
(are) in
ḍalālin
ضَلَٰلٍ
error
mubīnin
مُّبِينٍ
clear
So is one whose breast Allah has expanded to [accept] IsLam and he is upon [i.e., guided by] a light from his Lord [like one whose heart rejects it]? Then woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allah. Those are in manifest error. (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 22)
Tafsir
23

اَللّٰهُ نَزَّلَ اَحْسَنَ الْحَدِيْثِ كِتٰبًا مُّتَشَابِهًا مَّثَانِيَۙ تَقْشَعِرُّ مِنْهُ جُلُوْدُ الَّذِيْنَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ ۚ ثُمَّ تَلِيْنُ جُلُوْدُهُمْ وَقُلُوْبُهُمْ اِلٰى ذِكْرِ اللّٰهِ ۗذٰلِكَ هُدَى اللّٰهِ يَهْدِيْ بِهٖ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ ۗوَمَنْ يُّضْلِلِ اللّٰهُ فَمَا لَهٗ مِنْ هَادٍ ٢٣

al-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
nazzala
نَزَّلَ
has revealed
aḥsana
أَحْسَنَ
(the) best
l-ḥadīthi
ٱلْحَدِيثِ
(of) [the] statement
kitāban
كِتَٰبًا
a Book
mutashābihan
مُّتَشَٰبِهًا
(its parts) resembling each other
mathāniya
مَّثَانِىَ
oft-repeated
taqshaʿirru
تَقْشَعِرُّ
Shiver
min'hu
مِنْهُ
from it
julūdu
جُلُودُ
(the) skins
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
(of) those who
yakhshawna
يَخْشَوْنَ
fear
rabbahum
رَبَّهُمْ
their Lord
thumma
ثُمَّ
then
talīnu
تَلِينُ
relax
julūduhum
جُلُودُهُمْ
their skins
waqulūbuhum
وَقُلُوبُهُمْ
and their hearts
ilā
إِلَىٰ
at
dhik'ri
ذِكْرِ
(the) remembrance
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِۚ
(of) Allah
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
That
hudā
هُدَى
(is the) guidance
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
yahdī
يَهْدِى
He guides
bihi
بِهِۦ
with it
man
مَن
whom
yashāu
يَشَآءُۚ
He wills
waman
وَمَن
And whoever
yuḍ'lili
يُضْلِلِ
Allah lets go astray
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah lets go astray
famā
فَمَا
then not
lahu
لَهُۥ
for him
min
مِنْ
any
hādin
هَادٍ
guide
Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance [i.e., mention] of Allah. That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allah sends astray – for him there is no guide. (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 23)
Tafsir
24

اَفَمَنْ يَّتَّقِيْ بِوَجْهِهٖ سُوْۤءَ الْعَذَابِ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ ۗوَقِيْلَ لِلظّٰلِمِيْنَ ذُوْقُوْا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْسِبُوْنَ ٢٤

afaman
أَفَمَن
Then (is) he who
yattaqī
يَتَّقِى
will shield
biwajhihi
بِوَجْهِهِۦ
with his face
sūa
سُوٓءَ
(the) worst
l-ʿadhābi
ٱلْعَذَابِ
punishment
yawma
يَوْمَ
(on the) Day
l-qiyāmati
ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِۚ
(of) the Resurrection?
waqīla
وَقِيلَ
And it will be said
lilẓẓālimīna
لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ
to the wrongdoers
dhūqū
ذُوقُوا۟
"Taste
مَا
what
kuntum
كُنتُمْ
you used (to)
taksibūna
تَكْسِبُونَ
earn"
Then is he who will shield with his face the worst of the punishment on the Day of Resurrection [like one secure from it]? And it will be said to the wrongdoers, "Taste what you used to earn." (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 24)
Tafsir
25

كَذَّبَ الَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ فَاَتٰىهُمُ الْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُوْنَ ٢٥

kadhaba
كَذَّبَ
Denied
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
min
مِن
(were) before them
qablihim
قَبْلِهِمْ
(were) before them
fa-atāhumu
فَأَتَىٰهُمُ
so came upon them
l-ʿadhābu
ٱلْعَذَابُ
the punishment
min
مِنْ
from
ḥaythu
حَيْثُ
where
لَا
not
yashʿurūna
يَشْعُرُونَ
they perceive
Those before them denied, and punishment came upon them from where they did not perceive. (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 25)
Tafsir
26

فَاَذَاقَهُمُ اللّٰهُ الْخِزْيَ فِى الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَا ۚوَلَعَذَابُ الْاٰخِرَةِ اَكْبَرُ ۘ لَوْ كَانُوْا يَعْلَمُوْنَ ٢٦

fa-adhāqahumu
فَأَذَاقَهُمُ
So Allah made them taste
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
So Allah made them taste
l-khiz'ya
ٱلْخِزْىَ
the disgrace
فِى
in
l-ḥayati
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
the life
l-dun'yā
ٱلدُّنْيَاۖ
(of) the world
walaʿadhābu
وَلَعَذَابُ
and certainly (the) punishment
l-ākhirati
ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
(of) the Hereafter
akbaru
أَكْبَرُۚ
(is) greater
law
لَوْ
if
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they
yaʿlamūna
يَعْلَمُونَ
knew
So Allah made them taste disgrace in worldly life. But the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew. (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 26)
Tafsir
27

وَلَقَدْ ضَرَبْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِيْ هٰذَا الْقُرْاٰنِ مِنْ كُلِّ مَثَلٍ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُوْنَۚ ٢٧

walaqad
وَلَقَدْ
And indeed
ḍarabnā
ضَرَبْنَا
We have set forth
lilnnāsi
لِلنَّاسِ
for people
فِى
in
hādhā
هَٰذَا
this
l-qur'āni
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ
Quran
min
مِن
of
kulli
كُلِّ
every
mathalin
مَثَلٍ
example
laʿallahum
لَّعَلَّهُمْ
so that they may
yatadhakkarūna
يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
take heed
And We have certainly presented for the people in this Quran from every [kind of] example – that they might remember. (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 27)
Tafsir
28

قُرْاٰنًا عَرَبِيًّا غَيْرَ ذِيْ عِوَجٍ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُوْنَ ٢٨

qur'ānan
قُرْءَانًا
A Quran
ʿarabiyyan
عَرَبِيًّا
(in) Arabic
ghayra
غَيْرَ
without
dhī
ذِى
any
ʿiwajin
عِوَجٍ
crookedness
laʿallahum
لَّعَلَّهُمْ
that they may
yattaqūna
يَتَّقُونَ
become righteous
[It is] an Arabic Quran, without any deviance that they might become righteous. (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 28)
Tafsir
29

ضَرَبَ اللّٰهُ مَثَلًا رَّجُلًا فِيْهِ شُرَكَاۤءُ مُتَشَاكِسُوْنَ وَرَجُلًا سَلَمًا لِّرَجُلٍ هَلْ يَسْتَوِيٰنِ مَثَلًا ۗ اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ ۗبَلْ اَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ ٢٩

ḍaraba
ضَرَبَ
Allah sets forth
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah sets forth
mathalan
مَثَلًا
an example
rajulan
رَّجُلًا
a man
fīhi
فِيهِ
belonging to
shurakāu
شُرَكَآءُ
partners
mutashākisūna
مُتَشَٰكِسُونَ
quarreling
warajulan
وَرَجُلًا
and a man
salaman
سَلَمًا
(belonging) exclusively
lirajulin
لِّرَجُلٍ
to one man
hal
هَلْ
are
yastawiyāni
يَسْتَوِيَانِ
they both equal
mathalan
مَثَلًاۚ
(in) comparison?
l-ḥamdu
ٱلْحَمْدُ
All praise
lillahi
لِلَّهِۚ
(be) to Allah!
bal
بَلْ
Nay
aktharuhum
أَكْثَرُهُمْ
most of them
لَا
(do) not
yaʿlamūna
يَعْلَمُونَ
know
Allah presents an example: a man [i.e., slave] owned by quarreling partners and another belonging exclusively to one man – are they equal in comparison? Praise be to Allah! But most of them do not know. (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 29)
Tafsir
30

اِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ وَّاِنَّهُمْ مَّيِّتُوْنَ ۖ ٣٠

innaka
إِنَّكَ
Indeed you
mayyitun
مَيِّتٌ
will die
wa-innahum
وَإِنَّهُم
and indeed they
mayyitūna
مَّيِّتُونَ
will (also) die
Indeed, you are to die, and indeed, they are to die. (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 30)
