Al-Qur'an Surah Sad Verse 59

Mufti Taqi Usmani

(When the leaders of the infidels will see their followers entering the Hell after them, they will say to each other,) “This is a multitude rushing into (the Hell) with you - they are not welcome - they are to burn in the Fire.”

˹The misleaders will say to one another,˺ “Here is a crowd ˹of followers˺ being thrown in with us. They are not welcome, ˹for˺ they ˹too˺ will burn in the Fire.”[[ Meaning, they are not welcome since their presence in Hell with us will not benefit us in anyway. ]]

English Literal

This (is a) group/crowd bursting/plunging with you, (there is) no welcome with (for) them, that they are, they are entering/suffering the fire .

“This is a crowd rushing headlong with you.” There is no welcome for them. They will be scorched by the Fire.

Tafsir jalalayn

And it will be said to them as they enter the Fire with their followers; `This is a horde about to plunge, to enter, with you, into the Fire violently -- at which point those who used to be followed say; no welcome [is there] for them [here]!, in other words, [they will find] no comfort for them [here]. They will indeed roast in the Fire'.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

This is a troop entering with you (in Hell), no welcome for them! Verily, they shall enter in the Fire!

Here Allah tells us what the people of Hell will say to one another.

This is like the Ayah;

كُلَّمَا دَخَلَتْ أُمَّةٌ لَّعَنَتْ أُخْتَهَا

Every time a new nation enters, it curses its sister nation (that went before), (7;38)

which means, instead of greeting one another, they will curse one another, accuse one another of being liars and reject one another.

When a new group arrives, the keepers of Hell will say,
هَذَا فَوْجٌ مُّقْتَحِمٌ مَّعَكُمْ لَا مَرْحَبًا بِهِمْ إِنَّهُمْ صَالُوا النَّارِ
(This is a troop entering with you (in Hell), no welcome for them! Verily, they shall enter in the Fire!),

meaning, because they are of the people of Hell
