Al-Qur'an Surah Sad Verse 55
Sad [38]: 55 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
هٰذَا ۗوَاِنَّ لِلطّٰغِيْنَ لَشَرَّ مَاٰبٍۙ (ص : ٣٨)
- hādhā
- هَٰذَاۚ
- This (is so)!
- wa-inna
- وَإِنَّ
- And indeed
- lilṭṭāghīna
- لِلطَّٰغِينَ
- for the transgressors
- lasharra
- لَشَرَّ
- surely (is) an evil
- maābin
- مَـَٔابٍ
- place of return
Transliteration:
Haazaa; wa inna littaagheena lasharra ma-aab(QS. Ṣād:55)
English / Sahih Translation:
This [is so]. But indeed, for the transgressors is an evil place of return – (QS. Sad, ayah 55)

Having said this, the transgressors will surely have the most evil place to return:

That, which is mentioned, will be [the reward] for the believers [is so]; but for the insolent (this is a new sentence) there will surely be an evil [place of] return --
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
The Final Return of the Doomed
Having mentioned the final of the blessed, Allah follows that with mention of the final return of the doomed when they are resurrected and brought to account.
Allah says;
هَذَا وَإِنَّ لِلطَّاغِينَ
This is so! And for the Taghin,
which refers to those who disobey Allah, may He be glorified, and oppose the Messengers of Allah, peace be upon them,
لَشَرَّ مَأبٍ
will be an evil final return.
means, the worst final return.
Then Allah explains it by saying
