Al-Qur'an Surah Sad Verse 13
Sad [38]: 13 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَثَمُوْدُ وَقَوْمُ لُوْطٍ وَّاَصْحٰبُ لْـَٔيْكَةِ ۗ اُولٰۤىِٕكَ الْاَحْزَابُ (ص : ٣٨)
- wathamūdu
- وَثَمُودُ
- And Thamud
- waqawmu
- وَقَوْمُ
- and (the) people
- lūṭin
- لُوطٍ
- (of) Lut
- wa-aṣḥābu
- وَأَصْحَٰبُ
- and (the) companions
- al'aykati
- لْـَٔيْكَةِۚ
- (of) the wood
- ulāika
- أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
- Those
- l-aḥzābu
- ٱلْأَحْزَابُ
- (were) the companies
Transliteration:
Wa Samoodu wa qawmu Lootinw wa Ashaabul 'Aykah; ulaaa'ikal Ahzaab(QS. Ṣād:13)
English / Sahih Translation:
And [the tribe of] Thamud and the people of Lot and the companions of the thicket [i.e., people of Madyan]. Those are the companies. (QS. Sad, ayah 13)

and Thamūd and the people of LūT and the people of Aaikah have rejected (the messengers). They were the (strong) groups.

Tafsir jalalayn
and Thamd and the people of Lot and the dwellers in the wood, a small forest, namely, the people of Shu`ayb, peace be upon him -- those were the factions.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
وَثَمُودُ وَقَوْمُ لُوطٍ وَأَصْحَابُ الَايْكَةِ
Before them denied -- the people of Nuh; and `Ad; and Fir`awn the man of stakes, And Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the Dwellers of Al-Aykah;
Allah tells us about those past nations and the punishment and vengeance that struck them for their going against the Messengers and disbelieving in the Prophets, peace be upon them. We have already seen their stories in detail in numerous places (in the Qur'an).
Allah says;
أُوْلَيِكَ الاَْحْزَابُ
such were the Confederates.
meaning, `they were greater and stronger than you, they had more wealth and children, but that did not protect them from the punishment of Allah at all when the command of your Lord came to pass.'
Allah says;
إِن كُلٌّ إِلاَّ كَذَّبَ الرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ عِقَابِ
