وَهَلْ اَتٰىكَ نَبَؤُ الْخَصْمِۘ اِذْ تَسَوَّرُوا الْمِحْرَابَۙ ٢١
- wahal
- وَهَلْ
- And has (there)
- atāka
- أَتَىٰكَ
- come to you
- naba-u
- نَبَؤُا۟
- (the) news
- l-khaṣmi
- ٱلْخَصْمِ
- (of) the litigants
- idh
- إِذْ
- when
- tasawwarū
- تَسَوَّرُوا۟
- they climbed over the wall
- l-miḥ'rāba
- ٱلْمِحْرَابَ
- (of) the chamber?
And has there come to you the news of the adversaries, when they climbed over the wall of [his] prayer chamber – (QS. [38] Sad: 21)Tafsir
اِذْ دَخَلُوْا عَلٰى دَاوٗدَ فَفَزِعَ مِنْهُمْ قَالُوْا لَا تَخَفْۚ خَصْمٰنِ بَغٰى بَعْضُنَا عَلٰى بَعْضٍ فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا تُشْطِطْ وَاهْدِنَآ اِلٰى سَوَاۤءِ الصِّرَاطِ ٢٢
- idh
- إِذْ
- When
- dakhalū
- دَخَلُوا۟
- they entered
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- upon
- dāwūda
- دَاوُۥدَ
- Dawood
- fafaziʿa
- فَفَزِعَ
- and he was afraid
- min'hum
- مِنْهُمْۖ
- of them
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- they said
- lā
- لَا
- "(Do) not
- takhaf
- تَخَفْۖ
- fear
- khaṣmāni
- خَصْمَانِ
- (We are) two litigants
- baghā
- بَغَىٰ
- has wronged
- baʿḍunā
- بَعْضُنَا
- one of us
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- to
- baʿḍin
- بَعْضٍ
- another
- fa-uḥ'kum
- فَٱحْكُم
- so judge
- baynanā
- بَيْنَنَا
- between us
- bil-ḥaqi
- بِٱلْحَقِّ
- in truth
- walā
- وَلَا
- and (do) not
- tush'ṭiṭ
- تُشْطِطْ
- be unjust
- wa-ih'dinā
- وَٱهْدِنَآ
- and guide us
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- to
- sawāi
- سَوَآءِ
- an even
- l-ṣirāṭi
- ٱلصِّرَٰطِ
- [the] path
When they entered upon David and he was alarmed by them? They said, "Fear not. [We are] two adversaries, one of whom has wronged the other, so judge between us with truth and do not exceed [it] and guide us to the sound path. (QS. [38] Sad: 22)Tafsir
اِنَّ هٰذَآ اَخِيْ ۗ لَهٗ تِسْعٌ وَّتِسْعُوْنَ نَعْجَةً وَّلِيَ نَعْجَةٌ وَّاحِدَةٌ ۗفَقَالَ اَكْفِلْنِيْهَا وَعَزَّنِيْ فِى الْخِطَابِ ٢٣
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- hādhā
- هَٰذَآ
- this
- akhī
- أَخِى
- (is) my brother
- lahu
- لَهُۥ
- he has
- tis'ʿun
- تِسْعٌ
- ninety-nine
- watis'ʿūna
- وَتِسْعُونَ
- ninety-nine
- naʿjatan
- نَعْجَةً
- ewe(s)
- waliya
- وَلِىَ
- while I have
- naʿjatun
- نَعْجَةٌ
- ewe
- wāḥidatun
- وَٰحِدَةٌ
- one
- faqāla
- فَقَالَ
- so he said
- akfil'nīhā
- أَكْفِلْنِيهَا
- "Entrust her to me"
- waʿazzanī
- وَعَزَّنِى
- and he overpowered me
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-khiṭābi
- ٱلْخِطَابِ
- [the] speech"
Indeed this, my brother, has ninety-nine ewes, and I have one ewe; so he said, 'Entrust her to me,' and he overpowered me in speech." (QS. [38] Sad: 23)Tafsir
قَالَ لَقَدْ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعْجَتِكَ اِلٰى نِعَاجِهٖۗ وَاِنَّ كَثِيْرًا مِّنَ الْخُلَطَاۤءِ لَيَبْغِيْ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلٰى بَعْضٍ اِلَّا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ وَقَلِيْلٌ مَّا هُمْۗ وَظَنَّ دَاوٗدُ اَنَّمَا فَتَنّٰهُ فَاسْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهٗ وَخَرَّ رَاكِعًا وَّاَنَابَ ۩ ٢٤
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- laqad
- لَقَدْ
- "Certainly
- ẓalamaka
- ظَلَمَكَ
- he has wronged you
- bisuāli
- بِسُؤَالِ
- by demanding
- naʿjatika
- نَعْجَتِكَ
- your ewe
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- to
- niʿājihi
- نِعَاجِهِۦۖ
- his ewes
- wa-inna
- وَإِنَّ
- And indeed
- kathīran
- كَثِيرًا
- many
- mina
- مِّنَ
- of
- l-khulaṭāi
- ٱلْخُلَطَآءِ
- the partners
- layabghī
- لَيَبْغِى
- certainly oppress
- baʿḍuhum
- بَعْضُهُمْ
- one
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- [on]
- baʿḍin
- بَعْضٍ
- another
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- āmanū
- ءَامَنُوا۟
- believe
- waʿamilū
- وَعَمِلُوا۟
- and do
- l-ṣāliḥāti
- ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
- righteous deeds
- waqalīlun
- وَقَلِيلٌ
- and few
- mā
- مَّا
- (are) they"
- hum
- هُمْۗ
- (are) they"
- waẓanna
- وَظَنَّ
- And became certain
- dāwūdu
- دَاوُۥدُ
- Dawood
- annamā
- أَنَّمَا
- that
- fatannāhu
- فَتَنَّٰهُ
- We (had) tried him
- fa-is'taghfara
- فَٱسْتَغْفَرَ
- and he asked forgiveness
- rabbahu
- رَبَّهُۥ
- (of) his Lord
- wakharra
- وَخَرَّ
- and fell down
- rākiʿan
- رَاكِعًا
- bowing
- wa-anāba
- وَأَنَابَ۩
- and turned in repentance
[David] said, "He has certainly wronged you in demanding your ewe [in addition] to his ewes. And indeed, many associates oppress one another, except for those who believe and do righteous deeds – and few are they." And David became certain that We had tried him, and he asked forgiveness of his Lord and fell down bowing [in prostration] and turned in repentance [to Allah]. (QS. [38] Sad: 24)Tafsir
فَغَفَرْنَا لَهٗ ذٰلِكَۗ وَاِنَّ لَهٗ عِنْدَنَا لَزُلْفٰى وَحُسْنَ مَاٰبٍ ٢٥
- faghafarnā
- فَغَفَرْنَا
- So We forgave
- lahu
- لَهُۥ
- for him
- dhālika
- ذَٰلِكَۖ
- that
- wa-inna
- وَإِنَّ
- And indeed
- lahu
- لَهُۥ
- for him
- ʿindanā
- عِندَنَا
- with Us
- lazul'fā
- لَزُلْفَىٰ
- surely is a near access
- waḥus'na
- وَحُسْنَ
- and a good
- maābin
- مَـَٔابٍ
- place of return
So We forgave him that; and indeed, for him is nearness to Us and a good place of return. (QS. [38] Sad: 25)Tafsir
يٰدَاوٗدُ اِنَّا جَعَلْنٰكَ خَلِيْفَةً فِى الْاَرْضِ فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعِ الْهَوٰى فَيُضِلَّكَ عَنْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ ۗاِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ يَضِلُّوْنَ عَنْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيْدٌ ۢبِمَا نَسُوْا يَوْمَ الْحِسَابِ ࣖ ٢٦
- yādāwūdu
- يَٰدَاوُۥدُ
- "O Dawood!
- innā
- إِنَّا
- Indeed We
- jaʿalnāka
- جَعَلْنَٰكَ
- [We] have made you
- khalīfatan
- خَلِيفَةً
- a vicegerent
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- fa-uḥ'kum
- فَٱحْكُم
- so judge
- bayna
- بَيْنَ
- between
- l-nāsi
- ٱلنَّاسِ
- [the] men
- bil-ḥaqi
- بِٱلْحَقِّ
- in truth
- walā
- وَلَا
- and (do) not
- tattabiʿi
- تَتَّبِعِ
- follow
- l-hawā
- ٱلْهَوَىٰ
- the desire
- fayuḍillaka
- فَيُضِلَّكَ
- for it will lead you stray
- ʿan
- عَن
- from
- sabīli
- سَبِيلِ
- (the) way
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِۚ
- (of) Allah
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- yaḍillūna
- يَضِلُّونَ
- go astray
- ʿan
- عَن
- from
- sabīli
- سَبِيلِ
- (the) way
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- lahum
- لَهُمْ
- for them
- ʿadhābun
- عَذَابٌ
- (is) a punishment
- shadīdun
- شَدِيدٌۢ
- severe
- bimā
- بِمَا
- because
- nasū
- نَسُوا۟
- they forgot
- yawma
- يَوْمَ
- (the) Day
- l-ḥisābi
- ٱلْحِسَابِ
- (of) Account"
[We said], "O David, indeed We have made you a successor upon the earth, so judge between the people in truth and do not follow [your own] desire, as it will lead you astray from the way of Allah." Indeed, those who go astray from the way of Allah will have a severe punishment for having forgotten the Day of Account. (QS. [38] Sad: 26)Tafsir
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاۤءَ وَالْاَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا بَاطِلًا ۗذٰلِكَ ظَنُّ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا مِنَ النَّارِۗ ٢٧
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- khalaqnā
- خَلَقْنَا
- We created
- l-samāa
- ٱلسَّمَآءَ
- the heaven
- wal-arḍa
- وَٱلْأَرْضَ
- and the earth
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and whatever
- baynahumā
- بَيْنَهُمَا
- (is) between them
- bāṭilan
- بَٰطِلًاۚ
- without purpose
- dhālika
- ذَٰلِكَ
- That
- ẓannu
- ظَنُّ
- (is the) assumption
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- (of) those who
- kafarū
- كَفَرُوا۟ۚ
- disbelieve
- fawaylun
- فَوَيْلٌ
- So woe
- lilladhīna
- لِّلَّذِينَ
- to those
- kafarū
- كَفَرُوا۟
- who disbelieve
- mina
- مِنَ
- from
- l-nāri
- ٱلنَّارِ
- the Fire
And We did not create the heaven and the earth and that between them aimlessly. That is the assumption of those who disbelieve, so woe to those who disbelieve from the Fire. (QS. [38] Sad: 27)Tafsir
اَمْ نَجْعَلُ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ كَالْمُفْسِدِيْنَ فِى الْاَرْضِۖ اَمْ نَجْعَلُ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ كَالْفُجَّارِ ٢٨
- am
- أَمْ
- Or
- najʿalu
- نَجْعَلُ
- should We treat
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- āmanū
- ءَامَنُوا۟
- believe
- waʿamilū
- وَعَمِلُوا۟
- and do
- l-ṣāliḥāti
- ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
- righteous deeds
- kal-muf'sidīna
- كَٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
- like those who spread corruption
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth?
- am
- أَمْ
- Or
- najʿalu
- نَجْعَلُ
- should We treat
- l-mutaqīna
- ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
- the pious
- kal-fujāri
- كَٱلْفُجَّارِ
- like the wicked?
Or should We treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who fear Allah like the wicked? (QS. [38] Sad: 28)Tafsir
كِتٰبٌ اَنْزَلْنٰهُ اِلَيْكَ مُبٰرَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوْٓا اٰيٰتِهٖ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ اُولُوا الْاَلْبَابِ ٢٩
- kitābun
- كِتَٰبٌ
- (This is) a Book
- anzalnāhu
- أَنزَلْنَٰهُ
- We have revealed it
- ilayka
- إِلَيْكَ
- to you
- mubārakun
- مُبَٰرَكٌ
- blessed
- liyaddabbarū
- لِّيَدَّبَّرُوٓا۟
- that they may ponder
- āyātihi
- ءَايَٰتِهِۦ
- (over) its Verses
- waliyatadhakkara
- وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ
- and may be reminded
- ulū
- أُو۟لُوا۟
- those of understanding
- l-albābi
- ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ
- those of understanding
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded. (QS. [38] Sad: 29)Tafsir
وَوَهَبْنَا لِدَاوٗدَ سُلَيْمٰنَۗ نِعْمَ الْعَبْدُ ۗاِنَّهٗٓ اَوَّابٌۗ ٣٠
- wawahabnā
- وَوَهَبْنَا
- And We gave
- lidāwūda
- لِدَاوُۥدَ
- to Dawood
- sulaymāna
- سُلَيْمَٰنَۚ
- Sulaiman
- niʿ'ma
- نِعْمَ
- an excellent
- l-ʿabdu
- ٱلْعَبْدُۖ
- slave
- innahu
- إِنَّهُۥٓ
- Indeed he
- awwābun
- أَوَّابٌ
- was one who repeatedly turned
And to David We gave Solomon. An excellent servant, indeed he was one repeatedly turning back [to Allah]. (QS. [38] Sad: 30)Tafsir
