صۤ ۗوَالْقُرْاٰنِ ذِى الذِّكْرِۗ ١

Sad. By the Quran containing reminder... (QS. [38] Sad: 1)Tafsir
بَلِ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا فِيْ عِزَّةٍ وَّشِقَاقٍ ٢
- bali
- بَلِ
- Nay
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- kafarū
- كَفَرُوا۟
- disbelieve
- fī
- فِى
- (are) in
- ʿizzatin
- عِزَّةٍ
- self-glory
- washiqāqin
- وَشِقَاقٍ
- and opposition
But those who disbelieve are in pride and dissension. (QS. [38] Sad: 2)Tafsir
كَمْ اَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ مِّنْ قَرْنٍ فَنَادَوْا وَّلَاتَ حِيْنَ مَنَاصٍ ٣
- kam
- كَمْ
- How many
- ahlaknā
- أَهْلَكْنَا
- We destroyed
- min
- مِن
- before them
- qablihim
- قَبْلِهِم
- before them
- min
- مِّن
- of
- qarnin
- قَرْنٍ
- a generation
- fanādaw
- فَنَادَوا۟
- then they called out
- walāta
- وَّلَاتَ
- when there (was) no longer
- ḥīna
- حِينَ
- time
- manāṣin
- مَنَاصٍ
- (for) escape
How many a generation have We destroyed before them, and they [then] called out; but it was not a time for escape. (QS. [38] Sad: 3)Tafsir
وَعَجِبُوْٓا اَنْ جَاۤءَهُمْ مُّنْذِرٌ مِّنْهُمْ ۖوَقَالَ الْكٰفِرُوْنَ هٰذَا سٰحِرٌ كَذَّابٌۚ ٤
- waʿajibū
- وَعَجِبُوٓا۟
- And they wonder
- an
- أَن
- that
- jāahum
- جَآءَهُم
- has come to them
- mundhirun
- مُّنذِرٌ
- a warner
- min'hum
- مِّنْهُمْۖ
- from among themselves
- waqāla
- وَقَالَ
- And said
- l-kāfirūna
- ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ
- the disbelievers
- hādhā
- هَٰذَا
- "This
- sāḥirun
- سَٰحِرٌ
- (is) a magician
- kadhābun
- كَذَّابٌ
- a liar
And they wonder that there has come to them a warner [i.e., Prophet Muhammad (^)] from among themselves. And the disbelievers say, "This is a magician and a liar. (QS. [38] Sad: 4)Tafsir
اَجَعَلَ الْاٰلِهَةَ اِلٰهًا وَّاحِدًا ۖاِنَّ هٰذَا لَشَيْءٌ عُجَابٌ ٥
- ajaʿala
- أَجَعَلَ
- Has he made
- l-ālihata
- ٱلْءَالِهَةَ
- the gods
- ilāhan
- إِلَٰهًا
- (into) one god?
- wāḥidan
- وَٰحِدًاۖ
- (into) one god?
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- hādhā
- هَٰذَا
- this
- lashayon
- لَشَىْءٌ
- (is) certainly a thing
- ʿujābun
- عُجَابٌ
- curious"
Has he made the gods [only] one God? Indeed, this is a curious thing." (QS. [38] Sad: 5)Tafsir
وَانْطَلَقَ الْمَلَاُ مِنْهُمْ اَنِ امْشُوْا وَاصْبِرُوْا عَلٰٓى اٰلِهَتِكُمْ ۖاِنَّ هٰذَا لَشَيْءٌ يُّرَادُ ۖ ٦
- wa-inṭalaqa
- وَٱنطَلَقَ
- And went forth
- l-mala-u
- ٱلْمَلَأُ
- the chiefs
- min'hum
- مِنْهُمْ
- among them
- ani
- أَنِ
- that
- im'shū
- ٱمْشُوا۟
- "Continue
- wa-iṣ'birū
- وَٱصْبِرُوا۟
- and be patient
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰٓ
- over
- ālihatikum
- ءَالِهَتِكُمْۖ
- your gods
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- hādhā
- هَٰذَا
- this
- lashayon
- لَشَىْءٌ
- (is) certainly a thing
- yurādu
- يُرَادُ
- intended
And the eminent among them went forth, [saying], "Continue, and be patient over [the defense of] your gods. Indeed, this is a thing intended. (QS. [38] Sad: 6)Tafsir
مَا سَمِعْنَا بِهٰذَا فِى الْمِلَّةِ الْاٰخِرَةِ ۖاِنْ هٰذَآ اِلَّا اخْتِلَاقٌۚ ٧
- mā
- مَا
- Not
- samiʿ'nā
- سَمِعْنَا
- we heard
- bihādhā
- بِهَٰذَا
- of this
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-milati
- ٱلْمِلَّةِ
- the religion
- l-ākhirati
- ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
- the last
- in
- إِنْ
- Not
- hādhā
- هَٰذَآ
- (is) this
- illā
- إِلَّا
- but
- ikh'tilāqun
- ٱخْتِلَٰقٌ
- a fabrication
We have not heard of this in the latest religion. This is not but a fabrication. (QS. [38] Sad: 7)Tafsir
اَؤُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ الذِّكْرُ مِنْۢ بَيْنِنَا ۗبَلْ هُمْ فِيْ شَكٍّ مِّنْ ذِكْرِيْۚ بَلْ لَّمَّا يَذُوْقُوْا عَذَابِ ۗ ٨
- a-unzila
- أَءُنزِلَ
- Has been revealed
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِ
- to him
- l-dhik'ru
- ٱلذِّكْرُ
- the Message
- min
- مِنۢ
- from
- bayninā
- بَيْنِنَاۚ
- among us?"
- bal
- بَلْ
- Nay
- hum
- هُمْ
- They
- fī
- فِى
- (are) in
- shakkin
- شَكٍّ
- doubt
- min
- مِّن
- about
- dhik'rī
- ذِكْرِىۖ
- My Message
- bal
- بَل
- Nay
- lammā
- لَّمَّا
- not
- yadhūqū
- يَذُوقُوا۟
- they have tasted
- ʿadhābi
- عَذَابِ
- My punishment
Has the message been revealed to him out of [all of] us?" Rather, they are in doubt about My message. Rather, they have not yet tasted My punishment. (QS. [38] Sad: 8)Tafsir
اَمْ عِنْدَهُمْ خَزَاۤىِٕنُ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّكَ الْعَزِيْزِ الْوَهَّابِۚ ٩
- am
- أَمْ
- Or
- ʿindahum
- عِندَهُمْ
- have they
- khazāinu
- خَزَآئِنُ
- (the) treasures
- raḥmati
- رَحْمَةِ
- (of the) Mercy
- rabbika
- رَبِّكَ
- (of) your Lord
- l-ʿazīzi
- ٱلْعَزِيزِ
- the All-Mighty
- l-wahābi
- ٱلْوَهَّابِ
- the Bestower?
Or do they have the depositories of the mercy of your Lord, the Exalted in Might, the Bestower? (QS. [38] Sad: 9)Tafsir
اَمْ لَهُمْ مُّلْكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۗفَلْيَرْتَقُوْا فِى الْاَسْبَابِ ١٠
- am
- أَمْ
- Or
- lahum
- لَهُم
- for them
- mul'ku
- مُّلْكُ
- (is the) dominion
- l-samāwāti
- ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
- (of) the heavens
- wal-arḍi
- وَٱلْأَرْضِ
- and the earth
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and whatever
- baynahumā
- بَيْنَهُمَاۖ
- (is) between them?
- falyartaqū
- فَلْيَرْتَقُوا۟
- Then let them ascend
- fī
- فِى
- by
- l-asbābi
- ٱلْأَسْبَٰبِ
- the means
Or is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend through [any] ways of access. (QS. [38] Sad: 10)Tafsir
