Al-Qur'an Surah As-Saffat Verse 56

He (the speaker) will say (to his companion seen in Jahannam ), “By Allah, you were going almost to ruin me.

Tafsir jalalayn

He will say, to him, acknowledging that he [the latter] deserves his fate; `By God! You very nearly destroyed me, you [almost] ruined me through your misguidance (in, this has been softened from the hardened form [inna]).

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

He said;"By Allah! You have nearly ruined me."

The believer will say, addressing the disbeliever;`By Allah, you nearly caused me to be doomed, if I had obeyed you.'

وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّي لَكُنتُ مِنَ الْمُحْضَرِينَ
