Al-Qur'an Surah As-Saffat Verse 17
As-Saffat [37]: 17 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
اَوَاٰبَاۤؤُنَا الْاَوَّلُوْنَۗ (الصافات : ٣٧)
- awaābāunā
- أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا
- Or our fathers
- l-awalūna
- ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
- former?"
Transliteration:
Awa aabaa'unal awwaloon(QS. aṣ-Ṣāffāt:17)
English / Sahih Translation:
And our forefathers [as well]?" (QS. As-Saffat, ayah 17)

(read aw b'un indicating a supplement; or read a-wa-b'un as an interrogative, effecting the supplement with the ww; so that what is being supplemented is either the inna together with its subject [sc. a-inna la-mab`thna], or the subject [of the verb] la-mab`thna, in which case the interrogative hamza is a separator).

When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we (then) verily be resurrected? And also our fathers of old!
They thought that this was unlikely to happen, and they did not believe it.
قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَاخِرُونَ
