Al-Qur'an Surah As-Saffat Verse 160

As-Saffat [37]: 160 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

اِلَّا عِبَادَ اللّٰهِ الْمُخْلَصِيْنَ (الصافات : ٣٧)

illā
إِلَّا
Except
ʿibāda
عِبَادَ
(the) slaves
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
l-mukh'laṣīna
ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
the chosen

Transliteration:

Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen (QS. aṣ-Ṣāffāt:160)

English / Sahih Translation:

Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin]. (QS. As-Saffat, ayah 160)

Tafsir jalalayn

-- [all] except God's devoted servants, namely, believers (the exceptive clause here is discontinuous) in other words, [that is] because they declare that God transcends what such individuals attribute [to Him].

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

Except the servants of Allah, whom He chooses.

The pronoun in the verb translated as "they attribute" refers to all of mankind, then He excludes those whom He chooses, who are the ones who follow the truth revealed to every Prophet who was sent
