Al-Qur'an Surah As-Saffat Verse 139
As-Saffat [37]: 139 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَاِنَّ يُوْنُسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَۗ (الصافات : ٣٧)
- wa-inna
- وَإِنَّ
- And indeed
- yūnusa
- يُونُسَ
- Yunus
- lamina
- لَمِنَ
- (was) surely of
- l-mur'salīna
- ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
- the Messengers
Transliteration:
Wa inna Yoonusa laminal mursaleen(QS. aṣ-Ṣāffāt:139)
English / Sahih Translation:
And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers. (QS. As-Saffat, ayah 139)

The Story of Yunus
Allah tells,
وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
And verily, Yunus was one of the Messengers.
We have already discussed the story of Yunus, peace be upon him, in Surah Al-Anbiya' (21;87-88)
In the Two Sahihs it is reported that the Messenger of Allah said;
مَا يَنْبَغِي لِعَبْدٍ أَنْ يَقُولَ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ مَتَّى
It is not right for any person to say I am better than Yunus bin Matta.
إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ
