Tafsir jalalayn
`Peace, from Us, be to Elias!'. It is said that this [ilysn] is [the same] Elias mentioned above; but it is also said that this denotes him together with [all] those who were believers with him, and so they have been coupled [under the same term] with him being the predominant, as when one might say al-Muhallabn, `the Muhallabids', to mean al-Muhallab and his folk; a variant reading has l ysn, by which is meant his family as well as Elias himself.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
Salam (peace!) be upon Ilyasin!
Similarly, one might say for Ismail, Ismain. This is the language (dialect) of Bani Asad;
they say Mikal, Mika'il, and Mika'in.
They say Ibrahim and Ibraham; Isra'il, Isra'in; Tur Sina', Tur Sinin.
All of that is fine.
