Al-Qur'an Surah As-Saffat Verse 1

As-Saffat [37]: 1 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَالصّٰۤفّٰتِ صَفًّاۙ (الصافات : ٣٧)

wal-ṣāfāti
وَٱلصَّٰٓفَّٰتِ
By those lined
ṣaffan
صَفًّا
(in) rows

Transliteration:

Wassaaaffaati saffaa (QS. aṣ-Ṣāffāt:1)

English / Sahih Translation:

By those [angels] lined up in rows (QS. As-Saffat, ayah 1)

(I swear) by those who stand in rows,

Tafsir jalalayn

By those who are ranged in ranks -- [by] the angels who range their souls in worship or their wings in the air awaiting their orders;

The angels witness to the Oneness of Allah

It was reported that Abdullah bin Mas`ud, may Allah be pleased with him, said;

وَالصَّافَّاتِ صَفًّا




"By those ranged in ranks. --

they are the angels;

فَالزَّاجِرَاتِ زَجْرًا
