Surah As-Saffat - Page: 4

(Those who set the Ranks)

31

فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖاِنَّا لَذَاۤىِٕقُوْنَ ٣١

faḥaqqa
فَحَقَّ
So has been proved true
ʿalaynā
عَلَيْنَا
against us
qawlu
قَوْلُ
(the) Word
rabbinā
رَبِّنَآۖ
(of) our Lord;
innā
إِنَّا
indeed we
ladhāiqūna
لَذَآئِقُونَ
(will) certainly taste
So the word [i.e., decree] of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. (QS. [37] As-Saffat: 31)
Tafsir
32

فَاَغْوَيْنٰكُمْ اِنَّا كُنَّا غٰوِيْنَ ٣٢

fa-aghwaynākum
فَأَغْوَيْنَٰكُمْ
So we led you astray;
innā
إِنَّا
indeed we
kunnā
كُنَّا
were
ghāwīna
غَٰوِينَ
astray"
And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." (QS. [37] As-Saffat: 32)
Tafsir
33

فَاِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَىِٕذٍ فِى الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُوْنَ ٣٣

fa-innahum
فَإِنَّهُمْ
Then indeed they
yawma-idhin
يَوْمَئِذٍ
that Day
فِى
in
l-ʿadhābi
ٱلْعَذَابِ
the punishment
mush'tarikūna
مُشْتَرِكُونَ
(will be) sharers
So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. (QS. [37] As-Saffat: 33)
Tafsir
34

اِنَّا كَذٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِيْنَ ٣٤

innā
إِنَّا
Indeed We
kadhālika
كَذَٰلِكَ
thus
nafʿalu
نَفْعَلُ
We deal
bil-muj'rimīna
بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
with the criminals
Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. (QS. [37] As-Saffat: 34)
Tafsir
35

اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْٓا اِذَا قِيْلَ لَهُمْ لَآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُوْنَ ۙ ٣٥

innahum
إِنَّهُمْ
Indeed they
kānū
كَانُوٓا۟
were
idhā
إِذَا
when
qīla
قِيلَ
it was said
lahum
لَهُمْ
to them
لَآ
"(There is) no
ilāha
إِلَٰهَ
god
illā
إِلَّا
except
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah"
yastakbirūna
يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
were arrogant
Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant (QS. [37] As-Saffat: 35)
Tafsir
36

وَيَقُوْلُوْنَ اَىِٕنَّا لَتَارِكُوْٓا اٰلِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُوْنٍ ۗ ٣٦

wayaqūlūna
وَيَقُولُونَ
And they say
a-innā
أَئِنَّا
"Are we
latārikū
لَتَارِكُوٓا۟
to leave
ālihatinā
ءَالِهَتِنَا
our gods
lishāʿirin
لِشَاعِرٍ
for a poet
majnūnin
مَّجْنُونٍۭ
mad?"
And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" (QS. [37] As-Saffat: 36)
Tafsir
37

بَلْ جَاۤءَ بِالْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ ٣٧

bal
بَلْ
Nay
jāa
جَآءَ
he has brought
bil-ḥaqi
بِٱلْحَقِّ
the truth
waṣaddaqa
وَصَدَّقَ
and confirmed
l-mur'salīna
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
the Messengers
Rather, he [i.e., the Prophet (^)] has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. (QS. [37] As-Saffat: 37)
Tafsir
38

اِنَّكُمْ لَذَاۤىِٕقُوا الْعَذَابِ الْاَلِيْمِ ۚ ٣٨

innakum
إِنَّكُمْ
Indeed you
ladhāiqū
لَذَآئِقُوا۟
(will) surely taste
l-ʿadhābi
ٱلْعَذَابِ
the punishment
l-alīmi
ٱلْأَلِيمِ
painful
Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, (QS. [37] As-Saffat: 38)
Tafsir
39

وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ اِلَّا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَۙ ٣٩

wamā
وَمَا
And not
tuj'zawna
تُجْزَوْنَ
you will be recompensed
illā
إِلَّا
except
مَا
what
kuntum
كُنتُمْ
you used (to)
taʿmalūna
تَعْمَلُونَ
do
And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do – (QS. [37] As-Saffat: 39)
Tafsir
40

اِلَّا عِبَادَ اللّٰهِ الْمُخْلَصِيْنَ ٤٠

illā
إِلَّا
Except
ʿibāda
عِبَادَ
(the) slaves
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
l-mukh'laṣīna
ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
the chosen ones
But not the chosen servants of Allah. (QS. [37] As-Saffat: 40)
