Al-Qur'an Surah Ya-Sin Verse 7

Ya-Sin [36]: 7 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

لَقَدْ حَقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلٰٓى اَكْثَرِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ (يس : ٣٦)

Transliteration:

Laqad haqqal qawlu 'alaaa aksarihim fahum laa yu'minoon (QS. Yāʾ Sīn:7)

English / Sahih Translation:

Already the word [i.e., decree] has come into effect upon most of them, so they do not believe. (QS. Ya-Sin, ayah 7)

The word has indeed come true about most of them, so they will not believe.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

لَقَدْ حَقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلَى أَكْثَرِهِمْ

Indeed the Word has proved true against most of them,

Ibn Jarir said,

"The punishment has become inevitable for most of them, because Allah has decreed in the Mother of the Book (Al-Lawh Al-Mahfuz) that they will not believe.

فَهُمْ لَا يُوْمِنُونَ



so they will not believe.

i.e. in Allah, or in His Messengers
