Al-Qur'an Surah Ya-Sin Verse 56
Ya-Sin [36]: 56 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
هُمْ وَاَزْوَاجُهُمْ فِيْ ظِلٰلٍ عَلَى الْاَرَاۤىِٕكِ مُتَّكِـُٔوْنَ ۚ (يس : ٣٦)

Transliteration:
Hum wa azwaajuhum fee zilaalin 'alal araaa'iki muttaki'oon(QS. Yāʾ Sīn:56)
English / Sahih Translation:
They and their spouses – in shade, reclining on adorned couches. (QS. Ya-Sin, ayah 56)

Tafsir jalalayn
they (hum, the subject) and their spouses, beneath the shade (zill is the plural of zulla or zill, and is the predicate) in other words, no [blinding] sunlight affects them, reclining upon (muttaki'na is a second predicate, connected to `al, `upon') couches (ar'ik is the plural of arka, which is a bed inside a curtained canopy, or the bedding therein).
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
هُمْ وَأَزْوَاجُهُمْ
They and their wives,
Mujahid said,
"Their spouses,
فِي ظِلَلٍ
will be in pleasant shade,
means, in the shade of trees."
عَلَى الاَْرَايِكِ مُتَّكِوُونَ
reclining on thrones.
Ibn Abbas, Mujahid, Ikrimah, Muhammad bin Ka`b, Al-Hasan, Qatadah, As-Suddi and Khusayf said;
الاَْرَايِكِ
(throne) means beds beneath canopies
