Ya-Sin [36]: 11 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

اِنَّمَا تُنْذِرُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الذِّكْرَ وَخَشِيَ الرَّحْمٰنَ بِالْغَيْبِۚ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ وَّاَجْرٍ كَرِيْمٍ (يس : ٣٦)

كَرِيمٍ

Transliteration:

Innamaa tunziru manit taba 'az-Zikra wa khashiyar Rahmaana bilghaib, fabashshirhu bimaghfiratinw-wa ajrin kareem (QS. Yāʾ Sīn:11)

English / Sahih Translation:

You can only warn one who follows the message and fears the Most Merciful unseen. So give him good tidings of forgiveness and noble reward. (QS. Ya-Sin, ayah 11)

You can (usefully) warn only the one who follows the advice and fears the RaHmān (the All-Merciful Allah) without seeing (Him). So give him the good news of forgiveness and of a noble reward.

You can only warn those who follow the Reminder[[ The Reminder is another name for the Quran. ]] and are in awe of the Most Compassionate without seeing Him.[[ See footnote for {35:18}. ]] So give them good news of forgiveness and an honourable reward.

You can warn only those who would follow the Reminder (- the Qur´ân) and are full of reverential awe of the Most Gracious (God) in the heart of their hearts. Therefore proclaim to them the glad tidings of protection (from the evil consequences of sins) and an honorable provision (from Us).

English Literal

But/truly you warn/give notice (to) whom followed the reminder/remembrance and feared the merciful with the unseen/hidden , so announce good news to him with forgiveness, and (an) honored/generous reward .

Tafsir jalalayn

You can only warn, in other words, your warning will only benefit, him who follows the Remembrance, the Qur'n, and fears the Compassionate One in secret, who fears Him despite not having seen Him; so give him the good tidings of forgiveness and a noble reward, namely, Paradise.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

إِنَّمَا تُنذِرُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الذِّكْرَ

You can only warn him who follows the Reminder,

means, `only the believers will benefit from your warning, those who follow the Reminder,' which is the Qur'an.

وَخَشِيَ الرَّحْمَن بِالْغَيْبِ

and fears the Most Gracious unseen.

means, even when no one sees him except Allah, may He be blessed and exalted, he knows that Allah is watching him and sees what he does.

فَبَشِّرْهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ

Bear you to such one the glad tidings of forgiveness, (i.e., of his sins),

وَأَجْرٍ كَرِيمٍ



and a generous reward.

means, one that is vast and great and beautiful.

This is like the Ayah;

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُم بِالْغَيْبِ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَأَجْرٌ كَبِيرٌ

Verily, those who fear their Lord unseen, theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward. (67;12
