Al-Qur'an Surah Fatir Verse 6

Fatir [35]: 6 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

اِنَّ الشَّيْطٰنَ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ فَاتَّخِذُوْهُ عَدُوًّاۗ اِنَّمَا يَدْعُوْا حِزْبَهٗ لِيَكُوْنُوْا مِنْ اَصْحٰبِ السَّعِيْرِۗ (فاطر : ٣٥)

inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-shayṭāna
ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ
the Shaitaan
lakum
لَكُمْ
(is) to you
ʿaduwwun
عَدُوٌّ
an enemy
fa-ittakhidhūhu
فَٱتَّخِذُوهُ
so take him
ʿaduwwan
عَدُوًّاۚ
(as) an enemy
innamā
إِنَّمَا
Only
yadʿū
يَدْعُوا۟
he invites
ḥiz'bahu
حِزْبَهُۥ
his party
liyakūnū
لِيَكُونُوا۟
that they may be
min
مِنْ
among
aṣḥābi
أَصْحَٰبِ
(the) companions
l-saʿīri
ٱلسَّعِيرِ
(of) the Blaze

Transliteration:

Innash shaitaana lakum 'aduwwun fattakhizoohu 'aduwwaa; innamaa yad'oo hizbahoo liyakoonoo min ashaabis sa'eer (QS. Fāṭir:6)

English / Sahih Translation:

Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be among the companions of the Blaze. (QS. Fatir, ayah 6)

Surely ShaiTān (Satan) is an enemy for you. So, take him as an enemy. He only invites his group (to falsehood) so that they become inmates of the blazing fire.

English Literal

That truly the devil (is) for you an enemy, so take him (as) an enemy, truly/indeed he calls his group/party to be from the blazing`s/inflamed`s/(inferno`s) owners/company .

Satan is an enemy to you, so treat him as an enemy. He only invites his gang to be among the inmates of the Inferno.

Tafsir jalalayn

Truly Satan is an enemy to you. So treat him as an enemy, by being obedient to God and do not obey him; he only summons his faction, his followers in disbelief, so that they may be among the inhabitants of the Blaze, the fierce Fire.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ فَاتَّخِذُوهُ عَدُوًّا

Surely, Shaytan is an enemy to you, so take (treat) him as an enemy.

meaning, `he has declared his enmity towards you, so be even more hostile towards him, oppose him and do not believe the things with which he tries to tempt you.'

إِنَّمَا يَدْعُو حِزْبَهُ لِيَكُونُوا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ السَّعِيرِ



He only invites his followers that they may become the dwellers of the blazing Fire.

means, `he only wants to misguide you so that you will enter the blazing Fire with him.'

This is a manifest enemy, and we ask Allah, the All-Powerful and Almighty to make us enemies of Shaytan and to make us followers of the Book of Allah and of the way of His Messengers. For He is able to do whatever He wills and He will respond to all supplication.

This is like the Ayah;

وَإِذَا قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَـيِكَةِ اسْجُدُواْ لاِدَمَ فَسَجَدُواْ إِلاَّ إِبْلِيسَ كَانَ مِنَ الْجِنِّ فَفَسَقَ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِ أَفَتَتَّخِذُونَهُ وَذُرِّيَّتَهُ أَوْلِيَأءَ مِن دُونِى وَهُمْ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ بِيْسَ لِلظَّـلِمِينَ بَدَلاً

And (remember) when We said to the angels;"Prostrate yourselves unto Adam."

So they prostrated themselves except Iblis.

He was one of the Jinn; he disobeyed the command of his Lord. Will you then take him (Iblis) and his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me while they are enemies to you? What an evil is the exchange for the wrongdoers. (18;50
