Al-Qur'an Surah Fatir Verse 24

Surely We have sent you with truth as a bearer of good news and as a warner, and there was no community without a warner having passed among them.

There is no community that has not had a warner.[[ According to a Prophetic narration collected by Ibn Ḥibbân, the total number of prophets sent around the world, from Adam (ﷺ) to Muḥammad (ﷺ), is 124 000—of which only twenty-five are mentioned in the Quran.]]

That We sent you with the truth (as) an announcer of good news and a warner/giver of notice, and (there is) not from a nation/generation/century except past/expired in it a warner/giver of notice.

Tafsir jalalayn

Truly We have sent you with the truth, with [right] guidance, as a bearer of good tidings, to him who responds to it, and a warner, to him who does not respond to it. And there is not a community but there has passed, there has been, in it a warner, a prophet to warn it.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ بَشِيرًا وَنَذِيرًا

Verily, We have sent you with the truth, a bearer of glad tidings and a warner.

means, a bearer of glad tidings to the believers and a warner to the disbelievers.

وَإِن مِّنْ أُمَّةٍ إِلاَّ خلَإ فِيهَا نَذِيرٌ



And there never was a nation but a warner had passed among them.

means, there was never any nation among the sons of Adam but Allah sent warners to them, and left them with no excuse.

This is like the Ayat;

إِنَّمَأ أَنتَ مُنذِرٌ وَلِكُلِّ قَوْمٍ هَادٍ

You are only a warner, and to every people there is a guide. (13;7)

وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِى كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَّسُولاً أَنِ اعْبُدُواْ اللَّهَ وَاجْتَنِبُواْ الْطَّـغُوتَ فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ هَدَى اللَّهُ وَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ حَقَّتْ عَلَيْهِ الضَّلَـلَةُ

And verily, We have sent among every Ummah a Messenger (proclaiming);"Worship Allah, and avoid all false deities."

Then of them were some whom Allah guided and of them were some upon whom the straying was justified. (16;36)
