Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Ahzab Verse 67
Al-Ahzab [33]: 67 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَقَالُوْا رَبَّنَآ اِنَّآ اَطَعْنَا سَادَتَنَا وَكُبَرَاۤءَنَا فَاَضَلُّوْنَا السَّبِيْلَا۠ (الأحزاب : ٣٣)
- waqālū
- وَقَالُوا۟
- And they will say
- rabbanā
- رَبَّنَآ
- "Our Lord!
- innā
- إِنَّآ
- Indeed we
- aṭaʿnā
- أَطَعْنَا
- [we] obeyed
- sādatanā
- سَادَتَنَا
- our chiefs
- wakubarāanā
- وَكُبَرَآءَنَا
- and our great men
- fa-aḍallūnā
- فَأَضَلُّونَا
- and they misled us
- l-sabīlā
- ٱلسَّبِيلَا۠
- (from) the Way
Transliteration:
Wa qaaloo Rabbanaaa innaaa ata'naa saadatanaa wa kubaraaa'anaa fa adalloonas sabeelaa(QS. al-ʾAḥzāb:67)
English / Sahih Translation:
And they will say, "Our Lord, indeed we obeyed our masters and our dignitaries, and they led us astray from the [right] way. (QS. Al-Ahzab, ayah 67)

Tafsir jalalayn
And they, namely, those who had been the followers [of the leaders of error], shall say, `Our Lord, we obeyed our leaders (read [plural] sdatan, or sdtan, which is the plural of the plural) and elders, and they led us astray from the way, the path of guidance.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
And they will say;"Our Lord! Verily, we obeyed our chiefs and our great ones, and they misled us from the way."
Tawus said;
"`Our chiefs' means their nobles and `our great ones' means their scholars.
