Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Ahzab Verse 61

Al-Ahzab [33]: 61 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

مَلْعُوْنِيْنَۖ اَيْنَمَا ثُقِفُوْٓا اُخِذُوْا وَقُتِّلُوْا تَقْتِيْلًا (الأحزاب : ٣٣)

Accursed

أَيْنَمَا

they are found

أُخِذُوا۟

وَقُتِّلُوا۟
and massacred completely
taqtīlan
تَقْتِيلًا
and massacred completely

Transliteration:

Mal'ooneena ainamaa suqifoo ukhizoo wa quttiloo taqteelaa (QS. al-ʾAḥzāb:61)

English / Sahih Translation:

Accursed wherever they are found, [being] seized and massacred completely. (QS. Al-Ahzab, ayah 61)

(and that too in a state of being) accursed. Wherever they are found, they shall be seized, and shall be killed thoroughly

˹They deserve to be˺ condemned. ˹If they were to persist,˺ they would get themselves seized and killed relentlessly wherever they are found![[ This verse is intended to deter the hypocrites. The Prophet (ﷺ) never killed any hypocrite as long as they did not join the enemy to attack and kill Muslims. ]]

Accursed, banished from mercy, [shall they be], wherever they are found they shall be seized and slain violently, that is to say, that is the ruling concerning them -- meant as a command [for the Prophet].

مَلْعُونِينَ

but a little while. Accursed...

`this describes their state while they are in Al-Madinah for this short time before they are expelled and sent far away.'

أَيْنَمَا ثُقِفُوا أُخِذُوا

they shall be seized wherever found,

means, `they will be attacked, because they are so weak and so few,'

وَقُتِّلُوا تَقْتِيلً



and killed with a (terrible) slaughter.

Then Allah says
