(The Combined Forces)

31

۞ وَمَنْ يَّقْنُتْ مِنْكُنَّ لِلّٰهِ وَرَسُوْلِهٖ وَتَعْمَلْ صَالِحًا نُّؤْتِهَآ اَجْرَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِۙ وَاَعْتَدْنَا لَهَا رِزْقًا كَرِيْمًا ٣١

waman
وَمَن
And whoever
yaqnut
يَقْنُتْ
is obedient
minkunna
مِنكُنَّ
among you
lillahi
لِلَّهِ
to Allah
warasūlihi
وَرَسُولِهِۦ
and His Messenger
wataʿmal
وَتَعْمَلْ
and does
ṣāliḥan
صَٰلِحًا
righteousness
nu'tihā
نُّؤْتِهَآ
We will give her
ajrahā
أَجْرَهَا
her reward
marratayni
مَرَّتَيْنِ
twice;
wa-aʿtadnā
وَأَعْتَدْنَا
and We have prepared
lahā
لَهَا
for her
riz'qan
رِزْقًا
a provision
karīman
كَرِيمًا
noble
And whoever of you devoutly obeys Allah and His Messenger and does righteousness – We will give her her reward twice; and We have prepared for her a noble provision. (QS. [33] Al-Ahzab: 31)
Tafsir
32

يٰنِسَاۤءَ النَّبِيِّ لَسْتُنَّ كَاَحَدٍ مِّنَ النِّسَاۤءِ اِنِ اتَّقَيْتُنَّ فَلَا تَخْضَعْنَ بِالْقَوْلِ فَيَطْمَعَ الَّذِيْ فِيْ قَلْبِهٖ مَرَضٌ وَّقُلْنَ قَوْلًا مَّعْرُوْفًاۚ ٣٢

yānisāa
يَٰنِسَآءَ
O wives
l-nabiyi
ٱلنَّبِىِّ
(of) the Prophet!
lastunna
لَسْتُنَّ
You are not
ka-aḥadin
كَأَحَدٍ
like anyone
mina
مِّنَ
among
l-nisāi
ٱلنِّسَآءِۚ
the women
ini
إِنِ
If
ittaqaytunna
ٱتَّقَيْتُنَّ
you fear (Allah)
falā
فَلَا
then (do) not
takhḍaʿna
تَخْضَعْنَ
be soft
bil-qawli
بِٱلْقَوْلِ
in speech
fayaṭmaʿa
فَيَطْمَعَ
lest should be moved with desire
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
he who
فِى
in
qalbihi
قَلْبِهِۦ
his heart
maraḍun
مَرَضٌ
(is) a disease
waqul'na
وَقُلْنَ
but say
qawlan
قَوْلًا
a word
maʿrūfan
مَّعْرُوفًا
appropriate
O wives of the Prophet, you are not like anyone among women. If you fear Allah, then do not be soft in speech [to men], lest he in whose heart is disease should covet, but speak with appropriate speech. (QS. [33] Al-Ahzab: 32)
Tafsir
33

وَقَرْنَ فِيْ بُيُوْتِكُنَّ وَلَا تَبَرَّجْنَ تَبَرُّجَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ الْاُوْلٰى وَاَقِمْنَ الصَّلٰوةَ وَاٰتِيْنَ الزَّكٰوةَ وَاَطِعْنَ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ ۗاِنَّمَا يُرِيْدُ اللّٰهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ اَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيْرًاۚ ٣٣

waqarna
وَقَرْنَ
And stay
فِى
in
buyūtikunna
بُيُوتِكُنَّ
your houses
walā
وَلَا
and (do) not
tabarrajna
تَبَرَّجْنَ
display yourselves
tabarruja
تَبَرُّجَ
(as was the) display
l-jāhiliyati
ٱلْجَٰهِلِيَّةِ
(of the times of) ignorance
l-ūlā
ٱلْأُولَىٰۖ
the former
wa-aqim'na
وَأَقِمْنَ
And establish
l-ṣalata
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
the prayer
waātīna
وَءَاتِينَ
and give
l-zakata
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
zakah
wa-aṭiʿ'na
وَأَطِعْنَ
and obey
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
warasūlahu
وَرَسُولَهُۥٓۚ
and His Messenger
innamā
إِنَّمَا
Only
yurīdu
يُرِيدُ
Allah wishes
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah wishes
liyudh'hiba
لِيُذْهِبَ
to remove
ʿankumu
عَنكُمُ
from you
l-rij'sa
ٱلرِّجْسَ
the impurity
ahla
أَهْلَ
(O) People
l-bayti
ٱلْبَيْتِ
(of) the House!
wayuṭahhirakum
وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ
And to purify you
taṭhīran
تَطْهِيرًا
(with thorough) purification
And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance. And establish prayer and give Zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah intends only to remove from you the impurity [of sin], O people of the [Prophet's] household, and to purify you with [extensive] purification. (QS. [33] Al-Ahzab: 33)
Tafsir
34

وَاذْكُرْنَ مَا يُتْلٰى فِيْ بُيُوْتِكُنَّ مِنْ اٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ وَالْحِكْمَةِۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ لَطِيْفًا خَبِيْرًا ࣖ ٣٤

wa-udh'kur'na
وَٱذْكُرْنَ
And remember
مَا
what
yut'lā
يُتْلَىٰ
is recited
فِى
in
buyūtikunna
بُيُوتِكُنَّ
your houses
min
مِنْ
of
āyāti
ءَايَٰتِ
(the) Verses
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
wal-ḥik'mati
وَٱلْحِكْمَةِۚ
and the wisdom
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
kāna
كَانَ
is
laṭīfan
لَطِيفًا
All-Subtle
khabīran
خَبِيرًا
All-Aware
And remember what is recited in your houses of the verses of Allah and wisdom. Indeed, Allah is ever Subtle and Aware. (QS. [33] Al-Ahzab: 34)
Tafsir
35

اِنَّ الْمُسْلِمِيْنَ وَالْمُسْلِمٰتِ وَالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنٰتِ وَالْقٰنِتِيْنَ وَالْقٰنِتٰتِ وَالصّٰدِقِيْنَ وَالصّٰدِقٰتِ وَالصّٰبِرِيْنَ وَالصّٰبِرٰتِ وَالْخٰشِعِيْنَ وَالْخٰشِعٰتِ وَالْمُتَصَدِّقِيْنَ وَالْمُتَصَدِّقٰتِ وَالصَّاۤىِٕمِيْنَ وَالصّٰۤىِٕمٰتِ وَالْحٰفِظِيْنَ فُرُوْجَهُمْ وَالْحٰفِظٰتِ وَالذَّاكِرِيْنَ اللّٰهَ كَثِيْرًا وَّالذَّاكِرٰتِ اَعَدَّ اللّٰهُ لَهُمْ مَّغْفِرَةً وَّاَجْرًا عَظِيْمًا ٣٥

inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-mus'limīna
ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
the Muslim men
wal-mus'limāti
وَٱلْمُسْلِمَٰتِ
and the Muslim women
wal-mu'minīna
وَٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
and the believing men
wal-mu'mināti
وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ
and the believing women
wal-qānitīna
وَٱلْقَٰنِتِينَ
and the obedient men
wal-qānitāti
وَٱلْقَٰنِتَٰتِ
and the obedient women
wal-ṣādiqīna
وَٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
and the truthful men
wal-ṣādiqāti
وَٱلصَّٰدِقَٰتِ
and the truthful women
wal-ṣābirīna
وَٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
and the patient men
wal-ṣābirāti
وَٱلصَّٰبِرَٰتِ
and the patient women
wal-khāshiʿīna
وَٱلْخَٰشِعِينَ
and the humble men
wal-khāshiʿāti
وَٱلْخَٰشِعَٰتِ
and the humble women
wal-mutaṣadiqīna
وَٱلْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ
and the men who give charity
wal-mutaṣadiqāti
وَٱلْمُتَصَدِّقَٰتِ
and the women who give charity
wal-ṣāimīna
وَٱلصَّٰٓئِمِينَ
and the men who fast
wal-ṣāimāti
وَٱلصَّٰٓئِمَٰتِ
and the women who fast
wal-ḥāfiẓīna
وَٱلْحَٰفِظِينَ
and the men who guard
furūjahum
فُرُوجَهُمْ
their chastity
wal-ḥāfiẓāti
وَٱلْحَٰفِظَٰتِ
and the women who guard (it)
wal-dhākirīna
وَٱلذَّٰكِرِينَ
and the men who remember
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
kathīran
كَثِيرًا
much
wal-dhākirāti
وَٱلذَّٰكِرَٰتِ
and the women who remember
aʿadda
أَعَدَّ
Allah has prepared
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has prepared
lahum
لَهُم
for them
maghfiratan
مَّغْفِرَةً
forgiveness
wa-ajran
وَأَجْرًا
and a reward
ʿaẓīman
عَظِيمًا
great
Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so – for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward. (QS. [33] Al-Ahzab: 35)
Tafsir
36

وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ وَّلَا مُؤْمِنَةٍ اِذَا قَضَى اللّٰهُ وَرَسُوْلُهٗٓ اَمْرًا اَنْ يَّكُوْنَ لَهُمُ الْخِيَرَةُ مِنْ اَمْرِهِمْ ۗوَمَنْ يَّعْصِ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلٰلًا مُّبِيْنًاۗ ٣٦

wamā
وَمَا
And not
kāna
كَانَ
(it) is
limu'minin
لِمُؤْمِنٍ
for a believing man
walā
وَلَا
and not
mu'minatin
مُؤْمِنَةٍ
(for) a believing woman
idhā
إِذَا
when
qaḍā
قَضَى
Allah has decided
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has decided
warasūluhu
وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ
and His Messenger
amran
أَمْرًا
a matter
an
أَن
that
yakūna
يَكُونَ
(there) should be
lahumu
لَهُمُ
for them
l-khiyaratu
ٱلْخِيَرَةُ
(any) choice
min
مِنْ
about
amrihim
أَمْرِهِمْۗ
their affair
waman
وَمَن
And whoever
yaʿṣi
يَعْصِ
disobeys
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
warasūlahu
وَرَسُولَهُۥ
and His Messenger
faqad
فَقَدْ
certainly
ḍalla
ضَلَّ
he (has) strayed
ḍalālan
ضَلَٰلًا
(into) error
mubīnan
مُّبِينًا
clear
It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error. (QS. [33] Al-Ahzab: 36)
Tafsir
37

وَاِذْ تَقُوْلُ لِلَّذِيْٓ اَنْعَمَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِ اَمْسِكْ عَلَيْكَ زَوْجَكَ وَاتَّقِ اللّٰهَ وَتُخْفِيْ فِيْ نَفْسِكَ مَا اللّٰهُ مُبْدِيْهِ وَتَخْشَى النَّاسَۚ وَاللّٰهُ اَحَقُّ اَنْ تَخْشٰىهُ ۗ فَلَمَّا قَضٰى زَيْدٌ مِّنْهَا وَطَرًاۗ زَوَّجْنٰكَهَا لِكَيْ لَا يَكُوْنَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ حَرَجٌ فِيْٓ اَزْوَاجِ اَدْعِيَاۤىِٕهِمْ اِذَا قَضَوْا مِنْهُنَّ وَطَرًاۗ وَكَانَ اَمْرُ اللّٰهِ مَفْعُوْلًا ٣٧

wa-idh
وَإِذْ
And when
taqūlu
تَقُولُ
you said
lilladhī
لِلَّذِىٓ
to the one
anʿama
أَنْعَمَ
Allah bestowed favor
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah bestowed favor
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِ
on him
wa-anʿamta
وَأَنْعَمْتَ
and you bestowed favor
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِ
on him
amsik
أَمْسِكْ
"Keep
ʿalayka
عَلَيْكَ
to yourself
zawjaka
زَوْجَكَ
your wife
wa-ittaqi
وَٱتَّقِ
and fear
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah"
watukh'fī
وَتُخْفِى
But you concealed
فِى
within
nafsika
نَفْسِكَ
yourself
مَا
what
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
mub'dīhi
مُبْدِيهِ
(was to) disclose
watakhshā
وَتَخْشَى
And you fear
l-nāsa
ٱلنَّاسَ
the people
wal-lahu
وَٱللَّهُ
while Allah
aḥaqqu
أَحَقُّ
has more right
an
أَن
that
takhshāhu
تَخْشَىٰهُۖ
you (should) fear Him
falammā
فَلَمَّا
So when
qaḍā
قَضَىٰ
ended
zaydun
زَيْدٌ
Zaid
min'hā
مِّنْهَا
from her
waṭaran
وَطَرًا
necessary (formalities)
zawwajnākahā
زَوَّجْنَٰكَهَا
We married her to you
likay
لِكَىْ
so that
لَا
not
yakūna
يَكُونَ
there be
ʿalā
عَلَى
on
l-mu'minīna
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
the believers
ḥarajun
حَرَجٌ
any discomfort
فِىٓ
concerning
azwāji
أَزْوَٰجِ
the wives
adʿiyāihim
أَدْعِيَآئِهِمْ
(of) their adopted sons
idhā
إِذَا
when
qaḍaw
قَضَوْا۟
they have ended
min'hunna
مِنْهُنَّ
from them
waṭaran
وَطَرًاۚ
necessary (formalities)
wakāna
وَكَانَ
And is
amru
أَمْرُ
(the) Command
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
mafʿūlan
مَفْعُولًا
accomplished
And [remember, O Muhammad], when you said to the one on whom Allah bestowed favor and you bestowed favor, "Keep your wife and fear Allah," while you concealed within yourself that which Allah is to disclose. And you feared the people, while Allah has more right that you fear Him. So when Zayd had no longer any need for her, We married her to you in order that there not be upon the believers any discomfort [i.e., guilt] concerning the wives of their claimed [i.e., adopted] sons when they no longer have need of them. And ever is the command [i.e., decree] of Allah accomplished. (QS. [33] Al-Ahzab: 37)
Tafsir
38

مَا كَانَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ مِنْ حَرَجٍ فِيْمَا فَرَضَ اللّٰهُ لَهٗ ۗسُنَّةَ اللّٰهِ فِى الَّذِيْنَ خَلَوْا مِنْ قَبْلُ ۗوَكَانَ اَمْرُ اللّٰهِ قَدَرًا مَّقْدُوْرًاۙ ٣٨

مَّا
Not
kāna
كَانَ
(there can) be
ʿalā
عَلَى
upon
l-nabiyi
ٱلنَّبِىِّ
the Prophet
min
مِنْ
any
ḥarajin
حَرَجٍ
discomfort
fīmā
فِيمَا
in what
faraḍa
فَرَضَ
Allah has imposed
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has imposed
lahu
لَهُۥۖ
on him
sunnata
سُنَّةَ
(That is the) Way
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
فِى
concerning
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
khalaw
خَلَوْا۟
passed away
min
مِن
before
qablu
قَبْلُۚ
before
wakāna
وَكَانَ
And is
amru
أَمْرُ
(the) Command
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
qadaran
قَدَرًا
a decree
maqdūran
مَّقْدُورًا
destined
There is not to be upon the Prophet any discomfort concerning that which Allah has imposed upon him. [This is] the established way of Allah with those [prophets] who have passed on before. And ever is the command of Allah a destiny decreed. (QS. [33] Al-Ahzab: 38)
Tafsir
39

ۨالَّذِيْنَ يُبَلِّغُوْنَ رِسٰلٰتِ اللّٰهِ وَيَخْشَوْنَهٗ وَلَا يَخْشَوْنَ اَحَدًا اِلَّا اللّٰهَ ۗوَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ حَسِيْبًا ٣٩

alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
yuballighūna
يُبَلِّغُونَ
convey
risālāti
رِسَٰلَٰتِ
(the) Messages
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
wayakhshawnahu
وَيَخْشَوْنَهُۥ
and fear Him
walā
وَلَا
and (do) not
yakhshawna
يَخْشَوْنَ
fear
aḥadan
أَحَدًا
anyone
illā
إِلَّا
except
l-laha
ٱللَّهَۗ
Allah
wakafā
وَكَفَىٰ
And sufficient is Allah
bil-lahi
بِٱللَّهِ
And sufficient is Allah
ḥasīban
حَسِيبًا
(as) a Reckoner
[Allah praises] those who convey the messages of Allah and fear Him and do not fear anyone but Allah. And sufficient is Allah as Accountant. (QS. [33] Al-Ahzab: 39)
Tafsir
40

مَا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ اَبَآ اَحَدٍ مِّنْ رِّجَالِكُمْ وَلٰكِنْ رَّسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ وَخَاتَمَ النَّبِيّٖنَۗ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيْمًا ࣖ ٤٠

مَّا
Not
kāna
كَانَ
is
muḥammadun
مُحَمَّدٌ
Muhammad
abā
أَبَآ
(the) father
aḥadin
أَحَدٍ
(of) anyone
min
مِّن
of
rijālikum
رِّجَالِكُمْ
your men
walākin
وَلَٰكِن
but
rasūla
رَّسُولَ
(he is the) Messenger
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
wakhātama
وَخَاتَمَ
and Seal
l-nabiyīna
ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَۗ
(of) the Prophets
wakāna
وَكَانَ
And Allah is
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
And Allah is
bikulli
بِكُلِّ
of every
shayin
شَىْءٍ
thing
ʿalīman
عَلِيمًا
All-Knower
Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and seal [i.e., last] of the prophets. And ever is Allah, of all things, Knowing. (QS. [33] Al-Ahzab: 40)
