Al-Qur'an Surah As-Sajdah Verse 20

As-Sajdah [32]: 20 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَاَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ فَسَقُوْا فَمَأْوٰىهُمُ النَّارُ كُلَّمَآ اَرَادُوْٓا اَنْ يَّخْرُجُوْا مِنْهَآ اُعِيْدُوْا فِيْهَا وَقِيْلَ لَهُمْ ذُوْقُوْا عَذَابَ النَّارِ الَّذِيْ كُنْتُمْ بِهٖ تُكَذِّبُوْنَ (السجدة : ٣٢)

wa-ammā
وَأَمَّا
But as for
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
fasaqū
فَسَقُوا۟
are defiantly disobedient
famawāhumu
فَمَأْوَىٰهُمُ
then their refuge
l-nāru
ٱلنَّارُۖ
(is) the Fire
kullamā
كُلَّمَآ
Every time
arādū
أَرَادُوٓا۟
they wish
an
أَن
to
yakhrujū
يَخْرُجُوا۟
come out
min'hā
مِنْهَآ
from it
uʿīdū
أُعِيدُوا۟
they (will) be returned
fīhā
فِيهَا
in it
waqīla
وَقِيلَ
and it (will) be said
lahum
لَهُمْ
to them
dhūqū
ذُوقُوا۟
"Taste
ʿadhāba
عَذَابَ
(the) punishment
l-nāri
ٱلنَّارِ
(of) the Fire
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
which
kuntum
كُنتُم
you used (to)
bihi
بِهِۦ
[in it]
tukadhibūna
تُكَذِّبُونَ
deny"

Transliteration:

Wa ammal lazeena fasaqoo famaawaahumn Naaru kullamaaa araadooo any yakhrujoo minhaaa u'eedoo feehaa wa qeela lahum zooqoo 'zaaaban Naaril lazee kuntum bihee tukazziboon (QS. as-Sajdah:20)

English / Sahih Translation:

But as for those who defiantly disobeyed, their refuge is the Fire. Every time they wish to emerge from it, they will be returned to it while it is said to them, "Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny." (QS. As-Sajdah, ayah 20)

And the ones who disobeyed, their abode is the Fire. Whenever they wish to come out from it, they will be turned back into it, and it will be said to them, “Taste the punishment of fire that you used to deny.”

As for those who defy God, their home will be the Fire. Whenever they try to escape it, they will be driven back into it, and they will be told, ‘Taste the torment of the Fire, which you persistently denied.’

And as for those who transgress their abode is the Fire. So oft as they desire to get thereout, they shall be sent back thereto; and it will be said unto them: taste the torment of the Fire which ye were wont to belie.

As to those who are rebellious and wicked, their abode will be the Fire; every time they wish to get away therefrom, they will be forced thereinto, and it will be said to them; "Taste ye the Penalty of the Fire, the which ye were wont to reject as false."

As for the evil-doers, their refuge shall be the Fire. Every time they want to escape from it they shall be driven back and shall be told: “Taste the chastisement of the Fire which you used to reject as a lie.”

As for those who disobey, their abode is Hell. Whensoever they wish to escape from it they would be dragged back into it, and told: "Taste the torment of the Fire which you used to call a lie."

And those who are lawless – their destination is the fire; whenever they wish to come out of it, they will be returned into it, and it will be said to them, “Taste the punishment of the fire you used to deny!”

As for those who have transgressed, their refuge will be the Fire. Whenever they seek to leave it, they will be turned back into it and told: ‘Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny.’

But as for those who transgress (the bounds set by God in belief and action), their refuge and dwelling is the Fire. Every time they desire to come out of it, they will be returned to it and they will be told, "Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny."

But as for them who show disobedience their abode will be the Fire. Every time they try to get out of it they shall be hurled back into it and it shall be said to them, `Suffer the torment of the Fire which you used to cry lies to.´

English Literal

As to those who debauched , so their shelter/refuge (is) the fire , whenever they wanted that they get out/emerge from it, they were returned in it, and (it) was said to them: "Taste experience the fire`s torture which you were with it denying ."

Is he then, who is a believer, like him who is a transgressor? They are not equal.

However, the dwelling of the sinful ones will be hell fire. Each time they try to come out, they will be turned back with this remark, "Suffer the torment of the fire which you had called a lie".

As for those who defy God, their home shall be the Fire. Whenever they try to escape it, they shall be driven back into it, and they shall be told, "Taste the torment of the Fire, which you have persistently denied."

But as for those who transgressed, their shelter is the Fire. Every time they try to get out of it, they will be brought back into it, and it will be said to them, “Taste the suffering of the Fire which you used to deny.”

Tafsir jalalayn

But as for those who transgressed, by disbelieving and denying, their abode shall be the Fire. Whenever they seek to exit from it, they shall be brought back into it, and it shall be said to them, `Taste the chastisement of the Fire which you used to deny'.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ فَسَقُوا فَمَأْوَاهُمُ النَّارُ كُلَّمَا أَرَادُوا أَن يَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا أُعِيدُوا فِيهَا

And as for those who rebel, their abode will be the Fire,every time they wish to get away therefrom, they will be put back thereto,

means, those who disobeyed Allah, their dwelling place will be the Fire, and every time they want to escape from it, they will be thrown back in, as Allah says;

كُلَّمَأ أَرَادُواْ أَن يَخْرُجُواْ مِنْهَا مِنْ غَمٍّ أُعِيدُواْ فِيهَا

Every time they seek to get away therefrom, from anguish, they will be driven back therein. (22;22)

Al-Fudayl bin Iyad said;

"By Allah, their hands will be tied, their feet will be chained, the flames will lift them up and the angels will strike them.

وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ ذُوقُوا عَذَابَ النَّارِ الَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ



and it will be said to them;"Taste you the torment of the Fire which you used to deny.""

means, this will be said to them by way of rebuke and chastisement.

And Allah says
