Al-Qur'an Surah Luqman Verse 26

Luqman [31]: 26 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

لِلّٰهِ مَا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيْدُ (لقمان : ٣١)

lillahi
لِلَّهِ
To Allah (belongs)
مَا
whatever
فِى
(is) in
l-samāwāti
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
the heavens
wal-arḍi
وَٱلْأَرْضِۚ
and the earth
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
huwa
هُوَ
He
l-ghaniyu
ٱلْغَنِىُّ
(is) Free of need
l-ḥamīdu
ٱلْحَمِيدُ
the Praiseworthy

Transliteration:

Lilaahi ma fis samaa waati wal ard; innal laaha Huwal Ghaniyyul Hameed (QS. Luq̈mān:26)

English / Sahih Translation:

To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth. Indeed, Allah is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy. (QS. Luqman, ayah 26)

To Allah belongs what is in the heavens and the earth. Surely, it is Allah who is free of all needs, worthy of every praise.

To God belongs whatever is in the heavens and on the earth (over which He has full and exclusive authority, and therefore He alone is to be worshipped and none other). God is He Who is the All-Wealthy and Self-Sufficient (absolutely independent of the whole creation), All-Praiseworthy (to Whom all praise and thanks belong and are due).

All that lies in the heavens and the earth belongs to Allâh. Verily, Allâh is Self- Sufficient, and is Praiseworthy (in His own right).

To God what (is) in the skies/space and the earth/Planet Earth, that truly God (is) the rich, the praiseworthy/commendable.

Tafsir jalalayn

To God belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth, as possessions, creatures and servants, and so none other than Him deserves to be worshipped in them. Indeed God, He is the Independent, [without need] of His creatures, the Praised, in His actions.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالاَْرْضِ

To Allah belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth.

meaning, He created it and has dominion over it.

إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ



Verily, Allah, He is Al-Ghani, Worthy of all praise.

means, He has no need of anyone or anything besides Himself, and everything else is in need of Him.

He is Worthy of praise for all that He has created, so praise be to Him in the heavens and on earth for all that He has created and decreed, and He is worthy of praise in all affairs
