31

اَلَمْ تَرَ اَنَّ الْفُلْكَ تَجْرِيْ فِى الْبَحْرِ بِنِعْمَتِ اللّٰهِ لِيُرِيَكُمْ مِّنْ اٰيٰتِهٖۗ اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُوْرٍ ٣١

alam
أَلَمْ
Do not
tara
تَرَ
you see
anna
أَنَّ
that
l-ful'ka
ٱلْفُلْكَ
the ships
tajrī
تَجْرِى
sail
فِى
through
l-baḥri
ٱلْبَحْرِ
the sea
biniʿ'mati
بِنِعْمَتِ
by (the) Grace
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
liyuriyakum
لِيُرِيَكُم
that He may show you
min
مِّنْ
of
āyātihi
ءَايَٰتِهِۦٓۚ
His Signs?
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
that
laāyātin
لَءَايَٰتٍ
surely (are) Signs
likulli
لِّكُلِّ
for everyone
ṣabbārin
صَبَّارٍ
(who is) patient
shakūrin
شَكُورٍ
grateful
Do you not see that ships sail through the sea by the favor of Allah that He may show you of His signs? Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful. (QS. [31] Luqman: 31)
Tafsir
32

وَاِذَا غَشِيَهُمْ مَّوْجٌ كَالظُّلَلِ دَعَوُا اللّٰهَ مُخْلِصِيْنَ لَهُ الدِّيْنَ ەۚ فَلَمَّا نَجّٰىهُمْ اِلَى الْبَرِّ فَمِنْهُمْ مُّقْتَصِدٌۗ وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِاٰيٰتِنَآ اِلَّا كُلُّ خَتَّارٍ كَفُوْرٍ ٣٢

wa-idhā
وَإِذَا
And when
ghashiyahum
غَشِيَهُم
covers them
mawjun
مَّوْجٌ
a wave
kal-ẓulali
كَٱلظُّلَلِ
like canopies
daʿawū
دَعَوُا۟
they call
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
mukh'liṣīna
مُخْلِصِينَ
(being) sincere
lahu
لَهُ
to Him
l-dīna
ٱلدِّينَ
(in) religion
falammā
فَلَمَّا
But when
najjāhum
نَجَّىٰهُمْ
He delivers them
ilā
إِلَى
to
l-bari
ٱلْبَرِّ
the land
famin'hum
فَمِنْهُم
then among them
muq'taṣidun
مُّقْتَصِدٌۚ
(some are) moderate
wamā
وَمَا
And not
yajḥadu
يَجْحَدُ
deny
biāyātinā
بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ
Our Signs
illā
إِلَّا
except
kullu
كُلُّ
every
khattārin
خَتَّارٍ
traitor
kafūrin
كَفُورٍ
ungrateful
And when waves come over them like canopies, they supplicate Allah, sincere to Him in religion [i.e., faith]. But when He delivers them to the land, there are [some] of them who are moderate [in faith]. And none rejects Our signs except everyone treacherous and ungrateful. (QS. [31] Luqman: 32)
Tafsir
33

يٰٓاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوْا رَبَّكُمْ وَاخْشَوْا يَوْمًا لَّا يَجْزِيْ وَالِدٌ عَنْ وَّلَدِهٖۖ وَلَا مَوْلُوْدٌ هُوَ جَازٍ عَنْ وَّالِدِهٖ شَيْـًٔاۗ اِنَّ وَعْدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّ فَلَا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ الْحَيٰوةُ الدُّنْيَاۗ وَلَا يَغُرَّنَّكُمْ بِاللّٰهِ الْغَرُوْرُ ٣٣

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O
l-nāsu
ٱلنَّاسُ
mankind!
ittaqū
ٱتَّقُوا۟
Fear
rabbakum
رَبَّكُمْ
your Lord
wa-ikh'shaw
وَٱخْشَوْا۟
and fear
yawman
يَوْمًا
a Day
لَّا
not
yajzī
يَجْزِى
can avail
wālidun
وَالِدٌ
a father
ʿan
عَن
[for]
waladihi
وَلَدِهِۦ
his son
walā
وَلَا
and not
mawlūdun
مَوْلُودٌ
a son
huwa
هُوَ
he
jāzin
جَازٍ
(can) avail
ʿan
عَن
[for]
wālidihi
وَالِدِهِۦ
his father
shayan
شَيْـًٔاۚ
anything
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
waʿda
وَعْدَ
(the) Promise
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
ḥaqqun
حَقٌّۖ
(is) True
falā
فَلَا
so let not deceive you
taghurrannakumu
تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ
so let not deceive you
l-ḥayatu
ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ
the life
l-dun'yā
ٱلدُّنْيَا
(of) the world
walā
وَلَا
and let not deceive you
yaghurrannakum
يَغُرَّنَّكُم
and let not deceive you
bil-lahi
بِٱللَّهِ
about Allah
l-gharūru
ٱلْغَرُورُ
the deceiver
O mankind, fear your Lord and fear a Day when no father will avail his son, nor will a son avail his father at all. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth, so let not the worldly life delude you and be not deceived about Allah by the Deceiver [i.e., Satan]. (QS. [31] Luqman: 33)
Tafsir
34

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عِنْدَهٗ عِلْمُ السَّاعَةِۚ وَيُنَزِّلُ الْغَيْثَۚ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِى الْاَرْحَامِۗ وَمَا تَدْرِيْ نَفْسٌ مَّاذَا تَكْسِبُ غَدًاۗ وَمَا تَدْرِيْ نَفْسٌۢ بِاَيِّ اَرْضٍ تَمُوْتُۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلِيْمٌ خَبِيْرٌ ࣖ ٣٤

inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
ʿindahu
عِندَهُۥ
with Him
ʿil'mu
عِلْمُ
(is the) knowledge
l-sāʿati
ٱلسَّاعَةِ
(of) the Hour
wayunazzilu
وَيُنَزِّلُ
and He sends down
l-ghaytha
ٱلْغَيْثَ
the rain
wayaʿlamu
وَيَعْلَمُ
and knows
مَا
what
فِى
(is) in
l-arḥāmi
ٱلْأَرْحَامِۖ
the wombs
wamā
وَمَا
And not
tadrī
تَدْرِى
knows
nafsun
نَفْسٌ
any soul
mādhā
مَّاذَا
what
taksibu
تَكْسِبُ
it will earn
ghadan
غَدًاۖ
tomorrow
wamā
وَمَا
and not
tadrī
تَدْرِى
knows
nafsun
نَفْسٌۢ
any soul
bi-ayyi
بِأَىِّ
in what
arḍin
أَرْضٍ
land
tamūtu
تَمُوتُۚ
it will die
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
ʿalīmun
عَلِيمٌ
(is) All-Knower
khabīrun
خَبِيرٌۢ
All-Aware
Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour and sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. And no soul perceives what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul perceives in what land it will die. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Aware. (QS. [31] Luqman: 34)
