الۤمّۤ ۗ ١

Alif Lam Mim
Alif, Lam, Meem. (QS. [31] Luqman: 1)
Tafsir
2

تِلْكَ اٰيٰتُ الْكِتٰبِ الْحَكِيْمِۙ ٢

til'ka
تِلْكَ
These
āyātu
ءَايَٰتُ
(are) Verses
l-kitābi
ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
(of) the Book
l-ḥakīmi
ٱلْحَكِيمِ
the Wise
These are verses of the wise Book, (QS. [31] Luqman: 2)
Tafsir
3

هُدًى وَّرَحْمَةً لِّلْمُحْسِنِيْنَۙ ٣

hudan
هُدًى
A guidance
waraḥmatan
وَرَحْمَةً
and a mercy
lil'muḥ'sinīna
لِّلْمُحْسِنِينَ
for the good-doers
As guidance and mercy for the doers of good (QS. [31] Luqman: 3)
Tafsir
4

الَّذِيْنَ يُقِيْمُوْنَ الصَّلٰوةَ وَيُؤْتُوْنَ الزَّكٰوةَ وَهُمْ بِالْاٰخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوْقِنُوْنَۗ ٤

alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
yuqīmūna
يُقِيمُونَ
establish
l-ṣalata
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
the prayer
wayu'tūna
وَيُؤْتُونَ
and give
l-zakata
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
zakah
wahum
وَهُم
and they
bil-ākhirati
بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
in the Hereafter
hum
هُمْ
[they]
yūqinūna
يُوقِنُونَ
believe firmly
Who establish prayer and give Zakah, and they, of the Hereafter, are certain [in faith]. (QS. [31] Luqman: 4)
Tafsir
5

اُولٰۤىِٕكَ عَلٰى هُدًى مِّنْ رَّبِّهِمْ وَاُولٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُوْنَ ٥

ulāika
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
Those
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
(are) on
hudan
هُدًى
guidance
min
مِّن
from
rabbihim
رَّبِّهِمْۖ
their Lord
wa-ulāika
وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
and those
humu
هُمُ
[they]
l-muf'liḥūna
ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
(are) the successful
Those are on [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful. (QS. [31] Luqman: 5)
Tafsir
6

وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَّشْتَرِيْ لَهْوَ الْحَدِيْثِ لِيُضِلَّ عَنْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍۖ وَّيَتَّخِذَهَا هُزُوًاۗ اُولٰۤىِٕكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِيْنٌ ٦

وَمِنَ
And of
l-nāsi
ٱلنَّاسِ
the mankind
man
مَن
(is he) who
yashtarī
يَشْتَرِى
purchases
lahwa
لَهْوَ
idle tales
l-ḥadīthi
ٱلْحَدِيثِ
idle tales
liyuḍilla
لِيُضِلَّ
to mislead
ʿan
عَن
from
sabīli
سَبِيلِ
(the) path
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
bighayri
بِغَيْرِ
without
ʿil'min
عِلْمٍ
knowledge
wayattakhidhahā
وَيَتَّخِذَهَا
and takes it
huzuwan
هُزُوًاۚ
(in) ridicule
ulāika
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
Those
lahum
لَهُمْ
for them
ʿadhābun
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
muhīnun
مُّهِينٌ
humiliating
And of the people is he who buys the amusement of speech to mislead [others] from the way of Allah without knowledge and who takes it [i.e., His way] in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment. (QS. [31] Luqman: 6)
Tafsir
7

وَاِذَا تُتْلٰى عَلَيْهِ اٰيٰتُنَا وَلّٰى مُسْتَكْبِرًا كَاَنْ لَّمْ يَسْمَعْهَا كَاَنَّ فِيْٓ اُذُنَيْهِ وَقْرًاۚ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ اَلِيْمٍ ٧

wa-idhā
وَإِذَا
And when
tut'lā
تُتْلَىٰ
are recited
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِ
to him
āyātunā
ءَايَٰتُنَا
Our Verses
wallā
وَلَّىٰ
he turns away
mus'takbiran
مُسْتَكْبِرًا
arrogantly
ka-an
كَأَن
as if
lam
لَّمْ
not
yasmaʿhā
يَسْمَعْهَا
he (had) heard them
ka-anna
كَأَنَّ
as if
فِىٓ
in
udhunayhi
أُذُنَيْهِ
his ears
waqran
وَقْرًاۖ
(is) deafness
fabashir'hu
فَبَشِّرْهُ
So give him tidings
biʿadhābin
بِعَذَابٍ
of a punishment
alīmin
أَلِيمٍ
painful
And when Our verses are recited to him, he turns away arrogantly as if he had not heard them, as if there was in his ears deafness. So give him tidings of a painful punishment. (QS. [31] Luqman: 7)
Tafsir
8

اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنّٰتُ النَّعِيْمِۙ ٨

inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
āmanū
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe
waʿamilū
وَعَمِلُوا۟
and do
l-ṣāliḥāti
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
righteous deeds
lahum
لَهُمْ
for them
jannātu
جَنَّٰتُ
(are) Gardens
l-naʿīmi
ٱلنَّعِيمِ
(of) Delight
Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds – for them are the Gardens of Pleasure, (QS. [31] Luqman: 8)
Tafsir
9

خٰلِدِيْنَ فِيْهَاۗ وَعْدَ اللّٰهِ حَقًّاۗ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُ ٩

khālidīna
خَٰلِدِينَ
(To) abide forever
fīhā
فِيهَاۖ
in it
waʿda
وَعْدَ
(The) Promise of Allah
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(The) Promise of Allah
ḥaqqan
حَقًّاۚ
(is) true
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
And He
l-ʿazīzu
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
(is) the All-Mighty
l-ḥakīmu
ٱلْحَكِيمُ
the All-Wise
Wherein they abide eternally; [it is] the promise of Allah [which is] truth. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. (QS. [31] Luqman: 9)
Tafsir
10

خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ بِغَيْرِ عَمَدٍ تَرَوْنَهَا وَاَلْقٰى فِى الْاَرْضِ رَوَاسِيَ اَنْ تَمِيْدَ بِكُمْ وَبَثَّ فِيْهَا مِنْ كُلِّ دَاۤبَّةٍۗ وَاَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءً فَاَنْۢبَتْنَا فِيْهَا مِنْ كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيْمٍ ١٠

خَلَقَ
He created
l-samāwāti
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
the heavens
bighayri
بِغَيْرِ
without
ʿamadin
عَمَدٍ
pillars
tarawnahā
تَرَوْنَهَاۖ
that you see
wa-alqā
وَأَلْقَىٰ
and has cast
فِى
in
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
rawāsiya
رَوَٰسِىَ
firm mountains
an
أَن
lest
tamīda
تَمِيدَ
it (might) shake
bikum
بِكُمْ
with you
wabatha
وَبَثَّ
and He dispersed
fīhā
فِيهَا
in it
min
مِن
from
kulli
كُلِّ
every
dābbatin
دَآبَّةٍۚ
creature
wa-anzalnā
وَأَنزَلْنَا
And We sent down
mina
مِنَ
from
l-samāi
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the sky
māan
مَآءً
water
fa-anbatnā
فَأَنۢبَتْنَا
then We caused to grow
fīhā
فِيهَا
therein
min
مِن
of
kulli
كُلِّ
every
zawjin
زَوْجٍ
kind
karīmin
كَرِيمٍ
noble
He created the heavens without pillars that you see and has cast into the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with you, and dispersed therein from every creature. And We sent down rain from the sky and made grow therein [plants] of every noble kind. (QS. [31] Luqman: 10)
Tafsir
