Al-Qur'an Surah Ar-Rum Verse 50

So, look to the effects of Allah’s mercy, how He gives life to the earth after its death. Surely, That (Allah) is the One who will give life to the dead; and He has the power to do everything.

Tafsir jalalayn

So behold the effects (a variant reading has [singular] athar, `the effect') of God's mercy, that is, His grace in giving [them] rain, how He revives the earth after it has died, [after] it has dried out, so that it produces vegetation [again]. Surely He is the Reviver of the dead and He has power over all things.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

فَانظُرْ إِلَى اثَارِ رَحْمَتِ اللَّهِ

Look then at the effects of Allah's mercy,

meaning, the rain.

كَيْفَ يُحْيِي الاَْرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا

how He revives the earth after its death.

Thus Allah draws attention to the revival of people's bodies after they have died and disintegrated into nothing.

إِنَّ ذَلِكَ لَمُحْيِي الْمَوْتَى

Verily, that (Allah) shall indeed raise the dead.

means, the One Who does that is able to raise the dead.

وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ



and He is able to do all things.

وَلَيِنْ أَرْسَلْنَا رِيحًا فَرَأَوْهُ مُصْفَرًّا لَّظَلُّوا مِن بَعْدِهِ يَكْفُرُونَ
