Al-Qur'an Surah Ar-Rum Verse 38

Ar-Rum [30]: 38 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

فَاٰتِ ذَا الْقُرْبٰى حَقَّهٗ وَالْمِسْكِيْنَ وَابْنَ السَّبِيْلِۗ ذٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِيْنَ يُرِيْدُوْنَ وَجْهَ اللّٰهِ ۖوَاُولٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُوْنَ (الروم : ٣٠)

faāti
فَـَٔاتِ
So give
dhā
ذَا
the relative
l-qur'bā
ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ
the relative

حَقَّهُۥ

wal-mis'kīna
وَٱلْمِسْكِينَ
and the poor
wa-ib'na
وَٱبْنَ
and the wayfarer
l-sabīli
ٱلسَّبِيلِۚ
and the wayfarer
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
That
khayrun
خَيْرٌ
(is) best
lilladhīna
لِّلَّذِينَ
for those who
yurīdūna
يُرِيدُونَ
desire
wajha
وَجْهَ
(the) Countenance
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِۖ
(of) Allah
wa-ulāika
وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
And those
humu
هُمُ
they
l-muf'liḥūna
ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
(are) the successful ones

Transliteration:

Fa aati zal qurbaa haqqahoo walmiskeena wabnassabeel; zaalika khairul lil lazeena yureedoona Wajhal laahi wa ulaaa'ika humul muflihoon (QS. ar-Rūm:38)

English / Sahih Translation:

So give the relative his right, as well as the needy and the traveler. That is best for those who desire the face [i.e., approval] of Allah, and it is they who will be the successful. (QS. Ar-Rum, ayah 38)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

So give to the kinsman his right, and to the needy and the wayfarer. That is better for those who seek Allah’s pleasure, and it is they who will be successful.

So give your close relatives their due, as well as the poor and the ˹needy˺ traveller. That is best for those who seek the pleasure of Allah,[[ lit., seek the Face of Allah.]] and it is they who will be successful.

So give his due to the near of kin, and to the needy, and to the wayfarer. That is better for those who desire to please Allah. It is they who will prosper.

So, give their share to the relatives, the needy, and the wayfarers. This is best for those who seek the way that leads to God, and they will be successful.

Therefore give the relative his right, and to the needy, and to the traveller; this is better for those who seek the pleasure of Allah; and it is they who are the successful.

Give the relative his due, and the needy and the traveller [as well]. That is better for those who seek Allah’s pleasure, and it is they who are the felicitous.

And so give their due to relatives, as well as to the destitute and the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek God’s "Face" (His approval and good pleasure); and those are they who are the prosperous.

So present to the near of kin his due, and to the needy and the wayfarer. This is best for those who seek the pleasure of Allâh, it is they alone who will attain their goal.

English Literal

So give/bring the relatives/relations/near his right/share , and the poorest of poor/poor oppressed, and the traveler/stranded traveler, that (is) best to those who want God`s face/front/direction, and those are the successful/winners.

Therefore give the relative his right, and to the needy, and to the traveller; this is better for those who seek the pleasure of Allah; and it is they who are the successful.

Do they not see that Allah makes ample provision for whom He pleases, or restricts it? Herein, indeed, are signs for a people who believe.

And give to the kinsman his due, and to the needy, and to the destitute traveler. That is best for those who desire the Face of Allah; such will surely prosper.

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

So, give to the kindred his due, and to Al-Miskin and to the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek Allah's Face; and it is they who will be successful.

Wahiduddin Khan

So give the near relative, the needy, and the wayfarer their due -- that is best for those who seek God's pleasure: such men are the ones who will surely prosper.

Talal Itani

So give the relative his rights, and the destitute, and the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek God’s presence. Those are the prosperous.

Tafsir jalalayn

And give the relative what is his due, in the way of dutifulness and kindness, and the needy and the wayfarer, the traveller, [give] voluntary alms -- the Prophet's community must emulate him in this respect. That is better for those who desire God's Countenance, [who desire] His reward, in exchange for what they do; those, they are the successful, the winners.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

The Command to uphold the Ties of Kinship and the Prohibition of Riba Allah commands giving;

Allah says;

فَأتِ ذَا الْقُرْبَى حَقَّهُ

So, give to the kindred his due,

his due of respect and upholding the ties of kinship.

وَالْمِسْكِينَ

and to Al-Miskin,

the one who has nothing to spend on his needs, or he has something but it is not enough.

وَابْنَ السَّبِيلِ

and to the wayfarer.

the traveler who is in need of money and other things during his journey.

ذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَ اللَّهِ

That is best for those who seek Allah's Face;

meaning; to look upon Him on the Day of Resurrection, which is the ultimate aim.

وَأُوْلَيِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ



and it is they who will be successful.

means, in this world and the Hereafter.

Then Allah says
