Al-Qur'an Surah Ar-Rum Verse 3

Ar-Rum [30]: 3 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

فِيْٓ اَدْنَى الْاَرْضِ وَهُمْ مِّنْۢ بَعْدِ غَلَبِهِمْ سَيَغْلِبُوْنَۙ (الروم : ٣٠)

Transliteration:

Feee adnal ardi wa hummim ba'di ghalabihim sa ya ghliboon (QS. ar-Rūm:3)

English / Sahih Translation:

In the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will overcome (QS. Ar-Rum, ayah 3)

Tafsir jalalayn

in the nearer [part of the] land, that is, in the Byzantine land [that lies] nearest to Persia in Mesopotamia (al-Jazra). There the two armies met and the Persians were the ones who had begun the invasion. But they, that is the Byzantines, after their vanquishing (ghalabihim; the verbal noun [ghalab] has been annexed to the direct object [hum], in other words, ghalabatu fris iyyhum, `the Persians' vanquishing of them') shall be the victors, over the Persians,
