Al-Qur'an Surah Ar-Rum Verse 17

Ar-Rum [30]: 17 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

فَسُبْحٰنَ اللّٰهِ حِيْنَ تُمْسُوْنَ وَحِيْنَ تُصْبِحُوْنَ (الروم : ٣٠)

fasub'ḥāna
فَسُبْحَٰنَ
So glory be to
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
ḥīna
حِينَ
when
tum'sūna
تُمْسُونَ
you reach the evening
waḥīna
وَحِينَ
and when
tuṣ'biḥūna
تُصْبِحُونَ
you reach the morning

Transliteration:

Fa Subhaanal laahi heena tumsoona wa heena tusbihoon (QS. ar-Rūm:17)

English / Sahih Translation:

So exalted is Allah when you reach the evening and when you reach the morning. (QS. Ar-Rum, ayah 17)

Tafsir jalalayn

So glory be to God -- in other words, [so] glorify God, meaning; perform prayer -- when you enter the [time of the] night, in which there are two prayers, the sunset one (maghrib) and the later night one (`ish'), and when you rise in the morning, in which there is the morning prayer (subh).

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

The Command to pray Five Times Daily

Allah says;

فَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ حِينَ تُمْسُونَ وَحِينَ تُصْبِحُونَ



So glorify Allah, when you enter the evening, and when you enter the morning.

Here Allah glorifies Himself and commands His servants to glorify and praise Him at these times which come one after the other and are indicative of His might and power in the heavens. This is when the night comes with its darkness, then in the morning the day comes with its light.

This glorification is followed by befitting praise, as Allah says
