Surah Ar-Rum - Page: 6

(The Romans)

51

وَلَىِٕنْ اَرْسَلْنَا رِيْحًا فَرَاَوْهُ مُصْفَرًّا لَّظَلُّوْا مِنْۢ بَعْدِهٖ يَكْفُرُوْنَ ٥١

wala-in
وَلَئِنْ
But if
arsalnā
أَرْسَلْنَا
We sent
rīḥan
رِيحًا
a wind
fara-awhu
فَرَأَوْهُ
and they see it
muṣ'farran
مُصْفَرًّا
turn yellow
laẓallū
لَّظَلُّوا۟
certainly they continue
min
مِنۢ
after it
baʿdihi
بَعْدِهِۦ
after it
yakfurūna
يَكْفُرُونَ
(in) disbelief
But if We should send a [bad] wind and they saw [their crops] turned yellow, they would remain thereafter disbelievers. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 51)
Tafsir
52

فَاِنَّكَ لَا تُسْمِعُ الْمَوْتٰى وَلَا تُسْمِعُ الصُّمَّ الدُّعَاۤءَ اِذَا وَلَّوْا مُدْبِرِيْنَ ٥٢

fa-innaka
فَإِنَّكَ
So indeed, you
لَا
(can) not
tus'miʿu
تُسْمِعُ
make the dead hear
l-mawtā
ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ
make the dead hear
walā
وَلَا
and not
tus'miʿu
تُسْمِعُ
make the deaf hear
l-ṣuma
ٱلصُّمَّ
make the deaf hear
l-duʿāa
ٱلدُّعَآءَ
the call
idhā
إِذَا
when
wallaw
وَلَّوْا۟
they turn
mud'birīna
مُدْبِرِينَ
retreating
So indeed, you will not make the dead hear, nor will you make the deaf hear the call when they turn their backs, retreating. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 52)
Tafsir
53

وَمَآ اَنْتَ بِهٰدِ الْعُمْيِ عَنْ ضَلٰلَتِهِمْۗ اِنْ تُسْمِعُ اِلَّا مَنْ يُّؤْمِنُ بِاٰيٰتِنَا فَهُمْ مُّسْلِمُوْنَ ࣖ ٥٣

wamā
وَمَآ
And not
anta
أَنتَ
you
bihādi
بِهَٰدِ
can guide
l-ʿum'yi
ٱلْعُمْىِ
the blind
ʿan
عَن
from
ḍalālatihim
ضَلَٰلَتِهِمْۖ
their error
in
إِن
Not
tus'miʿu
تُسْمِعُ
you can make hear
illā
إِلَّا
except
man
مَن
(those) who
yu'minu
يُؤْمِنُ
believe
biāyātinā
بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا
in Our Verses
fahum
فَهُم
so they
mus'limūna
مُّسْلِمُونَ
surrender
And you cannot guide the blind away from their error. You will only make hear those who believe in Our verses so they are Muslims [in submission to Allah]. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 53)
Tafsir
54

۞ اَللّٰهُ الَّذِيْ خَلَقَكُمْ مِّنْ ضَعْفٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ ضَعْفٍ قُوَّةً ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ ضَعْفًا وَّشَيْبَةً ۗيَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاۤءُۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيْمُ الْقَدِيْرُ ٥٤

al-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
(is) the One Who
khalaqakum
خَلَقَكُم
created you
min
مِّن
from
ḍaʿfin
ضَعْفٍ
weakness
thumma
ثُمَّ
then
jaʿala
جَعَلَ
made
min
مِنۢ
after
baʿdi
بَعْدِ
after
ḍaʿfin
ضَعْفٍ
weakness
quwwatan
قُوَّةً
strength
thumma
ثُمَّ
then
jaʿala
جَعَلَ
made
min
مِنۢ
after
baʿdi
بَعْدِ
after
quwwatin
قُوَّةٍ
strength
ḍaʿfan
ضَعْفًا
weakness
washaybatan
وَشَيْبَةًۚ
and gray hair
yakhluqu
يَخْلُقُ
He creates
مَا
what
yashāu
يَشَآءُۖ
He wills
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
and He
l-ʿalīmu
ٱلْعَلِيمُ
(is) the All-Knower
l-qadīru
ٱلْقَدِيرُ
the All-Powerful
Allah is the one who created you from weakness, then made after weakness strength, then made after strength weakness and white hair. He creates what He wills, and He is the Knowing, the Competent. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 54)
Tafsir
55

وَيَوْمَ تَقُوْمُ السَّاعَةُ يُقْسِمُ الْمُجْرِمُوْنَ ەۙ مَا لَبِثُوْا غَيْرَ سَاعَةٍ ۗ كَذٰلِكَ كَانُوْا يُؤْفَكُوْنَ ٥٥

wayawma
وَيَوْمَ
And (the) Day
taqūmu
تَقُومُ
will (be) established
l-sāʿatu
ٱلسَّاعَةُ
the Hour
yuq'simu
يُقْسِمُ
will swear
l-muj'rimūna
ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ
the criminals
مَا
not
labithū
لَبِثُوا۟
they remained
ghayra
غَيْرَ
but
sāʿatin
سَاعَةٍۚ
an hour
kadhālika
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they were
yu'fakūna
يُؤْفَكُونَ
deluded
And the Day the Hour appears the criminals will swear they had remained but an hour. Thus they were deluded. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 55)
Tafsir
56

وَقَالَ الَّذِيْنَ اُوْتُوا الْعِلْمَ وَالْاِيْمَانَ لَقَدْ لَبِثْتُمْ فِيْ كِتٰبِ اللّٰهِ اِلٰى يَوْمِ الْبَعْثِۖ فَهٰذَا يَوْمُ الْبَعْثِ وَلٰكِنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُوْنَ ٥٦

waqāla
وَقَالَ
But will say
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ūtū
أُوتُوا۟
were given
l-ʿil'ma
ٱلْعِلْمَ
the knowledge
wal-īmāna
وَٱلْإِيمَٰنَ
and the faith
laqad
لَقَدْ
"Verily
labith'tum
لَبِثْتُمْ
you remained
فِى
by
kitābi
كِتَٰبِ
(the) Decree
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
ilā
إِلَىٰ
until
yawmi
يَوْمِ
(the) Day
l-baʿthi
ٱلْبَعْثِۖ
(of) Resurrection
fahādhā
فَهَٰذَا
And this
yawmu
يَوْمُ
(is the) Day
l-baʿthi
ٱلْبَعْثِ
(of) the Resurrection
walākinnakum
وَلَٰكِنَّكُمْ
but you
kuntum
كُنتُمْ
were
لَا
not
taʿlamūna
تَعْلَمُونَ
knowing
But those who were given knowledge and faith will say, "You remained the extent of Allah's decree until the Day of Resurrection, and this is the Day of Resurrection, but you did not used to know." (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 56)
Tafsir
57

فَيَوْمَىِٕذٍ لَّا يَنْفَعُ الَّذِيْنَ ظَلَمُوْا مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُوْنَ ٥٧

fayawma-idhin
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ
So that Day
لَّا
not
yanfaʿu
يَنفَعُ
will profit
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ẓalamū
ظَلَمُوا۟
wronged
maʿdhiratuhum
مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ
their excuses
walā
وَلَا
and not
hum
هُمْ
they
yus'taʿtabūna
يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ
will be allowed to make amends
So that Day, their excuse will not benefit those who wronged, nor will they be asked to appease [Allah]. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 57)
Tafsir
58

وَلَقَدْ ضَرَبْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِيْ هٰذَا الْقُرْاٰنِ مِنْ كُلِّ مَثَلٍۗ وَلَىِٕنْ جِئْتَهُمْ بِاٰيَةٍ لَّيَقُوْلَنَّ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْٓا اِنْ اَنْتُمْ اِلَّا مُبْطِلُوْنَ ٥٨

walaqad
وَلَقَدْ
And verily
ḍarabnā
ضَرَبْنَا
We (have) set forth
lilnnāsi
لِلنَّاسِ
for mankind
فِى
in
hādhā
هَٰذَا
this -
l-qur'āni
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ
[the] Quran
min
مِن
of
kulli
كُلِّ
every
mathalin
مَثَلٍۚ
example
wala-in
وَلَئِن
But if
ji'tahum
جِئْتَهُم
you bring them
biāyatin
بِـَٔايَةٍ
a sign
layaqūlanna
لَّيَقُولَنَّ
surely will say
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
kafarū
كَفَرُوٓا۟
disbelieve
in
إِنْ
"Not
antum
أَنتُمْ
you
illā
إِلَّا
(are) except
mub'ṭilūna
مُبْطِلُونَ
falsifiers"
And We have certainly presented to the people in this Quran from every [kind of] example. But, [O Muhammad], if you should bring them a sign, the disbelievers will surely say, "You [believers] are but falsifiers." (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 58)
Tafsir
59

كَذٰلِكَ يَطْبَعُ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى قُلُوْبِ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ ٥٩

kadhālika
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
yaṭbaʿu
يَطْبَعُ
Allah seals
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah seals
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
[on]
qulūbi
قُلُوبِ
(the) hearts
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
(of) those who
لَا
(do) not
yaʿlamūna
يَعْلَمُونَ
know
Thus does Allah seal the hearts of those who do not know. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 59)
Tafsir
60

فَاصْبِرْ اِنَّ وَعْدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّ وَّلَا يَسْتَخِفَّنَّكَ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يُوْقِنُوْنَ ࣖ ٦٠

fa-iṣ'bir
فَٱصْبِرْ
So be patient
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
waʿda
وَعْدَ
(the) Promise
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
ḥaqqun
حَقٌّۖ
(is) true
walā
وَلَا
And (let) not
yastakhiffannaka
يَسْتَخِفَّنَّكَ
take you in light estimation
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
لَا
(are) not
yūqinūna
يُوقِنُونَ
certain in faith
So be patient. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And let them not disquiet you who are not certain [in faith]. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 60)
