(The Romans)

21

وَمِنْ اٰيٰتِهٖٓ اَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُمْ مِّنْ اَنْفُسِكُمْ اَزْوَاجًا لِّتَسْكُنُوْٓا اِلَيْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَكُمْ مَّوَدَّةً وَّرَحْمَةً ۗاِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَّتَفَكَّرُوْنَ ٢١

wamin
وَمِنْ
And among
āyātihi
ءَايَٰتِهِۦٓ
His Signs
an
أَنْ
(is) that
khalaqa
خَلَقَ
He created
lakum
لَكُم
for you
min
مِّنْ
from
anfusikum
أَنفُسِكُمْ
yourselves
azwājan
أَزْوَٰجًا
mates
litaskunū
لِّتَسْكُنُوٓا۟
that you may find tranquility
ilayhā
إِلَيْهَا
in them;
wajaʿala
وَجَعَلَ
and He placed
baynakum
بَيْنَكُم
between you
mawaddatan
مَّوَدَّةً
love
waraḥmatan
وَرَحْمَةًۚ
and mercy
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
that
laāyātin
لَءَايَٰتٍ
surely (are) Signs
liqawmin
لِّقَوْمٍ
for a people
yatafakkarūna
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
who reflect
And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 21)
Tafsir
22

وَمِنْ اٰيٰتِهٖ خَلْقُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَاخْتِلَافُ اَلْسِنَتِكُمْ وَاَلْوَانِكُمْۗ اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّلْعٰلِمِيْنَ ٢٢

wamin
وَمِنْ
And among
āyātihi
ءَايَٰتِهِۦ
His Signs
khalqu
خَلْقُ
(is the) creation
l-samāwāti
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
(of) the heavens
wal-arḍi
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
and the earth
wa-ikh'tilāfu
وَٱخْتِلَٰفُ
and the diversity
alsinatikum
أَلْسِنَتِكُمْ
(of) your languages
wa-alwānikum
وَأَلْوَٰنِكُمْۚ
and your colors
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
that
laāyātin
لَءَايَٰتٍ
surely (are) Signs
lil'ʿālimīna
لِّلْعَٰلِمِينَ
for those of knowledge
And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your languages and your colors. Indeed in that are signs for those of knowledge. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 22)
Tafsir
23

وَمِنْ اٰيٰتِهٖ مَنَامُكُمْ بِالَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَابْتِغَاۤؤُكُمْ مِّنْ فَضْلِهٖۗ اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَّسْمَعُوْنَ ٢٣

wamin
وَمِنْ
And among
āyātihi
ءَايَٰتِهِۦ
His Signs
manāmukum
مَنَامُكُم
(is) your sleep
bi-al-layli
بِٱلَّيْلِ
by night
wal-nahāri
وَٱلنَّهَارِ
and the day
wa-ib'tighāukum
وَٱبْتِغَآؤُكُم
[and] your seeking
min
مِّن
of
faḍlihi
فَضْلِهِۦٓۚ
His Bounty
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
that
laāyātin
لَءَايَٰتٍ
surely (are) Signs
liqawmin
لِّقَوْمٍ
for a people
yasmaʿūna
يَسْمَعُونَ
who listen
And of His signs is your sleep by night and day and your seeking of His bounty. Indeed in that are signs for a people who listen. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 23)
Tafsir
24

وَمِنْ اٰيٰتِهٖ يُرِيْكُمُ الْبَرْقَ خَوْفًا وَّطَمَعًا وَّيُنَزِّلُ مِنَ السَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءً فَيُحْيٖ بِهِ الْاَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَاۗ اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَّعْقِلُوْنَ ٢٤

wamin
وَمِنْ
And among
āyātihi
ءَايَٰتِهِۦ
His Signs
yurīkumu
يُرِيكُمُ
He shows you
l-barqa
ٱلْبَرْقَ
the lightning
khawfan
خَوْفًا
(causing) fear
waṭamaʿan
وَطَمَعًا
and hope
wayunazzilu
وَيُنَزِّلُ
and He sends down
mina
مِنَ
from
l-samāi
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the sky
māan
مَآءً
water
fayuḥ'yī
فَيُحْىِۦ
and gives life
bihi
بِهِ
therewith
l-arḍa
ٱلْأَرْضَ
(to) the earth
baʿda
بَعْدَ
after
mawtihā
مَوْتِهَآۚ
its death
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
that
laāyātin
لَءَايَٰتٍ
surely (are) Signs
liqawmin
لِّقَوْمٍ
for a people
yaʿqilūna
يَعْقِلُونَ
who use intellect
And of His signs is [that] He shows you the lightning [causing] fear and aspiration, and He sends down rain from the sky by which He brings to life the earth after its lifelessness. Indeed in that are signs for a people who use reason. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 24)
Tafsir
25

وَمِنْ اٰيٰتِهٖٓ اَنْ تَقُوْمَ السَّمَاۤءُ وَالْاَرْضُ بِاَمْرِهٖۗ ثُمَّ اِذَا دَعَاكُمْ دَعْوَةًۖ مِّنَ الْاَرْضِ اِذَآ اَنْتُمْ تَخْرُجُوْنَ ٢٥

wamin
وَمِنْ
And among
āyātihi
ءَايَٰتِهِۦٓ
His Signs
an
أَن
(is) that
taqūma
تَقُومَ
stands
l-samāu
ٱلسَّمَآءُ
the heavens
wal-arḍu
وَٱلْأَرْضُ
and the earth
bi-amrihi
بِأَمْرِهِۦۚ
by His Command
thumma
ثُمَّ
Then
idhā
إِذَا
when
daʿākum
دَعَاكُمْ
He calls you
daʿwatan
دَعْوَةً
(with) a call
mina
مِّنَ
from
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
idhā
إِذَآ
behold!
antum
أَنتُمْ
You
takhrujūna
تَخْرُجُونَ
will come forth
And of His signs is that the heaven and earth stand [i.e., remain] by His command. Then when He calls you with a [single] call from the earth, immediately you will come forth. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 25)
Tafsir
26

وَلَهٗ مَنْ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِۗ كُلٌّ لَّهٗ قَانِتُوْنَ ٢٦

walahu
وَلَهُۥ
And to Him (belongs)
man
مَن
whoever
فِى
(is) in
l-samāwāti
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
the heavens
wal-arḍi
وَٱلْأَرْضِۖ
and the earth
kullun
كُلٌّ
All
lahu
لَّهُۥ
to Him
qānitūna
قَٰنِتُونَ
(are) obedient
And to Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and earth. All are to Him devoutly obedient. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 26)
Tafsir
27

وَهُوَ الَّذِيْ يَبْدَؤُا الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيْدُهٗ وَهُوَ اَهْوَنُ عَلَيْهِۗ وَلَهُ الْمَثَلُ الْاَعْلٰى فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِۚ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُ ࣖ ٢٧

wahuwa
وَهُوَ
And He
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
(is) the One Who
yabda-u
يَبْدَؤُا۟
originates
l-khalqa
ٱلْخَلْقَ
the creation
thumma
ثُمَّ
then
yuʿīduhu
يُعِيدُهُۥ
repeats it
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
and it
ahwanu
أَهْوَنُ
(is) easier
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِۚ
for Him
walahu
وَلَهُ
And for Him
l-mathalu
ٱلْمَثَلُ
(is) the description
l-aʿlā
ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
the highest
فِى
in
l-samāwāti
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
the heavens
wal-arḍi
وَٱلْأَرْضِۚ
and the earth
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
And He
l-ʿazīzu
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
(is) the All-Mighty
l-ḥakīmu
ٱلْحَكِيمُ
the All-Wise
And it is He who begins creation; then He repeats it, and that is [even] easier for Him. To Him belongs the highest description [i.e., attribute] in the heavens and earth. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 27)
Tafsir
28

ضَرَبَ لَكُمْ مَّثَلًا مِّنْ اَنْفُسِكُمْۗ هَلْ لَّكُمْ مِّنْ مَّا مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُكُمْ مِّنْ شُرَكَاۤءَ فِيْ مَا رَزَقْنٰكُمْ فَاَنْتُمْ فِيْهِ سَوَاۤءٌ تَخَافُوْنَهُمْ كَخِيْفَتِكُمْ اَنْفُسَكُمْۗ كَذٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْاٰيٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَّعْقِلُوْنَ ٢٨

ḍaraba
ضَرَبَ
He sets forth
lakum
لَكُم
to you
mathalan
مَّثَلًا
an example
min
مِّنْ
from
anfusikum
أَنفُسِكُمْۖ
yourselves
hal
هَل
Is
lakum
لَّكُم
for you
min
مِّن
among
مَّا
what
malakat
مَلَكَتْ
posses
aymānukum
أَيْمَٰنُكُم
your right hands
min
مِّن
any
shurakāa
شُرَكَآءَ
partners
فِى
in
مَا
what
razaqnākum
رَزَقْنَٰكُمْ
We have provided you
fa-antum
فَأَنتُمْ
so you
fīhi
فِيهِ
in it
sawāon
سَوَآءٌ
(are) equal
takhāfūnahum
تَخَافُونَهُمْ
you fear them
kakhīfatikum
كَخِيفَتِكُمْ
as you fear
anfusakum
أَنفُسَكُمْۚ
yourselves?
kadhālika
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
nufaṣṣilu
نُفَصِّلُ
We explain
l-āyāti
ٱلْءَايَٰتِ
the Verses
liqawmin
لِقَوْمٍ
for a people
yaʿqilūna
يَعْقِلُونَ
(who) use reason
He presents to you an example from yourselves. Do you have among those whom your right hands possess [i.e., slaves] any partners in what We have provided for you so that you are equal therein [and] would fear them as your fear of one another [within a partnership]? Thus do We detail the verses for a people who use reason. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 28)
Tafsir
29

بَلِ اتَّبَعَ الَّذِيْنَ ظَلَمُوْٓا اَهْوَاۤءَهُمْ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍۗ فَمَنْ يَّهْدِيْ مَنْ اَضَلَّ اللّٰهُ ۗوَمَا لَهُمْ مِّنْ نّٰصِرِيْنَ ٢٩

bali
بَلِ
Nay
ittabaʿa
ٱتَّبَعَ
follow
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ẓalamū
ظَلَمُوٓا۟
do wrong
ahwāahum
أَهْوَآءَهُم
their desires
bighayri
بِغَيْرِ
without
ʿil'min
عِلْمٍۖ
knowledge
faman
فَمَن
Then who
yahdī
يَهْدِى
(can) guide
man
مَنْ
(one) whom
aḍalla
أَضَلَّ
Allah has let go astray?
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُۖ
Allah has let go astray?
wamā
وَمَا
And not
lahum
لَهُم
for them
min
مِّن
any
nāṣirīna
نَّٰصِرِينَ
helpers
But those who wrong follow their [own] desires without knowledge. Then who can guide one whom Allah has sent astray? And for them there are no helpers. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 29)
Tafsir
30

فَاَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّيْنِ حَنِيْفًاۗ فِطْرَتَ اللّٰهِ الَّتِيْ فَطَرَ النَّاسَ عَلَيْهَاۗ لَا تَبْدِيْلَ لِخَلْقِ اللّٰهِ ۗذٰلِكَ الدِّيْنُ الْقَيِّمُۙ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَۙ ٣٠

fa-aqim
فَأَقِمْ
So set
wajhaka
وَجْهَكَ
your face
lilddīni
لِلدِّينِ
to the religion
ḥanīfan
حَنِيفًاۚ
upright
fiṭ'rata
فِطْرَتَ
Nature
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(made by) Allah
allatī
ٱلَّتِى
(upon) which
faṭara
فَطَرَ
He has created
l-nāsa
ٱلنَّاسَ
mankind
ʿalayhā
عَلَيْهَاۚ
[on it]
لَا
No
tabdīla
تَبْدِيلَ
change
likhalqi
لِخَلْقِ
(should there be) in the creation
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِۚ
(of) Allah
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
That
l-dīnu
ٱلدِّينُ
(is) the religion
l-qayimu
ٱلْقَيِّمُ
the correct
walākinna
وَلَٰكِنَّ
but
akthara
أَكْثَرَ
most
l-nāsi
ٱلنَّاسِ
men
لَا
(do) not
yaʿlamūna
يَعْلَمُونَ
know
So direct your face [i.e., self] toward the religion, inclining to truth. [Adhere to] the fitrah of Allah upon which He has created [all] people. No change should there be in the creation of Allah. That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know. (QS. [30] Ar-Rum: 30)
