Al-Qur'an Surah Ali 'Imran Verse 68
Ali 'Imran [3]: 68 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
اِنَّ اَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِاِبْرٰهِيْمَ لَلَّذِيْنَ اتَّبَعُوْهُ وَهٰذَا النَّبِيُّ وَالَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا ۗ وَاللّٰهُ وَلِيُّ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ (آل عمران : ٣)

- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- awlā
- أَوْلَى
- the best to claim relationship
- l-nāsi
- ٱلنَّاسِ
- (of) people
- bi-ib'rāhīma
- بِإِبْرَٰهِيمَ
- with Ibrahim
- lalladhīna
- لَلَّذِينَ
- (are) those who
- ittabaʿūhu
- ٱتَّبَعُوهُ
- follow him
- wahādhā
- وَهَٰذَا
- and this
- l-nabiyu
- ٱلنَّبِىُّ
- [the] Prophet
- wa-alladhīna
- وَٱلَّذِينَ
- and those who
- āmanū
- ءَامَنُوا۟ۗ
- believe[d]
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- waliyyu
- وَلِىُّ
- (is) a Guardian
- l-mu'minīna
- ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
- (of) the believers
Transliteration:
Innaa awlan naasi bi Ibraaheema lallazeenat taba 'oohu wa haazan nabiyyu wallazeena aamanoo; wallaahu waliyyul mu'mineen(QS. ʾĀl ʿImrān:68)
English / Sahih Translation:
Indeed, the most worthy of Abraham among the people are those who followed him [in submission to Allah] and this prophet [i.e., Muhammad (^)] and those who believe [in his message]. And Allah is the Ally of the believers. (QS. Ali 'Imran, ayah 68)

The closest of people to Ibrāhīm are those who followed him, and this prophet, and those who believe; and Allah is the Guardian of all believers.

Tafsir jalalayn
Surely the people with the best claim, most worthy of, Abraham are those who followed him, during his time, and this Prophet, Muhammad (s) on account of his according with him as regards most [of the rulings] of his Law, and those who believe, from among his community, they are the ones that ought to say, `We follow his religion', and not you; and God is the Protector of the believers, their Helper and Preserver.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
Verily, among mankind who have the best claim to Ibrahim are those who followed him, and this Prophet and those who have believed. And Allah is the Wali (Protector and Helper) of the believers.
This Ayah means,
"The people who have the most right to be followers of Ibrahim are those who followed his religion and this Prophet, Muhammad, and his Companions from the Muhajirin, Ansar and those who followed their lead."
Sa`id bin Mansur recorded that Ibn Mas`ud said that the Messenger of Allah said,
إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيَ وُلَاةً مِنَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَإِنَّ وَلِيِّي مِنْهُمْ أَبِي وَخَلِيلُ رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَل
Every Prophet had a Wali (supporter, best friend) from among the Prophets. My Wali among them is my father Ibrahim, the Khalil (intimate friend) of my Lord, the Exalted and Most Honored.
The Prophet then recited,
إِنَّ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِإِبْرَاهِيمَ لَلَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُ
(Verily, among mankind who have the best claim to Ibrahim are those who followed him...).
Allah's statement,
وَاللّهُ وَلِيُّ الْمُوْمِنِينَ
And Allah is the Wali (Protector and Helper) of the believers.
means, Allah is the Protector of all those who believe in His Messengers
