Ali 'Imran [3]: 193 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

رَبَّنَآ اِنَّنَا سَمِعْنَا مُنَادِيًا يُّنَادِيْ لِلْاِيْمَانِ اَنْ اٰمِنُوْا بِرَبِّكُمْ فَاٰمَنَّا ۖرَبَّنَا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوْبَنَا وَكَفِّرْ عَنَّا سَيِّاٰتِنَا وَتَوَفَّنَا مَعَ الْاَبْرَارِۚ (آل عمران : ٣)

rabbanā
رَّبَّنَآ
Our Lord

a caller

بِرَبِّكُمْ
in your Lord"

فَـَٔامَنَّاۚ
so we have believed
rabbanā
رَبَّنَا
Our Lord
fa-igh'fir
فَٱغْفِرْ
so forgive
lanā
لَنَا
for us
dhunūbanā
ذُنُوبَنَا
our sins
wakaffir
وَكَفِّرْ
and remove
ʿannā
عَنَّا
from us
sayyiātinā
سَيِّـَٔاتِنَا
our evil deeds
watawaffanā
وَتَوَفَّنَا
and cause us to die
maʿa
مَعَ
with
l-abrāri
ٱلْأَبْرَارِ
the righteous

Transliteration:

Rabbanaaa innanaa sami'naa munaadiyai yunaadee lil eemaani an aaminoo bi Rabbikum fa aamannaa; Rabbanaa faghfir lanaa zunoobanaa wa kaffir 'annaa saiyi aatina wa tawaffanaa ma'al abraar (QS. ʾĀl ʿImrān:193)

English / Sahih Translation:

Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller [i.e., Prophet Muhammad (^)] calling to faith, [saying], 'Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed. Our Lord, so forgive us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die among the righteous. (QS. Ali 'Imran, ayah 193)

Our Lord, We heard a herald calling towards Faith: ‘Believe in your Lord.’ So we believed.Our Lord, forgive us, then, our sins, and write off our evil deeds, and make us die only when we have joined the righteous.

Our Lord! We have heard the caller[[ The caller is Muḥammad (ﷺ).]] to ˹true˺ belief, ˹proclaiming,˺ ‘Believe in your Lord ˹alone˺,’ so we believed. Our Lord! Forgive our sins, absolve us of our misdeeds, and allow us ˹each˺ to die as one of the virtuous.

Our Lord, that we heard a caller, calls to the belief, `That believe with your Lord`, so we believed, Our Lord, so forgive for us our crimes, and cover/substitute from us our sins/crimes, and make us die with the righteous.

Tafsir jalalayn

Our Lord, we have heard a caller calling, summoning people, to belief (li'l-mn means il l-mn) and this is Muhammad (s), or [summoning them] to the Qur'n, saying, that, "Believe in your Lord!" And we believed, in Him. So, our Lord, forgive us our sins and absolve us of, conceal, our evil deeds, and so do not make them manifest by punishing us for them, and take us [in death], receive our spirits together, with the pious, the prophets and the righteous.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

رَّبَّنَا إِنَّنَا سَمِعْنَا مُنَادِيًا يُنَادِي لِلِيمَانِ

"Our Lord! Verily, we have heard the call of one calling to faith,"

a caller who calls to faith, referring to the Messenger of Allah.

أَنْ امِنُواْ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَأمَنَّا

`Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed,

accepted his call and followed him.

رَبَّنَا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا

"Our Lord! Forgive us our sins,"

on account of our faith and obeying Your Prophet.

فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا
("Forgive us our sins"), and cover them.

وَكَفِّرْ عَنَّا سَيِّيَاتِنَا

"and expiate from us our evil deeds,"

between us and You, in private,

وَتَوَفَّنَا مَعَ الابْرَارِ



"and make us die along with Al-Abrar,"

join us with the righteous people.
