Ali 'Imran [3]: 174 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

فَانْقَلَبُوْا بِنِعْمَةٍ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ وَفَضْلٍ لَّمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوْۤءٌۙ وَّاتَّبَعُوْا رِضْوَانَ اللّٰهِ ۗ وَاللّٰهُ ذُوْ فَضْلٍ عَظِيْمٍ (آل عمران : ٣)

fa-inqalabū
فَٱنقَلَبُوا۟
So they returned
biniʿ'matin
بِنِعْمَةٍ
with (the) Favor
mina
مِّنَ

l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
wafaḍlin
وَفَضْلٍ
and Bounty

And they followed

(is) Possessor
faḍlin
فَضْلٍ
(of) Bounty

عَظِيمٍ
great

Transliteration:

Fanqalaboo bini'matim minal laahi wa fadlil lam yamsashum sooo'unw wattaba'oo ridwaanal laah; wallaahu zoo fadlin 'azeem (QS. ʾĀl ʿImrān:174)

English / Sahih Translation:

So they returned with favor from Allah and bounty, no harm having touched them. And they pursued the pleasure of Allah, and Allah is the possessor of great bounty. (QS. Ali 'Imran, ayah 174)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

So, they returned with bounty from Allah, and grace, with no evil having even touched them, and submitted to the pleasure of Allah. Allah is the Lord of great bounty.

Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

So they returned with Allah’s favours and grace, suffering no harm. For they sought to please Allah. And surely Allah is ˹the˺ Lord of infinite bounty.

They then returned with grace and bounty of Allah, having suffered no harm. They pursued Allah’s pleasure, and Allah is the Possessor of great bounty.

So they returned with a mighty favour and a great bounty from Allah having suffered no harm. They followed the good pleasure of Allah, and Allah is the Lord of great bounty.

And returned with God's favour and grace without harm, for they attended the pleasure of God; and great is the benevolence of God.

So they returned with the favour and munificence from Allah, in that no harm reached them; they followed what pleased Allah; and Allah is Extremely Munificent.

So they returned with Allah’s blessing and grace, untouched by any harm. They pursued the pleasure of Allah, and Allah is dispenser of a great grace.

Ali Ünal

So they returned with favor and bounty from God, having suffered no harm. They strove after God’s good pleasure by acting in the way He approved of. God is of tremendous grace and bounty.

Amatul Rahman Omar

Hence they returned with a mighty blessing from Allâh and a great bounty. They suffered no harm whatsoever, and they followed the good pleasure of Allâh. Indeed, Allâh is the Possessor of great bounty.

English Literal

So they turned/returned with a blessing/goodness from God and a grace/favour, (and) bad/evil did not touch them, and they followed God`s acceptance/approval , and God (is owner) of great grace/favour.

Faridul Haque

So they returned with the favour and munificence from Allah, in that no harm reached them; they followed what pleased Allah; and Allah is Extremely Munificent.

It is only Satan who frightens his friends. Fear them not, but fear Me, if you be true believers.

So they returned with Grace and Bounty from Allah. No harm touched them; and they followed the good Pleasure of Allah. And Allah is the Owner of Great Bounty.

Those to whom men said: Surely people have gathered against you, so fear them; but this increased their faith, and they said: Allah is sufficient for us and He is an excellent Guardian.

So they returned with favor from Allah and (His) grace, no evil touched them and they followed the pleasure of Allah; and Allah is the Lord of mighty grace.

They returned with the favors and the bounties of God untouched by evil and followed by the pleasure of God. God's favor is great.

So, they returned with the Favor and Bounty of Allah so evil did not touch them. They followed the pleasure of Allah, and Allah is of Great Bounty.

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

So they returned with grace and bounty from Allah. No harm touched them; and they followed the pleasure of Allah. And Allah is the Owner of great bounty.

Wahiduddin Khan

They returned home with God's favour and blessings, without having been touched by evil; for they pursued God's pleasure. And God's bounty is infinite.

Talal Itani

So they came back with grace from God, and bounty, and no harm having touched them. They pursued what pleases God. God possesses immense grace.

Tafsir jalalayn

So they returned, from Badr, with grace and bounty from God, safely and with profit, and no evil touched them, from any slaying or wounds; and they followed the beatitude of God, by obeying Him and obeying His Messenger, when they [agreed to] set out [for the battle]; and God is of bounty abounding, for those that obey Him.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

فَانقَلَبُواْ بِنِعْمَةٍ مِّنَ اللّهِ وَفَضْلٍ لَّمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوءٌ

So they returned with grace and bounty from Allah. No harm touched them;

for when they relied on Allah, Allah took care of their worries, He confounded the plots of their enemies, and the Muslims returned to their land,
بِنِعْمَةٍ مِّنَ اللّهِ وَفَضْلٍ لَّمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوءٌ
(with grace and bounty from Allah. No harm touched them;) safe from the wicked plots of their enemies,

وَاتَّبَعُواْ رِضْوَانَ اللّهِ وَاللّهُ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَظِيمٍ



and they followed the pleasure of Allah. And Allah is the Owner of great bounty.

Al-Bayhaqi recorded that Ibn Abbas said about Allah's statement,
فَانقَلَبُواْ بِنِعْمَةٍ مِّنَ اللّهِ وَفَضْلٍ
(So they returned with grace and bounty from Allah),

"The `Grace' was that they were saved. The `Bounty' was that a caravan passed by, and those days were (Hajj) season days. Thus the Messenger of Allah bought and sold and made a profit, which he divided between his Companions."

Allah then said
