يٰٓاَهْلَ الْكِتٰبِ لِمَ تَلْبِسُوْنَ الْحَقَّ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَتَكْتُمُوْنَ الْحَقَّ وَاَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ ࣖ ٧١
- yāahla
- يَٰٓأَهْلَ
- O People
- l-kitābi
- ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
- (of) the Book!
- lima
- لِمَ
- Why
- talbisūna
- تَلْبِسُونَ
- do you mix
- l-ḥaqa
- ٱلْحَقَّ
- the truth
- bil-bāṭili
- بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ
- with the falsehood
- wataktumūna
- وَتَكْتُمُونَ
- and conceal
- l-ḥaqa
- ٱلْحَقَّ
- the truth
- wa-antum
- وَأَنتُمْ
- while you
- taʿlamūna
- تَعْلَمُونَ
- know?
O People of the Scripture, why do you mix [i.e., confuse] the truth with falsehood and conceal the truth while you know [it]? (QS. [3] Ali 'Imran: 71)Tafsir
وَقَالَتْ طَّاۤىِٕفَةٌ مِّنْ اَهْلِ الْكِتٰبِ اٰمِنُوْا بِالَّذِيْٓ اُنْزِلَ عَلَى الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَجْهَ النَّهَارِ وَاكْفُرُوْٓا اٰخِرَهٗ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُوْنَۚ ٧٢
- waqālat
- وَقَالَت
- And said
- ṭāifatun
- طَّآئِفَةٌ
- a group
- min
- مِّنْ
- of
- ahli
- أَهْلِ
- (the) People
- l-kitābi
- ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
- (of) the Book
- āminū
- ءَامِنُوا۟
- "Believe
- bi-alladhī
- بِٱلَّذِىٓ
- in what
- unzila
- أُنزِلَ
- was revealed
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- on
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- āmanū
- ءَامَنُوا۟
- believe[d]
- wajha
- وَجْهَ
- (at the) beginning
- l-nahāri
- ٱلنَّهَارِ
- (of) the day
- wa-uk'furū
- وَٱكْفُرُوٓا۟
- and reject
- ākhirahu
- ءَاخِرَهُۥ
- at its end
- laʿallahum
- لَعَلَّهُمْ
- perhaps they may
- yarjiʿūna
- يَرْجِعُونَ
- return
And a faction of the People of the Scripture say [to each other], "Believe in that which was revealed to the believers at the beginning of the day and reject it at its end that perhaps they will return [i.e., abandon their religion], (QS. [3] Ali 'Imran: 72)Tafsir
وَلَا تُؤْمِنُوْٓا اِلَّا لِمَنْ تَبِعَ دِيْنَكُمْ ۗ قُلْ اِنَّ الْهُدٰى هُدَى اللّٰهِ ۙ اَنْ يُّؤْتٰىٓ اَحَدٌ مِّثْلَ مَآ اُوْتِيْتُمْ اَوْ يُحَاۤجُّوْكُمْ عِنْدَ رَبِّكُمْ ۗ قُلْ اِنَّ الْفَضْلَ بِيَدِ اللّٰهِ ۚ يُؤْتِيْهِ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ ۗوَاللّٰهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيْمٌ ۚ ٧٣

- وَلَا
- And (do) not
- tu'minū
- تُؤْمِنُوٓا۟
- believe
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- liman
- لِمَن
- (the one) who
- tabiʿa
- تَبِعَ
- follows
- dīnakum
- دِينَكُمْ
- your religion"
- qul
- قُلْ
- Say
- inna
- إِنَّ
- "Indeed
- l-hudā
- ٱلْهُدَىٰ
- the (true) guidance
- hudā
- هُدَى
- (is the) Guidance
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- an
- أَن
- lest
- yu'tā
- يُؤْتَىٰٓ
- is given
- aḥadun
- أَحَدٌ
- (to) one
- mith'la
- مِّثْلَ
- (the) like
- mā
- مَآ
- (of) what
- ūtītum
- أُوتِيتُمْ
- was given to you
- aw
- أَوْ
- or
- yuḥājjūkum
- يُحَآجُّوكُمْ
- they may argue with you
- ʿinda
- عِندَ
- near
- rabbikum
- رَبِّكُمْۗ
- your Lord"
- qul
- قُلْ
- Say
- inna
- إِنَّ
- "Indeed
- l-faḍla
- ٱلْفَضْلَ
- the Bounty
- biyadi
- بِيَدِ
- (is) in the Hand
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- yu'tīhi
- يُؤْتِيهِ
- He gives it
- man
- مَن
- (to) whom
- yashāu
- يَشَآءُۗ
- He wills
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- and Allah
- wāsiʿun
- وَٰسِعٌ
- (is) All-Encompassing
- ʿalīmun
- عَلِيمٌ
- All-Knowing"
And do not trust except those who follow your religion." Say, "Indeed, the [true] guidance is the guidance of Allah. [Do you fear] lest someone be given [knowledge] like you were given or that they would [thereby] argue with you before your Lord?" Say, "Indeed, [all] bounty is in the hand of Allah – He grants it to whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Wise." (QS. [3] Ali 'Imran: 73)Tafsir
يَخْتَصُّ بِرَحْمَتِهٖ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ ۗوَاللّٰهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيْمِ ٧٤
- yakhtaṣṣu
- يَخْتَصُّ
- He chooses
- biraḥmatihi
- بِرَحْمَتِهِۦ
- for His Mercy
- man
- مَن
- whom
- yashāu
- يَشَآءُۗ
- He wills
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- dhū
- ذُو
- (is) the Possessor
- l-faḍli
- ٱلْفَضْلِ
- (of) Bounty
- l-ʿaẓīmi
- ٱلْعَظِيمِ
- [the] great
He selects for His mercy whom He wills. And Allah is the possessor of great bounty. (QS. [3] Ali 'Imran: 74)Tafsir
۞ وَمِنْ اَهْلِ الْكِتٰبِ مَنْ اِنْ تَأْمَنْهُ بِقِنْطَارٍ يُّؤَدِّهٖٓ اِلَيْكَۚ وَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ اِنْ تَأْمَنْهُ بِدِيْنَارٍ لَّا يُؤَدِّهٖٓ اِلَيْكَ اِلَّا مَا دُمْتَ عَلَيْهِ قَاۤىِٕمًا ۗ ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّهُمْ قَالُوْا لَيْسَ عَلَيْنَا فِى الْاُمِّيّٖنَ سَبِيْلٌۚ وَيَقُوْلُوْنَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ الْكَذِبَ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُوْنَ ٧٥
- wamin
- وَمِنْ
- And from
- ahli
- أَهْلِ
- (the) People
- l-kitābi
- ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
- (of) the Book
- man
- مَنْ
- (is he) who
- in
- إِن
- if
- tamanhu
- تَأْمَنْهُ
- you entrust him
- biqinṭārin
- بِقِنطَارٍ
- with a great amount of wealth
- yu-addihi
- يُؤَدِّهِۦٓ
- he will return it
- ilayka
- إِلَيْكَ
- to you
- wamin'hum
- وَمِنْهُم
- And from them
- man
- مَّنْ
- (is he) who
- in
- إِن
- if
- tamanhu
- تَأْمَنْهُ
- you entrust him
- bidīnārin
- بِدِينَارٍ
- with a single coin
- lā
- لَّا
- not
- yu-addihi
- يُؤَدِّهِۦٓ
- he will return it
- ilayka
- إِلَيْكَ
- to you
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- mā
- مَا
- that
- dum'ta
- دُمْتَ
- you keep constantly
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِ
- over him
- qāiman
- قَآئِمًاۗ
- standing
- dhālika
- ذَٰلِكَ
- That
- bi-annahum
- بِأَنَّهُمْ
- (is) because they
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- said
- laysa
- لَيْسَ
- "Not
- ʿalaynā
- عَلَيْنَا
- on us
- fī
- فِى
- concerning
- l-umiyīna
- ٱلْأُمِّيِّۦنَ
- the unlettered people
- sabīlun
- سَبِيلٌ
- any [way] (accountability)"
- wayaqūlūna
- وَيَقُولُونَ
- And they say
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- about
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- l-kadhiba
- ٱلْكَذِبَ
- the lie
- wahum
- وَهُمْ
- while they
- yaʿlamūna
- يَعْلَمُونَ
- know
And among the People of the Scripture is he who, if you entrust him with a great amount [of wealth], he will return it to you. And among them is he who, if you entrust him with a [single] coin, he will not return it to you unless you are constantly standing over him [demanding it]. That is because they say, "There is no blame upon us concerning the unlearned." And they speak untruth about Allah while they know [it]. (QS. [3] Ali 'Imran: 75)Tafsir
بَلٰى مَنْ اَوْفٰى بِعَهْدِهٖ وَاتَّقٰى فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ ٧٦
- balā
- بَلَىٰ
- Nay
- man
- مَنْ
- whoever
- awfā
- أَوْفَىٰ
- fulfills
- biʿahdihi
- بِعَهْدِهِۦ
- his covenant
- wa-ittaqā
- وَٱتَّقَىٰ
- and fears (Allah)
- fa-inna
- فَإِنَّ
- then indeed
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- yuḥibbu
- يُحِبُّ
- loves
- l-mutaqīna
- ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
- those who fear (Him)
But yes, whoever fulfills his commitment and fears Allah – then indeed, Allah loves those who fear Him. (QS. [3] Ali 'Imran: 76)Tafsir
اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ يَشْتَرُوْنَ بِعَهْدِ اللّٰهِ وَاَيْمَانِهِمْ ثَمَنًا قَلِيْلًا اُولٰۤىِٕكَ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُمْ فِى الْاٰخِرَةِ وَلَا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ اللّٰهُ وَلَا يَنْظُرُ اِلَيْهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ وَلَا يُزَكِّيْهِمْ ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ اَلِيْمٌ ٧٧
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- yashtarūna
- يَشْتَرُونَ
- exchange
- biʿahdi
- بِعَهْدِ
- (the) Covenant
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- wa-aymānihim
- وَأَيْمَٰنِهِمْ
- and their oaths
- thamanan
- ثَمَنًا
- (for) a price
- qalīlan
- قَلِيلًا
- little
- ulāika
- أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
- those
- lā
- لَا
- no
- khalāqa
- خَلَٰقَ
- share
- lahum
- لَهُمْ
- for them
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-ākhirati
- ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
- the Hereafter
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- yukallimuhumu
- يُكَلِّمُهُمُ
- will speak to them
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- yanẓuru
- يَنظُرُ
- look
- ilayhim
- إِلَيْهِمْ
- at them
- yawma
- يَوْمَ
- (on the) Day
- l-qiyāmati
- ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ
- (of) the Resurrection
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- yuzakkīhim
- يُزَكِّيهِمْ
- purify them
- walahum
- وَلَهُمْ
- and for them
- ʿadhābun
- عَذَابٌ
- (is) a punishment
- alīmun
- أَلِيمٌ
- painful
Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their [own] oaths for a small price will have no share in the Hereafter, and Allah will not speak to them or look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them; and they will have a painful punishment. (QS. [3] Ali 'Imran: 77)Tafsir
وَاِنَّ مِنْهُمْ لَفَرِيْقًا يَّلْوٗنَ اَلْسِنَتَهُمْ بِالْكِتٰبِ لِتَحْسَبُوْهُ مِنَ الْكِتٰبِ وَمَا هُوَ مِنَ الْكِتٰبِۚ وَيَقُوْلُوْنَ هُوَ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللّٰهِ وَمَا هُوَ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللّٰهِ ۚ وَيَقُوْلُوْنَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ الْكَذِبَ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُوْنَ ٧٨
- wa-inna
- وَإِنَّ
- And indeed
- min'hum
- مِنْهُمْ
- among them
- lafarīqan
- لَفَرِيقًا
- surely (is) a group
- yalwūna
- يَلْوُۥنَ
- they distort
- alsinatahum
- أَلْسِنَتَهُم
- their tongues
- bil-kitābi
- بِٱلْكِتَٰبِ
- in (reciting) the Book
- litaḥsabūhu
- لِتَحْسَبُوهُ
- so that you may think it
- mina
- مِنَ
- (is) from
- l-kitābi
- ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
- the Book
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and not
- huwa
- هُوَ
- it
- mina
- مِنَ
- (is) from
- l-kitābi
- ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
- the Book
- wayaqūlūna
- وَيَقُولُونَ
- And they say
- huwa
- هُوَ
- "It
- min
- مِنْ
- (is)"
- ʿindi
- عِندِ
- from"
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah"
- wamā
- وَمَا
- But not
- huwa
- هُوَ
- it
- min
- مِنْ
- (is)
- ʿindi
- عِندِ
- from
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- wayaqūlūna
- وَيَقُولُونَ
- And they say
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- about
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- l-kadhiba
- ٱلْكَذِبَ
- the lie
- wahum
- وَهُمْ
- while they
- yaʿlamūna
- يَعْلَمُونَ
- know
And indeed, there is among them a party who alter the Scripture with their tongues so you may think it is from the Scripture, but it is not from the Scripture. And they say, "This is from Allah," but it is not from Allah. And they speak untruth about Allah while they know. (QS. [3] Ali 'Imran: 78)Tafsir
مَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ اَنْ يُّؤْتِيَهُ اللّٰهُ الْكِتٰبَ وَالْحُكْمَ وَالنُّبُوَّةَ ثُمَّ يَقُوْلَ لِلنَّاسِ كُوْنُوْا عِبَادًا لِّيْ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ وَلٰكِنْ كُوْنُوْا رَبَّانِيّٖنَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تُعَلِّمُوْنَ الْكِتٰبَ وَبِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَدْرُسُوْنَ ۙ ٧٩
- mā
- مَا
- Not
- kāna
- كَانَ
- is
- libasharin
- لِبَشَرٍ
- for a human
- an
- أَن
- that
- yu'tiyahu
- يُؤْتِيَهُ
- gives him
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- l-kitāba
- ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
- the Book
- wal-ḥuk'ma
- وَٱلْحُكْمَ
- and the wisdom
- wal-nubuwata
- وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَ
- and the Prophethood
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- then
- yaqūla
- يَقُولَ
- he says
- lilnnāsi
- لِلنَّاسِ
- to the people
- kūnū
- كُونُوا۟
- "Be
- ʿibādan
- عِبَادًا
- worshippers
- lī
- لِّى
- of me
- min
- مِن
- from
- dūni
- دُونِ
- besides
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- walākin
- وَلَٰكِن
- but (would say)
- kūnū
- كُونُوا۟
- "Be
- rabbāniyyīna
- رَبَّٰنِيِّۦنَ
- worshippers of the Lord
- bimā
- بِمَا
- because
- kuntum
- كُنتُمْ
- you have been
- tuʿallimūna
- تُعَلِّمُونَ
- teaching
- l-kitāba
- ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
- the Book
- wabimā
- وَبِمَا
- and because
- kuntum
- كُنتُمْ
- you have been
- tadrusūna
- تَدْرُسُونَ
- studying (it)"
It is not for a human [prophet] that Allah should give him the Scripture and authority and prophethood and then he would say to the people, "Be servants to me rather than Allah," but [instead, he would say], "Be pious scholars of the Lord because of what you have taught of the Scripture and because of what you have studied." (QS. [3] Ali 'Imran: 79)Tafsir
وَلَا يَأْمُرَكُمْ اَنْ تَتَّخِذُوا الْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةَ وَالنَّبِيّٖنَ اَرْبَابًا ۗ اَيَأْمُرُكُمْ بِالْكُفْرِ بَعْدَ اِذْ اَنْتُمْ مُّسْلِمُوْنَ ࣖ ٨٠
- walā
- وَلَا
- And not
- yamurakum
- يَأْمُرَكُمْ
- he will order you
- an
- أَن
- that
- tattakhidhū
- تَتَّخِذُوا۟
- you take
- l-malāikata
- ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ
- the Angels
- wal-nabiyīna
- وَٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ
- and the Prophets
- arbāban
- أَرْبَابًاۗ
- (as) lords
- ayamurukum
- أَيَأْمُرُكُم
- Would he order you
- bil-kuf'ri
- بِٱلْكُفْرِ
- to [the] disbelief
- baʿda
- بَعْدَ
- after
- idh
- إِذْ
- [when]
- antum
- أَنتُم
- you (have become)
- mus'limūna
- مُّسْلِمُونَ
- Muslims?
Nor could he order you to take the angels and prophets as lords. Would he order you to disbelief after you had been Muslims? (QS. [3] Ali 'Imran: 80)Tafsir
