And [Abraham] said, "You have only taken, other than Allah, idols as [a bond of] affection among you in worldly life. Then on the Day of Resurrection you will deny one another and curse one another, and your refuge will be the Fire, and you will not have any helpers." (QS. Al-'Ankabut, ayah 25)

And he (Ibrāhīm) said, “You have adopted idols instead of Allah, only because of love (you have) with each other in the worldly life. Then on the Day of Judgment you will reject each other, and will curse each other. And your abode is the Fire, and you will have no helpers.”

Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

He said ˹to his people˺, “You have taken idols ˹for worship˺ instead of Allah, only to keep ˹the bond of˺ harmony among yourselves in this worldly life. But on the Day of Judgment you will disown and curse one another. Your home will be the Fire, and you will have no helper!”

Tafsir jalalayn

And he, Abraham, said; `You have adopted mere idols besides God, which you worship (m [of innam] relates to the verbal noun) for the sake of [mutual] affection between you (mawaddatu baynikum; this is the predicate of inna [of innam]; the accusative reading [mawaddata baynikum] would denote a direct object denoting reason, so that the m would denote `entirety') -- in other words, you are friends of one another in your worship of them, in the life of this world. Then on the Day of Resurrection you will disown one another, the leaders will dissociate from those who followed [them]; and you will curse one another, those who followed will curse their leaders; and your abode, your destination all together, will be the Fire, and you will have no helpers', to protect you against it.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

And (Ibrahim) said;"You have taken idols instead of Allah. The love between you is only in the life of this world,

Here Ibrahim was rebuking his people for their evil deed of worshipping idols, and telling them;`You have taken these as gods and you come together to worship them so that there is friendship and love among you in this world,'

but on the Day of Resurrection,

the situation will be the opposite, and this love and friendship will turn into hatred and enmity.

Then

you shall deny each other,

meaning, `you will denounce one another and deny whatever was between you,'

and curse each other,

means, the followers will curse their leaders and the leaders will curse their followers.

Every time a new nation enters (the Fire), it curses its sister nation (that went before). (7;37)

Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except those who have Taqwa. (43;67)

And Allah says here;

but on the Day of Resurrection, you shall deny each other, and curse each other, and your abode will be the Fire,

meaning, `your ultimate destiny after all accounts have been settled, will be the fire of Hell,

and you shall have no helper."

and you will have no one to help you or save you from the punishment of Allah.' This will be the state of the disbelievers.

As for the believers, it will be an entirely different matter
