وَلَمَّا جَاۤءَتْ رُسُلُنَآ اِبْرٰهِيْمَ بِالْبُشْرٰىۙ قَالُوْٓا اِنَّا مُهْلِكُوْٓا اَهْلِ هٰذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ ۚاِنَّ اَهْلَهَا كَانُوْا ظٰلِمِيْنَ ۚ ٣١
- walammā
- وَلَمَّا
- And when
- jāat
- جَآءَتْ
- came
- rusulunā
- رُسُلُنَآ
- Our messengers
- ib'rāhīma
- إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
- (to) Ibrahim
- bil-bush'rā
- بِٱلْبُشْرَىٰ
- with the glad tidings
- qālū
- قَالُوٓا۟
- they said
- innā
- إِنَّا
- "Indeed we
- muh'likū
- مُهْلِكُوٓا۟
- (are) going to destroy
- ahli
- أَهْلِ
- (the) people
- hādhihi
- هَٰذِهِ
- (of) this
- l-qaryati
- ٱلْقَرْيَةِۖ
- town
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- ahlahā
- أَهْلَهَا
- its people
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- are
- ẓālimīna
- ظَٰلِمِينَ
- wrongdoers"
And when Our messengers [i.e., angels] came to Abraham with the good tidings, they said, "Indeed, we will destroy the people of that [i.e., Lot's] city. Indeed, its people have been wrongdoers." (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 31)Tafsir
قَالَ اِنَّ فِيْهَا لُوْطًا ۗقَالُوْا نَحْنُ اَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ فِيْهَا ۖ لَنُنَجِّيَنَّهٗ وَاَهْلَهٗٓ اِلَّا امْرَاَتَهٗ كَانَتْ مِنَ الْغٰبِرِيْنَ ٣٢
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- inna
- إِنَّ
- "Indeed
- fīhā
- فِيهَا
- in it
- lūṭan
- لُوطًاۚ
- (is) Lut"
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- They said
- naḥnu
- نَحْنُ
- "We
- aʿlamu
- أَعْلَمُ
- know better
- biman
- بِمَن
- who
- fīhā
- فِيهَاۖ
- (is) in it
- lanunajjiyannahu
- لَنُنَجِّيَنَّهُۥ
- We will surely save him
- wa-ahlahu
- وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ
- and his family
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- im'ra-atahu
- ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ
- his wife
- kānat
- كَانَتْ
- She
- mina
- مِنَ
- (is) of
- l-ghābirīna
- ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ
- those who remain behind
[Abraham] said, "Indeed, within it is Lot." They said, "We are more knowing of who is within it. We will surely save him and his family, except his wife. She is to be of those who remain behind." (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 32)Tafsir
وَلَمَّآ اَنْ جَاۤءَتْ رُسُلُنَا لُوْطًا سِيْۤءَ بِهِمْ وَضَاقَ بِهِمْ ذَرْعًا وَّقَالُوْا لَا تَخَفْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ ۗاِنَّا مُنَجُّوْكَ وَاَهْلَكَ اِلَّا امْرَاَتَكَ كَانَتْ مِنَ الْغٰبِرِيْنَ ٣٣
- walammā
- وَلَمَّآ
- And when
- an
- أَن
- [that]
- jāat
- جَآءَتْ
- came
- rusulunā
- رُسُلُنَا
- Our messengers
- lūṭan
- لُوطًا
- (to) Lut
- sīa
- سِىٓءَ
- he was distressed
- bihim
- بِهِمْ
- for them
- waḍāqa
- وَضَاقَ
- and felt straitened
- bihim
- بِهِمْ
- for them
- dharʿan
- ذَرْعًا
- (and) uneasy
- waqālū
- وَقَالُوا۟
- And they said
- lā
- لَا
- "(Do) not
- takhaf
- تَخَفْ
- fear
- walā
- وَلَا
- and (do) not
- taḥzan
- تَحْزَنْۖ
- grieve
- innā
- إِنَّا
- Indeed we
- munajjūka
- مُنَجُّوكَ
- (will) save you
- wa-ahlaka
- وَأَهْلَكَ
- and your family
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- im'ra-ataka
- ٱمْرَأَتَكَ
- your wife
- kānat
- كَانَتْ
- She
- mina
- مِنَ
- (is) of
- l-ghābirīna
- ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ
- those who remain behind
And when Our messengers [i.e., angels] came to Lot, he was distressed for them and felt for them great discomfort. They said, "Fear not, nor grieve. Indeed, we will save you and your family, except your wife; she is to be of those who remain behind. (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 33)Tafsir
اِنَّا مُنْزِلُوْنَ عَلٰٓى اَهْلِ هٰذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ رِجْزًا مِّنَ السَّمَاۤءِ بِمَا كَانُوْا يَفْسُقُوْنَ ٣٤
- innā
- إِنَّا
- Indeed we
- munzilūna
- مُنزِلُونَ
- (will) bring down
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰٓ
- on
- ahli
- أَهْلِ
- (the) people
- hādhihi
- هَٰذِهِ
- (of) this
- l-qaryati
- ٱلْقَرْيَةِ
- town
- rij'zan
- رِجْزًا
- a punishment
- mina
- مِّنَ
- from
- l-samāi
- ٱلسَّمَآءِ
- (the) sky
- bimā
- بِمَا
- because
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- they have been
- yafsuqūna
- يَفْسُقُونَ
- defiantly disobedient"
Indeed, we will bring down on the people of this city punishment from the sky because they have been defiantly disobedient." (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 34)Tafsir
وَلَقَدْ تَّرَكْنَا مِنْهَآ اٰيَةً ۢ بَيِّنَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَّعْقِلُوْنَ ٣٥
- walaqad
- وَلَقَد
- And verily
- taraknā
- تَّرَكْنَا
- We have left
- min'hā
- مِنْهَآ
- about it
- āyatan
- ءَايَةًۢ
- a sign
- bayyinatan
- بَيِّنَةً
- (as) evidence
- liqawmin
- لِّقَوْمٍ
- for a people
- yaʿqilūna
- يَعْقِلُونَ
- who use reason
And We have certainly left of it a sign as clear evidence for a people who use reason. (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 35)Tafsir
وَاِلٰى مَدْيَنَ اَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْبًاۙ فَقَالَ يٰقَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللّٰهَ وَارْجُوا الْيَوْمَ الْاٰخِرَ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِى الْاَرْضِ مُفْسِدِيْنَ ۖ ٣٦
- wa-ilā
- وَإِلَىٰ
- And to
- madyana
- مَدْيَنَ
- Madyan
- akhāhum
- أَخَاهُمْ
- their brother
- shuʿayban
- شُعَيْبًا
- Shuaib
- faqāla
- فَقَالَ
- And he said
- yāqawmi
- يَٰقَوْمِ
- "O my people!
- uʿ'budū
- ٱعْبُدُوا۟
- Worship
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- wa-ir'jū
- وَٱرْجُوا۟
- and expect
- l-yawma
- ٱلْيَوْمَ
- the Day
- l-ākhira
- ٱلْءَاخِرَ
- the Last
- walā
- وَلَا
- and (do) not
- taʿthaw
- تَعْثَوْا۟
- commit evil
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- muf'sidīna
- مُفْسِدِينَ
- (as) corrupters"
And to Madyan [We sent] their brother Shuaib, and he said, "O my people, worship Allah and expect the Last Day and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption." (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 36)Tafsir
فَكَذَّبُوْهُ فَاَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَاَصْبَحُوْا فِيْ دَارِهِمْ جٰثِمِيْنَ ۙ ٣٧
- fakadhabūhu
- فَكَذَّبُوهُ
- But they denied him
- fa-akhadhathumu
- فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ
- so seized them
- l-rajfatu
- ٱلرَّجْفَةُ
- the earthquake
- fa-aṣbaḥū
- فَأَصْبَحُوا۟
- and they became
- fī
- فِى
- in
- dārihim
- دَارِهِمْ
- their home
- jāthimīna
- جَٰثِمِينَ
- fallen prone
But they denied him, so the earthquake seized them, and they became within their home [corpses] fallen prone. (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 37)Tafsir
وَعَادًا وَّثَمُوْدَا۟ وَقَدْ تَّبَيَّنَ لَكُمْ مِّنْ مَّسٰكِنِهِمْۗ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطٰنُ اَعْمَالَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّبِيْلِ وَكَانُوْا مُسْتَبْصِرِيْنَ ۙ ٣٨
- waʿādan
- وَعَادًا
- And Aad
- wathamūdā
- وَثَمُودَا۟
- and Thamud
- waqad
- وَقَد
- and verily
- tabayyana
- تَّبَيَّنَ
- (has) become clear
- lakum
- لَكُم
- to you
- min
- مِّن
- from
- masākinihim
- مَّسَٰكِنِهِمْۖ
- their dwellings
- wazayyana
- وَزَيَّنَ
- And made fair-seeming
- lahumu
- لَهُمُ
- to them
- l-shayṭānu
- ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ
- the Shaitaan
- aʿmālahum
- أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ
- their deeds
- faṣaddahum
- فَصَدَّهُمْ
- and averted them
- ʿani
- عَنِ
- from
- l-sabīli
- ٱلسَّبِيلِ
- the Way
- wakānū
- وَكَانُوا۟
- though they were
- mus'tabṣirīna
- مُسْتَبْصِرِينَ
- endowed with insight
And [We destroyed] Aad and Thamud, and it has become clear to you from their [ruined] dwellings. And Satan had made pleasing to them their deeds and averted them from the path, and they were endowed with perception. (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 38)Tafsir
وَقَارُوْنَ وَفِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامٰنَۗ وَلَقَدْ جَاۤءَهُمْ مُّوْسٰى بِالْبَيِّنٰتِ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوْا فِى الْاَرْضِ وَمَا كَانُوْا سَابِقِيْنَ ۚ ٣٩
- waqārūna
- وَقَٰرُونَ
- And Qarun
- wafir'ʿawna
- وَفِرْعَوْنَ
- and Firaun
- wahāmāna
- وَهَٰمَٰنَۖ
- and Haman
- walaqad
- وَلَقَدْ
- And certainly
- jāahum
- جَآءَهُم
- came to them
- mūsā
- مُّوسَىٰ
- Musa
- bil-bayināti
- بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ
- with clear evidences
- fa-is'takbarū
- فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟
- but they were arrogant
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and not
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- they could
- sābiqīna
- سَٰبِقِينَ
- outstrip Us
And [We destroyed] Qarun and Pharaoh and Haman. And Moses had already come to them with clear evidences, and they were arrogant in the land, but they were not outrunners [of Our punishment]. (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 39)Tafsir
فَكُلًّا اَخَذْنَا بِذَنْۢبِهٖۙ فَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ اَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ حَاصِبًا ۚوَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ اَخَذَتْهُ الصَّيْحَةُ ۚوَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ خَسَفْنَا بِهِ الْاَرْضَۚ وَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ اَغْرَقْنَاۚ وَمَا كَانَ اللّٰهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلٰكِنْ كَانُوْٓا اَنْفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُوْنَ ٤٠
- fakullan
- فَكُلًّا
- So each
- akhadhnā
- أَخَذْنَا
- We seized
- bidhanbihi
- بِذَنۢبِهِۦۖ
- for his sin
- famin'hum
- فَمِنْهُم
- Then of them
- man
- مَّنْ
- (was he) who
- arsalnā
- أَرْسَلْنَا
- We sent
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِ
- on him
- ḥāṣiban
- حَاصِبًا
- a violent storm
- wamin'hum
- وَمِنْهُم
- and of them
- man
- مَّنْ
- (was he) who
- akhadhathu
- أَخَذَتْهُ
- seized him
- l-ṣayḥatu
- ٱلصَّيْحَةُ
- the awful cry
- wamin'hum
- وَمِنْهُم
- and of them
- man
- مَّنْ
- (was he) who
- khasafnā
- خَسَفْنَا
- We caused to swallow
- bihi
- بِهِ
- him
- l-arḍa
- ٱلْأَرْضَ
- the earth
- wamin'hum
- وَمِنْهُم
- and of them
- man
- مَّنْ
- (was he) who
- aghraqnā
- أَغْرَقْنَاۚ
- We drowned
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- kāna
- كَانَ
- was
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- liyaẓlimahum
- لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ
- to wrong them
- walākin
- وَلَٰكِن
- but
- kānū
- كَانُوٓا۟
- they were
- anfusahum
- أَنفُسَهُمْ
- themselves
- yaẓlimūna
- يَظْلِمُونَ
- doing wrong
So each We seized for his sin; and among them were those upon whom We sent a storm of stones, and among them were those who were seized by the blast [from the sky], and among them were those whom We caused the earth to swallow, and among them were those whom We drowned. And Allah would not have wronged them, but it was they who were wronging themselves. (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 40)Tafsir
