الۤمّۤ ۗ ١

الٓمٓ
Alif Laam Meem
Alif, Lam, Meem. (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 1)
Tafsir
2

اَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ اَنْ يُّتْرَكُوْٓا اَنْ يَّقُوْلُوْٓا اٰمَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُوْنَ ٢

aḥasiba
أَحَسِبَ
Do think
l-nāsu
ٱلنَّاسُ
the people
an
أَن
that
yut'rakū
يُتْرَكُوٓا۟
they will be left
an
أَن
because
yaqūlū
يَقُولُوٓا۟
they say
āmannā
ءَامَنَّا
"We believe"
wahum
وَهُمْ
and they
لَا
will not be tested?
yuf'tanūna
يُفْتَنُونَ
will not be tested?
Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried? (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 2)
Tafsir
3

وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا الَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ فَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ اللّٰهُ الَّذِيْنَ صَدَقُوْا وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْكٰذِبِيْنَ ٣

walaqad
وَلَقَدْ
And indeed
fatannā
فَتَنَّا
We tested
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
min
مِن
(were) before them
qablihim
قَبْلِهِمْۖ
(were) before them
falayaʿlamanna
فَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ
And Allah will surely make evident
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
And Allah will surely make evident
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ṣadaqū
صَدَقُوا۟
(are) truthful
walayaʿlamanna
وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ
and He will surely make evident
l-kādhibīna
ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ
the liars
But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars. (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 3)
Tafsir
4

اَمْ حَسِبَ الَّذِيْنَ يَعْمَلُوْنَ السَّيِّاٰتِ اَنْ يَّسْبِقُوْنَا ۗسَاۤءَ مَا يَحْكُمُوْنَ ٤

am
أَمْ
Or
ḥasiba
حَسِبَ
think
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
yaʿmalūna
يَعْمَلُونَ
do
l-sayiāti
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ
evil deeds
an
أَن
that
yasbiqūnā
يَسْبِقُونَاۚ
they can outrun Us
sāa
سَآءَ
Evil is
مَا
what
yaḥkumūna
يَحْكُمُونَ
they judge
Or do those who do evil deeds think they can outrun [i.e., escape] Us? Evil is what they judge. (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 4)
Tafsir
5

مَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُوْا لِقَاۤءَ اللّٰهِ فَاِنَّ اَجَلَ اللّٰهِ لَاٰتٍ ۗوَهُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْعَلِيْمُ ٥

man
مَن
Whoever
kāna
كَانَ
[is]
yarjū
يَرْجُوا۟
hopes
liqāa
لِقَآءَ
(for the) meeting
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(with) Allah
fa-inna
فَإِنَّ
then indeed
ajala
أَجَلَ
(the) Term
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
laātin
لَءَاتٍۚ
(is) surely coming
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
And He
l-samīʿu
ٱلسَّمِيعُ
(is) the All-Hearer
l-ʿalīmu
ٱلْعَلِيمُ
the All-Knower
Whoever should hope for the meeting with Allah – indeed, the term [decreed by] Allah is coming. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing. (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 5)
Tafsir
6

وَمَنْ جَاهَدَ فَاِنَّمَا يُجَاهِدُ لِنَفْسِهٖ ۗاِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَغَنِيٌّ عَنِ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ ٦

waman
وَمَن
And whoever
jāhada
جَٰهَدَ
strives
fa-innamā
فَإِنَّمَا
then only
yujāhidu
يُجَٰهِدُ
he strives
linafsihi
لِنَفْسِهِۦٓۚ
for himself
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
laghaniyyun
لَغَنِىٌّ
(is) Free from need
ʿani
عَنِ
of
l-ʿālamīna
ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
the worlds
And whoever strives only strives for [the benefit of] himself. Indeed, Allah is Free from need of the worlds. (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 6)
Tafsir
7

وَالَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَنُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّاٰتِهِمْ وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ اَحْسَنَ الَّذِيْ كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ ٧

wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
āmanū
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe
waʿamilū
وَعَمِلُوا۟
and do
l-ṣāliḥāti
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
righteous (deeds)
lanukaffiranna
لَنُكَفِّرَنَّ
surely We will remove
ʿanhum
عَنْهُمْ
from them
sayyiātihim
سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ
their evil deeds
walanajziyannahum
وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ
and We will surely reward them
aḥsana
أَحْسَنَ
(the) best
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
(of) what
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they used
yaʿmalūna
يَعْمَلُونَ
(to) do
And those who believe and do righteous deeds – We will surely remove from them their misdeeds and will surely reward them according to the best of what they used to do. (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 7)
Tafsir
8

وَوَصَّيْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ حُسْنًا ۗوَاِنْ جَاهَدٰكَ لِتُشْرِكَ بِيْ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهٖ عِلْمٌ فَلَا تُطِعْهُمَا ۗاِلَيَّ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَاُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ ٨

wawaṣṣaynā
وَوَصَّيْنَا
And We have enjoined
l-insāna
ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ
(on) man
biwālidayhi
بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ
goodness to his parents
ḥus'nan
حُسْنًاۖ
goodness to his parents
wa-in
وَإِن
but if
jāhadāka
جَٰهَدَاكَ
they both strive against you
litush'rika
لِتُشْرِكَ
to make you associate
بِى
with Me
مَا
what
laysa
لَيْسَ
not
laka
لَكَ
you have
bihi
بِهِۦ
of it
ʿil'mun
عِلْمٌ
any knowledge
falā
فَلَا
then (do) not
tuṭiʿ'humā
تُطِعْهُمَآۚ
obey both of them
ilayya
إِلَىَّ
To Me
marjiʿukum
مَرْجِعُكُمْ
(is) your return
fa-unabbi-ukum
فَأُنَبِّئُكُم
and I will inform you
bimā
بِمَا
about what
kuntum
كُنتُمْ
you used
taʿmalūna
تَعْمَلُونَ
(to) do
And We have enjoined upon man goodness to parents. But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do. (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 8)
Tafsir
9

وَالَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَنُدْخِلَنَّهُمْ فِى الصّٰلِحِيْنَ ٩

wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
āmanū
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe
waʿamilū
وَعَمِلُوا۟
and do
l-ṣāliḥāti
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
righteous deeds
lanud'khilannahum
لَنُدْخِلَنَّهُمْ
We will surely admit them
فِى
among
l-ṣāliḥīna
ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
the righteous
And those who believe and do righteous deeds – We will surely admit them among the righteous [into Paradise]. (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 9)
Tafsir
10

وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَّقُوْلُ اٰمَنَّا بِاللّٰهِ فَاِذَآ اُوْذِيَ فِى اللّٰهِ جَعَلَ فِتْنَةَ النَّاسِ كَعَذَابِ اللّٰهِ ۗوَلَىِٕنْ جَاۤءَ نَصْرٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّكَ لَيَقُوْلُنَّ اِنَّا كُنَّا مَعَكُمْۗ اَوَلَيْسَ اللّٰهُ بِاَعْلَمَ بِمَا فِيْ صُدُوْرِ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ ١٠

وَمِنَ
And of
l-nāsi
ٱلنَّاسِ
the people
man
مَن
(is he) who
yaqūlu
يَقُولُ
says
āmannā
ءَامَنَّا
"We believe
bil-lahi
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah"
fa-idhā
فَإِذَآ
But when
ūdhiya
أُوذِىَ
he is harmed
فِى
in
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(the Way of) Allah
jaʿala
جَعَلَ
he considers
fit'nata
فِتْنَةَ
(the) trial
l-nāsi
ٱلنَّاسِ
(of) the people
kaʿadhābi
كَعَذَابِ
as (the) punishment
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
wala-in
وَلَئِن
But if
jāa
جَآءَ
comes
naṣrun
نَصْرٌ
victory
min
مِّن
from
rabbika
رَّبِّكَ
your Lord
layaqūlunna
لَيَقُولُنَّ
surely they say
innā
إِنَّا
"Indeed, we
kunnā
كُنَّا
were
maʿakum
مَعَكُمْۚ
with you"
awalaysa
أَوَلَيْسَ
Is not
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
bi-aʿlama
بِأَعْلَمَ
most knowing
bimā
بِمَا
of what
فِى
(is) in
ṣudūri
صُدُورِ
(the) breasts
l-ʿālamīna
ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
(of) the worlds?
And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allah," but when one [of them] is harmed for [the cause of] Allah, he considers the trial [i.e., harm] of the people as [if it were] the punishment of Allah. But if victory comes from your Lord, they say, "Indeed, We were with you." Is not Allah most knowing of what is within the breasts of the worlds [i.e., all creatures]? (QS. [29] Al-'Ankabut: 10)
