Al-Qasas, ayah 32)

Now put your hand through ˹the opening of˺ your collar, it will come out ˹shining˺ white, unblemished.[[ See footnote for {20:22}. ]] And cross your arms tightly to calm your fears.[[ When Moses put his arm through the opening in his collar again, his hand returned to its original colour. ]] These are two proofs from your Lord to Pharaoh and his chiefs. They have truly been a rebellious people.”

English Literal

Enter/pass your hand in your collar/pocket , it emerges white from without evil/harm , and gather/join (fold) to you your wing/side from the terror/fright, so those two are two proofs/evidences from your Lord to Pharaoh, and his nobles/assembly , that they were a nation (of) debauchers .

Verily, they are the people who are Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).

Maulana Mohammad Ali

Tafsir jalalayn

Insert your, right, hand, meaning, the palm, into your bosom (jayb is the neck [area] of the shirt) and [then] take it out, and it will emerge, not in its usual skin colour [but], white, without any blemish, any [vestige of] leprosy. So he inserted it and took it out and it shone as bright as the sun, blinding the eyes; and draw your arm [back] to your side [as a precaution] against fear (read rahab, rahb or ruhb), in other words, [against] the fear produced by the glow of the hand, so that you insert it [back] into your bosom and it is restored to its former state; it [the arm] is referred to as jinh, `wing', because they are for humans what wings are for birds. These then (read fa-dhnika or fa-dhnnika) namely, the staff and the hand (both of which [`as and yad] are feminine nouns, but the demonstrative pronoun [dhnika] used for them, being the subject, is in the masculine because its predicate is masculine) shall be two proofs, to be sent, from your Lord to Pharaoh and his council; for surely they are an immoral people'.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

اسْلُكْ يَدَكَ فِي جَيْبِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَاء مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوءٍ

Put your hand into the opening of your garment, it will come forth white without a disease;

meaning, `when you put your hand in your garment and then draw it out, it will be shining white as if it were a piece of the moon or a flash of lightning.'

Allah said;
مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوءٍ
(without a disease), i.e., with no trace of leukoderma.

وَاضْمُمْ إِلَيْكَ جَنَاحَكَ مِنَ الرَّهْبِ

and draw your hand close to your side to be free from the fear.

Mujahid said, "To be free from terror."

Qatadah said, "To be free from fear."

Musa was commanded, when he felt afraid of anything, to draw his hand close to his side to be free from the fear. If he did that, whatever fear he felt would be gone.

Perhaps if a person does this, following the example of Musa, and puts his hand over his heart, his fear will disappear or be lessened, if Allah wills; in Allah we place our trust.

فَذَانِكَ بُرْهَانَانِ مِن رَّبِّكَ

These are two proofs from your Lord

This refers to the throwing down of his stick, whereupon it turned into a moving snake, and his putting his hand into his garment and bringing it forth white without a disease.

These were two clear and definitive proofs of the power of the One Who does as He chooses, and of the truth of the Prophethood of the one at whose hands these miracles occurred.

Allah said;

إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَيِهِ

to Fir`awn and his chiefs.

meaning his leaders and prominent followers.

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ

Verily, they are the people who are rebellious.

means, who are disobedient towards Allah and who go against His commands and His religion
